Great way to get rid of the worst part of an Ironhead (the transmission and case section it lived in) and build a very custom "Ironhead Big Twin". Four cams are better than one.
There's a couple of old blokes in the USA they make the gearbox conversion and rear engine mount.look up shortsters on Facebook you should fine there ironhead hard tailed frame and bits they are not bad priced I wish I had keep my 79 and done it. It there not cheap to get bits for hire in Australia
like the '65 , that rigid frame with perty paint look like good home for that 93" , definitely like to see the progress on the Ironhead/Shovelhead Cross. Knew it could be done same as you , first time been able to see someone trying it. 👍 Hope next video is soon

Lol!! a lot of sittin & staring... I'm a welder/fabricator sittn and staring & running it through trials in you head trying to get your gut and vison to balance out... I get it... you have a great eye & great work ethic.

Cool projects bud. I'm wanting to divorce my tranny also but the info I've found says they pick the 76 and older ironheads. Mine is a 77. Do you happen to know why they say that? Can I cut mine up just like yours. I'm trying to install it in an old ed Roth trike I have . Any idea?
Hey Keith, the 57-76 uses a different style primary chain. Where that tensioner mounts on the earlier ones is a good spot to build from to make the rear engine mount. The 77 still has a bolt that connects the case halfs together that can be utilized to build the rear mount from. Definitely doable but it's alot of work whatever year you use. DeeInTheHouse Just kinda ran with it, cut what you don't need and leave what you do. Make sure you leave the oil return and don't cut into the engine case or threads. Very time consuming but gonna be cool!

Why do people still believe a titled engine is a think the frame is what needs a title that’s what your registration is linked to
Because Harley titles pre 1970 went to the engine not the frames. The frames didn't have vin #"s.
That would make sense if the bike was a pre 70 but I see a lot of bikes that are post 70s running without a titles frame breaking the law running a bike with plates that are from a bike that no longer exists saying bla bla bla engine matches I say bullshit throw the book at the guy and pay the fines
No bike in any state does the engine need to match the frame unless it’s a salvage inspection or a custom vehicle title application elven then once the registration is given you can put whatever you want the insurance and plates should always match the vin otherwise you would have people pulling bike engines and building whatever they want with no need to have it be legal
