Cool. I hope you have it framed with a photo of Steve and it is hanging on your wall so your family and friends can see it. His autograph is worth a lot of money if you sell it, but I'm sure you won't do that.
Very well put together vid. This HERO was a blazing pure heart. The other Olympians in that race are Legends as well, but they were all terrified of how fast pre could run distsnce
This choked me up; he was my hero when I was 13 and he was 20. He instilled in me a heart and will to never give up. I dug deep when life got tough because that’s what Pre did.
To understand Pre, you need to understand his roots. Pre's coaches, teammates and competitors from his hometown of Coos Bay reveal his secrets to success! Check out the new documentary "Pre's People" at www.prespeoplemovie.com or on Vimeo.
Could he have been a better runner than he was? He seemed to have no race strategy, other than trying to run everyone into the ground from the start. I also understand he trained hard every day, without adequate restoration/recovery. He clearly didn't have much of a kick. This is the opposite of Arthur Lydiards training philosophy (hard/easy) which produced Olympic Gold medallists such as Peter Snell and Murray Halberg. Lydiard influenced Bowerman in his training methods however I don't think Pre every really took much notice and just followed his gut, but it makes you wonder....
The Europeans we're way ahead of their time we'll trained and fed and slept USA program was no where near what it is now or the Europeans and he ran his ass off still pretty sure some we're on some stuff also...just saying not a fact
That is pathetic how this video tried to correlate a football team with an individual who had a phenomenal talent in his own right. That's a huge problem with American society. They would rather live their life vicariously through somebody who actually extrated their talent, rather than extract their own. Don't chase envy. Accept who you are and find your purpose. "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift."
I grew up in Coos Bay, and got Pre's autograph a couple of months after the Olympics. I still have it.

He’s been my running hero for nearly 40 years! And I’ve paid my respects at his gravesite in Coos Bay, OR...

He ran every race like he knew he would not live a long life.....talent and pure guts
My favorite athlete period. I watched movies and clips of him like he watched the Olympics just a few years before he competed in the Olympics
This choked me up; he was my hero when I was 13 and he was 20. He instilled in me a heart and will to never give up. I dug deep when life got tough because that’s what Pre did.
Ran the Pre 10k in Coos Bay a number of years ago. Magical to run where he did.
His passing made the front page of the Stars and Stripes military newspaper. I couldn't breath when I first saw it.
I’m from coos bay and went to school with Steve Prefontaine at Marshfield. Then I was in Eugene when he was in college.
The balls on that kid! Both of my childhood heros names are steve. Prefontaine and Nash both athletes of pure guts and dedication💪🏽🔥
This man changed my life
Thanks for sharing . Linda is such a sweet person 👍
Great video. Go Pre!
This is my hometown.Brookings Oregon is my second.
I believe Prefontaine is the only runner in history that actually transcended the sport. Who else?

Thanks to pre I probably went to OR on a sholarship...Torreon, Mex..go Pre!
Prefontaine wasn't a runner, he was a Rock Star who happened to run.

His race strategy was to refuse any strategizing. That is the essence of Prefontaine
PRE!!
So what happened in Munich???????
