    How have I missed your videos!! Heck just the title including (bare foot) got me. Lol I’ve been doing this since I was about 17 and I’m 65 now. Genealogy is my full time love and if only I could do it full time. Yet, I’m a recent widow and a 24/7 caregiver for a daughter with a brain injury and 2 special needs grandchildren. So lots of responsibility. But that’s ok. Every minute I get is on my family history. I also enjoy helping others learn to do it. I want to know who my family was. I have 12 3” binders of just family group sheets. I am the keeper of physical family records. So I also have many tubs of personal to different family members keepsakes. You talk about doing it in your Jammie’s…. I’ve been known to take my phone to the tub and do searches and send it to my air printer! Lol anyway no clue how I’ve missed you so I’m subscribing. Even my 18 yr old grandson was shocked I have the original copies of records like marriage etc., as far back as the early 1800’s. And a couple from the 1700’s. Bring a recent widow I am thankful I’m a member of the LDS church or I could not afford this.
    And my dream is that y’all had more from small , tiny cities in Oklahoma! Lol

    • @madelinegoldingay6440
      @madelinegoldingay6440 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thrulines is not working for me because some people have the wrong Christian names or have totally the wrong names. These incorrect entries come up as potential ancestors and will not allow me to agree further ancestors. A member of Ancestry has suggested I contact the people with the incorrect entries but they do not change the mistakes. There aught to be a way of my entering the correct information. I have confidence in the dna matches but people just copies trees without checking the facts.

    Why, when indexing will & probate records, are slaves not treated as people? They are never tagged. I am specifically referring to wills that left slaves to family members. I think Ancestry should index the names and ages of slaves when available, instead of allowing them to be lost in history.

    • @CristaCowan
      @CristaCowan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I have been an ancestry member since 2018 and although I have been able to do a tree on mom's side I don't know how to find my real dad . I'm just lost and don't know what to do now .

      Hi Jeanne - Have you taken an AncestryDNA test?

  • @Nancy-mi3xe
    @Nancy-mi3xe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My concern is that there are family trees posted on Ancestry that have incorrect information. The only person who can fix it is the person who posted it. But if someone is searching for that family and sees the incorrect information, they may think it's not their family. This is especially harmful to Jewish families who are scattered, and still trying to find each other. And especially difficult for Eastern European Jewish families as there were few records to start with, we're up against endogamy, so much of our population, especially elders, who held the history are gone, and the Nazis made a point of destroying our records. There are inaccuracies posted about my family in a family tree posted on Ancestry. The person who posted it is convince it's correct. The records from the European town say otherwise, but this person, who said they'd correct it hasn't. So, inaccuracy stands. Others are taking it as true and copying it and spreading it further. And those inaccuracies have implications that are hurtful. Take what you see at Ancestry with a good grain of salt.

    • @CristaCowan
      @CristaCowan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The best way to combat inaccurate information (which has always existed) is to publish the correct information as publicly and widely as possible.
