    This video brought back memories! Could've used this years ago when I had to do a cam and valve job on mine. Had to replace all the valve train as the gear failed while running. Unfortunately, no TH-cam back then. Just a very understanding dealer who loaned me a service manual!

    You don't have to use TDC...Just crank engine till intake goes down, then set the exhaust. The crank till the exhaust goes down then adjust the intake.

    great video, a cheap way to check cooling system, to take a bicycle inner tube and cut a section out with the stem in it and to connect it to the upper and lower hose connections on the engine. Then fill the tube with air, and make sure there is no leak at the connection with soapy water, and the wait overnight, If the air is still in the tube,, youll have proven the system is tight

    Great job! I have a 445 also and watched several of your videos. My problem was an oil pump gear with no teeth. Your videos helped put things back together. I wish I could extract the video and slow the fast motion portions.

    Any chance you can give me more details on the governour arm set up? I have the service manual however from new it does not seem to set proper. it has a new governour gear installed and the shaft seems to be on right.

    I am currently working on a Kawasaki FD620D . I have watched several videos regarding the rebuild/reassembly of the engine. Everyone does one particular step the same way. Regarding the mounting of the intake manifold. Everyone mounts the heads, torques them down, and then mounts the intake, and torques it down. According to the Kawasaki manual, this is wrong. The manual says to temporarily mount the head and simply snug the head bolts down. Then attach the intake, torque it, and finally, torque the heads down. I don't know which is right, or wrong, but I torqued the heads, and then mounted the intake. Maybe it doesn't matter, I don't know. Just thought I would throw this out there.

    Very satisfying video to watch. I'm getting ready to rebuild my 14 year old Kaw FH680V on my hustler z this fall. Your video make it seem much less intimidating.

    Thinking about picking a 425 up with a broken Cam gear for around 1000$ had 1200 hours on it but I don’t know if that’s a good deal or not, considering all the labor I will have to put into replacing the gear and everything else.

    My front cover has sprung a pretty decent leak, do you think it’s possible to remove and re-seal/gasket the front cover while its still in the machine as long as i remove the exhaust and front support? Thank you for taking the time to document your rebuild.

    Loved this series! Thank you. Very informative, you have a pleasant and easy way of explaining yourself. Really easy to follow. I found this helpful as I’m in the starting stages of repairing my 95 425 with the FD620D in it. It is over pressurizing the crankcase. From my research it’s possibly the crankcase reedvalve?? Have you heard anything about this? Additionally have you ever pulled the flywheel offf one of these. Thankyou once again - Mac

    • @JunkyardTailgate
      @JunkyardTailgate  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mackenzie Grant I have not pulled a flywheel yet. I have heard of the reed-valve pressurizing the crank case but again have not had that problem on mine yet.

    • @Mackenzie.Grant95
      @Mackenzie.Grant95 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Junkyard Tailgate thanks for such a quick reply! Much appreciate that. Yeah it smokes like crazy. It’s pressurizing the oil so much it’s coming up the crankcase vent hose and into the Carburetor. It also has a bad leak on the K91 rear end so it looks like I’ll be starting an overhaul. It’s a nice thing we connected on here as I’d like to pick your brain if needed if that ok? Just incase I hit a roadblock somewhere. Thanks again. I’m definitely a permanent Subscriber

      Did you ever solve your crank case issue? I have the same problem with my 445. The excessive pressure in the crank case will blow the oil filler cap off. Oil is also blown into the intake throat. It does not seem to consume allot of oil though. The left hand spark plug seems to fowl quickly. I bought one of those reed valves just to see what it was but didnt change it. Thanks.

    Thankyou, I find your videos very helpful. I wondered if you have had any experience with the power steering control valve. Mine is leaking all over the mower deck. It looks like it would be a tough thing to get at from underneath. I dont know if it would be the o-rings on the oil lines or the valve itself. I would appreciate any advise you might have to offer. Thanks

    • @meicalyoung
      @meicalyoung 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I replaced my o rings this past summer. Also needed to replace one hose that was leaking. I drove up the front on stands for a little more room. I did replace all 5 o rings. The metal hoses were a little difficult to remove from the valve but do able. I did use a Phillips head and rubber mallet to tap the metal hoses back into the valve.
