      @@Latabledu17ème No, just look at the movements on the steering wheels.
      Neuville has to move it way less, Ogier is correcting continiously.
      Intetsting to see sometimes Neuville is ahead , sometimes Ogier. Both exceptional drivers.

    • @Latabledu17ème
      @Latabledu17ème 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jfv65 no its a visual effect... depends of the differents angle, you can't compare two movements without a same camera angle that just logic, one angle is near and the other farther away. there are differences but they are exaggerating because of the angle

      @@Latabledu17ème I disagree. The work needed by Ogier is clearly visible when looking at his arms when braking and exiting corners. Could be the car or his driving personality but Neuville is not needing to over correct the steering as much as Ogier. Either way, they certainly are both very talented.

    It’s fascinating to see the differences in driving style.

    • @jendabekCZ
      @jendabekCZ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Likwidfox There are too many variables which come into play here to make such judgement - Ogier is known for his aggressive driving style (he uses much more steering input, especially compared to Neuville - no matter of car), the camera FOV is different (more you zoom-in, more twitchy footage) etc.
      If any car is noticeably twitchy in general, it would certainly not be competitive.

  • @Julsnalice
    @Julsnalice 4 ปีที่แล้ว +58

    The driving style of ogier is to constantly feel for grip, gives that aggressive if not erratic look to the driving where your constantly trying to upset the car to feel and find the limit. This is more common with drivers that prefer gravel and changing or slippery grip levels. Thierry drives much more like a circuit racer, someone who prefers higher grip levels and not deliberately unsettling the car to find more grip. Just different ways of approaching the same task.

      Neuville looks like he might go off at any moment being completely oblivious to the conditions. To be honest looks scary to me.

    • @thinotmandresy
      @thinotmandresy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way Ogier keeps turning the wheel is so noticeable that I kept asking myself why does he not lose time. Turns out it's a way to feel for grip, and helps him drive better. Amazing.
      Actually, I think I'm often unconsciously "toying" with the wheel in DiRT Rally 2.0. I didn't even know I was trying to feel the grip.

    Neuville is definitely smoother and the Hyundai does not pitch as much. On other videos the Hyundai shows the car has a huge rooster tail trailing dust indicating the car has significant amount of downforce. This could be why the car is faster on smoother surface.
    Ogier makes up on loose surface with tight twisting turns because the Yaris has a very short wheelbase making it perfect for tackling the tight turns. The rate of rotation on the Yaris is significantly faster than the Hyundai.
    Overall, both drivers excel in different ways.

    • @zmotorsport2815
      @zmotorsport2815 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      especially in some mid speed 90ndegree corners, Neuville made up a lot of time, carrying more speed. And you're right, Ogier makes up on that on the slippery surfaces and under braking as well. At one time Ogier just yeeted it through a bridge and made up like 2s in 40 metres.

    They are incredibly close, only a few tenths after almost 9 minutes. Neuville (right) seems slightly quicker overall but Ogier’s Toyota is surreal on relaunches (after slow corners and hairpins) probably due to better suspensions giving the car a traction advantage... two hairpins and Ogier made up all the losses of the first half.
