Thanks for the video. I hope that with your help I can keep my 445 running a while yet. My machine was running rough. The drivers left spark plug usually fowls quickly. A change in plugs usually gets me going again. I am wondering if it has a weak coil. But in the mean time I ran 1/2 can of seafoam through it thinking that might help. Not sure if it helped or hindered. The fuel pump started flashing and it started to lose power and run poorly after a couple hours of blowing snow. I am wondering if the seafoam affected one of the fuel injection sensors. Hope I didnt damage the engine. I have my fingers crossed that new gas will keep me going. Lots of winter left.

Have you checked or replaced the fuel filter? There are some really good Kawasaki manuals out there that have good troubleshooting steps. I would not think that Seafoam would impact the injectors.

@@mmrbeef thanks for the reply. Getting a manual would no doubt help. I did change the filter just prior to these problems. Initially I had some leak issues but it seems ok now. I didn’t think seafoam would bother the injectors but I see mention of it affecting the sensors. Anyway thanks for the help.

the fd620 / 720 d's had some issues with valve guide seals getting hard cracking and leaking into intake and exhaust. leaks in while sitting , burns off while working.

I just bought a 455 last night. I got it for a project and wanted to know the first place to start. I’m brand new to Diesel engines. The previous owner ran gas instead of diesel. If you could please give some tips and tricks on my journey of restoring it. Thanks!

How much of a project will really depend on how long the PO ran it with gas. It could be as simple as cleaning the fuel system to having to replace/rebuild major engine components. Gas will quickly melt pistons, score cylinders, and ruin injector pumps if used for extended periods of time. If the unit still runs I would empty the fuel tank, clear/replace the rubber fuel lines, replace the fuel filter, and then refill with diesel and some power service and see how it handles.

It would be interesting to recheck the compression after the valve lash adjustment unless your check was done after of course

Then add a teaspoon of oil to each cylinder and check it again.

Any idea on how to set governor rpm on a 445? Mine has gotten out of adjustment after I replaced a head gasket.

My 322's battery heat shield in front of the muffler snapped in half, is this a common issue, and do you know where i can find a new one?

Never dealt with a single injector Kawasaki, so yeah valve clearance makes perfect sense. I dare say there would be a heap of carbon build up in the combustion chamber. Not a bad little trade. The 400 series mowers are hard to find in Australia people just don't seem to part with them. My 455 had lift pump issues, broken bonnet mounts and a cracked exhaust where it mounts to the manifold. Relatively easy to sort.

Fuel wash may have caused it.. or just general lack of oil maintenance .

My impression is overall lack of maintenance. I think it is on a pretty good path at the moment... Compression is good and now its just hanging out until Spring when I can get it back in the shop to work on it some more.

It sounds really good now funny what a few thousandths can do for valves

Our 445 is leaking transmission fluid, very slowly. We took off the drive gear cover and replaced the gasket. It’s still leaking and we now think it’s up higher above. Getting to that area, looks very technical! Could you comment? “CAN ANYONE OUT THERE PLEASE LET ME KNOW?”
I know if you tighten this pot metal cover it can crack! We tightened our with torque wrench and know there’s not a crack leaking hydraulic fluid!
    PLEASE HELP! Thanks 🙏

deere makes a complete trans seal kit. best way to put it in is to pull the rear end. i did mine one at a time, but wish now i had bought the complete kit. watched all of videos by mmrbeef and others. turned out good.

Here’s an idea! Buy yourself an electric tractor and forego all the headache and money 💰.

Watched 3/4 of the first video and about 45 seconds of the second video. Have not seen the third. You have a dead hole there. Low compression , bad rings and blowby.. Comprssion test it will tell you in about 30 seconds. Rebuild it and you will probably have a decent tractor there..
