For everyone saying that she shouldn't have ice flies because they are for doubles need to understand thay jump ratings are only for kids. Adults weight 3-4 times as much as kids and we need more support. Been skating 20 years and my current boots are rated for quads and you won't catch me doing more than doubles ever. It's just because I'm and adult and need more support for my weight.
how could your choruses break down in such a short time?🥺i’m skating in my pair for the second year already, i’m learning doubles now and i feel like i’m gonna skate in this pair for at least another year or two
When doing your jumps, you could try wear guards on ur wrist and practice with protection until you can get the height and confidence , it will pay off
You should get Jackson artiste if you are just coming out of rentals. You don’t need the best of the best skates until you start doing double or triple jumps
What do you mean by broke down??? I’ve had chorus for about a year and so dubble jump with it. I’ve had 4,different pairs as well and never had a problem
I have the Jackson Artiste now! I just reached my 6 month mark. Good to know others have experience with using them for longer!😅 When did you start learning jumps? Currently I have my waltz jump and salchow, and working on toe loop (i can land it, it just needs finetuning)🤔 but I still need to work on some basic stuff like edges etc. I really don't know when I need to upgrade tbh
hi! i’m learning my single jumps rn (waltz, toe loop, salchow). do you recommend edea skates? i only go a couple times a week and right now i have jackson’s
The best skates are the skates that fit you best. you should go get fitted and whatever brand fits the best will be whats recommended. theres so many different brands like risport, riedell, graf, edea, jackson etc. the brand and boot will depend on your feet shape, width, arch etc and your height weight, how often you skate etc. If your boots are broken down, I would suggest you go get fitted for skates becuase it will not be able to support you when doing jumps and spins. Happy skating!
How much were the boots and blades for the second one combined? I’ve been begging my mom for edeas but she’s telling me to stick with my riddells. I’ve been doing doubles in my riddells for like half a year and I’m kinda sick of it 😭
You just do a forward swizzle then a backward swizzle. If you need help with those, there are lots of videos online. Coach Julia has some good tips for various moves.
You have gone through 2 pairs of boots in less than 2 years and are on a 3rd? Chorus are rated for double jumps, unless you are extremely heavy they should not be breaking down that quickly. I would investigate both your jump and lacing technique. Edea boots used to say they required a different lacing technique to avoid early break down, there was a video on YT on how to lace them correctly. And anyone looking to start skating, this is not remotely typical even if you advance very quickly. Ice skating is expensive enough without buying boots this frequently.
@@jingli-ce7oh more goes into consideration when buying skates than just skill level. weight, age, height, how much a skater trains, etc. are all considered. i have a video up already about why i have ice flys if you’re curious 😊
weight, height, how often you skate and also how you use your skates are all factors taken into account when getting fitted for figure skates. adults beginners usually wear stronger boots that might be rated for doubles, triples and quads because they often need higher levels of support and figure skate support ratings are made for children. also she is wearing edea skates, and it is very difficult to overboot in edea. obviously this is different for everyone and doesn't apply to everyone.
You said yours broke down fast so now I’m worried, because I wanted to get the Edea overtures! In group classes were barely on backwards skating, but I’ve self taught some single jumps and spins so I was wondering 🤔
it definitely depends on how much you skate and what you’re doing in them! i was skating almost every day and i work at the rink so i was using them a lot for work too which made them break down quick, even though i was just doing single jumps. everyone is different though! i was able to use them for about 1 year and 3 months before switching
@lexx8398 Heyy! I just wanna say two things. First please go get fitted for skates. Edea skates may not be compatible for your feet. Second, it's ok to self teach if that is the only way you can learn. Be careful about technique and trying your best to not pick up bad habits. For example if you're watching a tutorial, film yourself and compare your posture, form, technique etc to the video and correct your mistakes. However, please do not try to learn jumps and spins without mastering all the basics. There is a reason why you learn skills in a certain order. You can seriously get hurt if you don't have the prerequisite skills for the more complex moves. At the end of the day it's up to you but please be safe and happy skating!
Okay! I’m definitely planning to get skates fitted rather than bought online, and I am kind of rushing it because I’m starting slightly later at 14 😭I agree with the posture part though, I need to develop on technique more, because watching my own videos are so deeply humbling 😭 thank you so much for all your advice! 🫶🫶 @@zeinababukar1933
It depends on your weight/height. The plastic soles of the recreational Jackson skates (including artiste) aren't meant to support jumps. Little kids can typically get away with it because they're light, but if you're 80+ lbs, the artiste are really only rated for very basic levels. Had a friend in them whose sole shattered on a landing while practicing waltz jumps, almost broke an ankle from the fall (probably weighed around 130 lbs)
it's different for everyone. Are you an adult or a teen who is adult sized? Jackson recommends the Elle for singles if you weigh less than 60lbs and the Fresstyle if you weigh more, than 60lbs.
@@L4VXV The best thing to do is get fitted at a good skate shop. They'll be able to recommend a boot that is suitable for you. Mystiques might be fine whilst you're starting your single jumps but they probably won't get you through them all. Good luck and happy skating!

I am getting them when i move up to freestyle 3!😅

It's about weight, not jumps. It's only jump rated for kids, not adults. Adults weigh 3-4 times as much as kids so the jump rating is useless.
