  • Mark and Jill Savage share their marriage story and talk about some of the common challenges couples face. Jill describes how she experienced a brief temptation during the early years of their marriage, and how she and Mark worked at creating healthy boundaries for their relationship.
The Savages described the combination of factors that led to infidelity in their marriage. Mark turned 50 and experienced a mid-life crisis. He was severely depressed, felt far away from God and finally walked away from his marriage and family to pursue an affair for three months. Mark and Jill then described the healing and restoration process they experienced, and how they are working to strengthen not only their marriage, but other marriages, as well.

This makes me think about my relationship with my mom. Lately I've been thinking of how I actually haven't forgiven her for not protecting me from molestation when I was just a young kid. But this conversation makes you think that God can help me get to that put enough not thinking ill of her.

Their struggles are so hard and painful for me to hear, I have always had a deep fear of being a victim to infidelity. It's obvious by my pain that this is a story I should be listening to.

God can heal everything but He also has given us the tools to deal with our childhood traumas. This poor man had been stuffing it for so long trying to be a perfect Christian as a church leader and husband. Then comes the depression and destructive behaviors.
