Great video, Tony. I’m also from the old school where I sanded and polished aluminum wheels. Except I got lazy. I’d mount and axel on my workbench with appropriate bolt circle, clamped an electric motor down and looped a long v belt over the wheel. Now the wheel turned and I just held the tools, pads and sandpaper in my hand. Made life much easier
Amazing what a little money, time and energy can do. Nice job brother, they add class. This is actually a great tip for anyone working within a budget, the style of the wheels look just as good as anything on the shelf
Fitz, man the rims turned out great. Gave me ideas about the aluminum trim , grills, and body side trim, the anodizing turns dull, but, aluminum is aluminum. Thanks for the tips.
They look Mint on Wendy's Mustang. Great job as always Tony! Back in the day, I would put the GTI on jackstands, let her idle in second gear, Bam, machine polished wheels!!! I always wore heavy gloves to protect the fingers, which is probably why I still have all of em. LoL
They look great. I spent hours masking and painting a set of Pontiac 5 spoke rally wheels for my truck. They are stored under the bed in the spare room waiting for me to get the truck done. Good thing my wife is a patient woman.
I shined many a mag wheel in the 80s it usually took 4 or 5 hours a piece but they looked better then new when they were done.last thing was mothers mag cleaner!
I have used Autosol polish, it works but I am very partial to Simichrome. It works in the same way. I am sure the finish is indistinguishable once the part is wiped off properly. Simichrome is light pink and Autosol is white. Supposedly, the Simichrome contains the red rouge compound in a very fine form.
Hi Tony. The wheels look great! I just picked up some used wheels for my truck, so this video was very well timed. Thanks for showing the steps you took.
I could not envision the final product being anywhere near as nice as it was. Great job, they look amazing on the Mustang, although I agree it needs a bit more sidewall as a personal preference thing.
Hi Tony, the wheels look better than new! A lot of work but looks way worth it. The centers and the gold are spot on gorgeous as well. Wendy, it's looking sweet! Thanks and have a great week, catch you on the flip side! 👍💪✌
Hey Fitzee, I know you don’t want to put a coat of clear coat. But maybe you might consider a coat of paste wax? It will at least protect the rims from the road salt and rain spots without yellowing much and it comes off easy if you want to recoat them? Just a thought. I really enjoy your videos so keep the tips coming and keep enjoying life!
Reckon you surely pulled this one of using OEM type wheels and giving them new life and a better dimension...They gold centre accentuates the blue body and the chrome centre cap and outer lip accentuates the bits of chrome on the body effectively...Very subtle but great transformation...Good on you👌👌👌
ey Fitzzy next time you polish aluminum, get yourself a bottle of White Diamond for your final polish, I tried it one time and now it's my go to. And the caps are a nice touch
I got a couple little jars of Mothers to work on my Pontiac rims .. Hadn't thought about sanding them .. Probably will end up saving a lot of effort , will need to keep that in mind .. Was toying with having em bead blasted , but round here folks just askin to much to do anything these days .
You can speed up the sanding and polishing process by mounting it on the car with jack stands under the axle. Put the car in drive and hold the paper or polisher in place. Think of it like a lathe.
They look amazing! Yeah you’ll have to find an emblem or something to glue on over the American Racing logo, their name doesn’t deserve to be on there!
Just a thought, I have a set of American Racing wheels with those centers and have had trouble losing screws . I put red locktite on them for peace of mind. Your wheels look great.

I can see that working . Just watch the fingers on any holes. Lol
@@fitzeesfabrication.thefl-nf7hp it just takes one! Haha
Very nice. I was skeptical at first sight of the gold but after seeing it mounted…. Very nice and classy
Wheels look an fit the personality of car an no one would know those are ford wheels great job !
The Mustang looks good with the new wheels. They came out great. Next job, clean and paint the wheels on the Silverado.
Beautiful job, which shows what you can do with a “swap meet eye” and a little re-work. Great job, they really set the car off.
Those wheels really came out great and look good on the Mustang! Thanks for taking us along Fitzee!
That’s what we call ‘labor of love’. Beautiful job Tony.😊

Its on stands!
Tony, those turned out very nice! and the best part... no one else will have a set like it 👍

Those look awesome on the mustang.

You are meticulous on everything you do. Great wheels!
Looks great.
Real hot rodding.
Take something oem stock from something else, modify it to fit your style.
Oem wheels just fit so much better anyways.
They look just like the 1970's BBS basket weave rims!.

Nice.

Thanks for sharing your hard work Tony. The Tips are always good.👍👍❤
Back in the days when I was a motorcycle mechanic, we used to use Godards Glow to polish the alloy on bike engines.
Wow, what a transformation!
Looks good! I had a set of those on my 1994 Mercury grand Marquis. Even had a brand new never used spare with one on it.

Nice choice!
Those polish sticks are what we called jewellers rouge. You can polish brass copper silver with those also.
looks great
Nice to see American Racing centers - the finest mag wheels of the 60's - ET's - especially on Mustangs - Just ask Steve McQueen.

Great look for the Mustang! Did I mention that I adore this car?

Did that it's a lot of work.
Amazing what can be done with lil patience and perseverance. Turned out mint Tony. Looking the part.
Great job on those wheels. All the work shows ! 👍
Thank you for showing us how to do that. Kind regards.
I have always loved those Grand Marquis and Crown Vic wheels. They have a cool lip and a deep offset which really works.
25:00 This is where I would go nuts with the grinder and ruin my brand new caps
33:12 Home Run. Looks amazing. Worth the time and effort.
Nice Work!
I'm going to have to keep my eyes open at the swap meet better. Those wheels look great! Nice choice of color too!
Pretty slick Tony, they look like the BBS wheels used on BMWs, nice work and a great look on the mustang
another great job by the one & only... Fitzee! . thanks for sharing .
Awesome

Looking smart,Fitz.
That looks great ! When I see the color I wasn’t sure but it really works !
Those look great!
Blue and Gold looks cool !
They are some cool wheels and off of a fairly new car.
Great job sir

Beauty job tony! Very nice.
Looking great 🙂👍
Thanks!
Looks great 👍
I'm guessing that new wheels are really expensive in Canada with being into $150 per wheel plus all that work to end up with the final result.
Wheels and tires!
Looks Amazing!!!
Just a thought, I have a set of American Racing wheels with those centers and have had trouble losing screws . I put red locktite on them for peace of mind. Your wheels look great.
Was thinking about doing that.
thanks man👍🏻
Looks great, But is Wendy happy???
Could the shiny aluminium be clear coated?
It tends to ture gray if cleared.
How much is left to do on that car now?
Very little. Some interior and two rocker panel moldings. So close I can taste it. Lol
@@fitzeesfabrication.thefl-nf7hp It looks the bees knees, nice job.
Are you gonna clear coat them though? Seems like they want that
No I find clear tends to gray out the polished wheels.
@@fitzeesfabrication.thefl-nf7hp ah
They look expensive on the car lol.
😁🇬🇸🤘
All the money you got into those you could have bought 1 1/2 sets of brand new wheels.
Comment
Nice work on the wheels.. but ehhhh idk if they work on the mustang.
looks great
