Ty for sharing. Truly, they did hang an innocent man. Tom Dula may have been quilty of multiple affairs or philandering but not murder. I grew up minutes away from where this young man was hanged. I have heard about this story/ & murder my entire life. I wld love to witness them give this man a pardon & exonerate Tom of murder.
It was a small community, many young men had died, Tom was young and good looking. There was not enough men to go around. All he did was to oblige those fertile young women. He didnt expect Anne to be jealous after all getting married to someone else draws a big red line, esp when aduterers can be challenged and killed in a duel. Either way, Tom should never have any affair with Anne after she married.

Tom Dooley has been re-incarnated back as my cat. I didn't know this story until I asked this strayed kitty on my yard, what his name should be, and he kept giving me the name 'Tom' in my head. So I asked him about 5 times, and he kept giving me the name 'Tom.' So, I finally told my husband, and I said, 'Who in the world is Tom that kitty wants me to name him after?' LOL. And immediately my husband said, 'TOM DOOLEY.' And he said, don't you know him? I said, no. Who was he? He went on to say, didn't you hear about Tom Dooley?? Then I immediately went online, and there his photo was shown with the story of what happened. So, I'm glad Tom came back, and if you look at my kitty, his eyes look just like Tom Dooley's eyes. He is back!!, and I love this kitty so much. I believe in re-incarnation, and we all learn until all our debts are paid. BY THE WAY, as I listened to this, it makes me think that Tom is innocent. I think he was framed.

Also Charlotte never told the motive, which is the most important part. An STD was introduced to Tom and the three women he was involved with. Ann thought Laura was the one who brought the STD to the others, and murdered her !!!!!!
