I have had one for 2 years now. Have used it twice during power outages in the northeast. Was very impressed. Heated our bedroom to very comfortable levels. Highly recommend.
Oxygen depletion, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide measurements would be needed before I would consider this. Thermally, and cost-wise, this is an enticing solution. Am considering a diesel or propane heater (externally vented) as a backup heat source.
Lots of lurking variables here. My brother is an actual HVAC contractor and takes a much more scientific approach to his testing. It’s a cool device but heat is heat no matter how it’s packaged. “You can see the ‘hotness’” rofl.
A couple of questions: 1. Is there any type of fume or obnoxious smell? 2. Do you need some type of base to set it on so you don’t burn your floor or countertops?
I think for a better test for ambient temp for that room is to not have the thermometer in the path of the where the heater is blowing. Would have been nice to have another thermometer in the bed area next to the window (sqft of room and insulation used?). I prefer the cheaper Chinese diesel heater or VELIT or HCalory diesel heater for back up heat where the oxygen burnt and exhausted from/to the outside ensuring occupants are comfortable and safe and breathing air (oxygen) is not compromised. Plus, for $100 and up, getting a performance of 14kBTUs is not bad. I found the diesel/gasoline heaters to be the best backup systems. My primary is a heat pump.
@@HaddaCluYeah, in addition to the cost of the heater, a 100ah 12v doubles the price. And if you want to add on 100 watts of solar power, that's about another hundred bucks. @jasonbare3472 I am a chemist, so I am well aware of that. Hypothermia can start to set in as early as 70F. Prolonged exposure to cold temps can kill people, if you don't know. From Canada, pricing this is $310.00 on Amazon, when I go to my American Amazon account this is $142.00, so with the American exchange and all, its still cheaper to order through the States and still have it delivered free. Its always good to have both separate accounts, its worked in my favour both ways many times.

Did you have a CO detector in the room? If you use 2 or 3 to keep the temp up in an entire small home, I would not want to invest without knowing the CO danger.
Just wanted to let you know. I ordered a furnace from Alpine the other day. Literally delivered to the Midwest in 3 days (technically 2 days but was a Sunday in between). The entire process between calling them, customer service/ sales call, follow up, online order, fast delivery, professional delivery!! ALL TOP NOTCH! Now I’m hauling said furnace to the Great State. Glad to have an extremely reasonable replacement furnace on hand considering my 95% is 14 yrs old now and I suppose could kick the bucket any day, even though it’s running strong (knock on wood). Personally wanted to say thanks and thanks for the suggestion of Alpine. They did great and deserve to be mentioned.
I prefer butane fueled tabletop stove, about $35, fuel $3, more reliable storage years, more heat output and directly on pan or pot. Propane space heater like Buddy heater, same reasons basically. 1#-100# tank size...Cheers. 😅
I would love for you to test this only using 1 lite and 2 lite to compare when they are all lite. I would love to use this in a camper van and 3 might be to much if it can heat a whole bedroom up within a hour. Thanks
@@MrPoppyDuck Not everything burned gives off CO. If it burns hot/complete enough, the CO will be converted, leaving behind water vapor. A good clue to whether or not something burns clean enough to not give off CO is to look for a flame that is primarily blue in color.
