    Your comment about Stevie playing "guitar" via his keyboard brought to mind how much of a trailblazer he was with synthesizers, in a great part due to his producer and synth designer Malcolm Cecil. Heralded as a creative and engineering genius, Cecil created a synthesizer which was the first of its kind, and which caught Stevie Wonder's attention, who then used it on some of his most iconic albums.

      I saw a video with New Order's 'drummer' talking about how in the early 1980's he saw Stevie playing drums on a new fangled device, a 'drum machine' and how they got one and he's been pushing buttons ever since.
      Seems if Stevie uses your tech then you're bound to get a lot of sales just because of it. I can SEE why.
      Tried finding that vid but failed. smdh. (I have the memory of a rock)

    There are so many sad songs that artists sing and I always wonder how they can get through them without crying. It's clear that some of them are beyond even the most talented of artists. This was very touching in that he meant to bring that spirit of hope in John's words, but Stevie's pain is so raw it hurts.

    • @Bhasinish
      @Bhasinish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This isn't a sad song, it's inspirational and aspirational. He's cry because the generations since have failed so miserably to build on this legacy. Yours and mine. We made him cry, not the song.

    I heard Elton John singing Empty Garden his self written tribute to John Lennon.LIVE
    in Liverpool. The response was tremendous from the crowd. Elton does not sing it very often as it upsets him but he HAD to sing it for John in Liverpool . Elton partnered John Lennon on the hit song Whatever gets you through the night and is Sean Lennons godfather. What a shock it must have bern for Elton also

    First time I've seen this Stevie Wonder clip. Very moving. It hit us all hard. I first found out when I woke up at 7am to go to work and I turned to the radio for a few minutes before I got up. Imagine was playing and I could never explain it but I knew something bad had happened. When the DJ came back and he said what had happened I was shook to the core , I couldn't believe it. I shed a few tears that day. His music was all over the radio for days.I was 24 when he died. John Lennons music had been a major part of my life. He still is, his legacy to music will never diminish.

    Just so pleased you managed to get to watch this Harri. So well put 'the man feels what we all cannot see', so spot on. For me I saw one beautiful heart, John Lennon, speaking to another, Stevie Wonder who went on to speak to yet another beautiful heart, yours. If enough people got it, we'd be in a hell of a better place by now. This song is not about wishful thinking, Stevie Wonder understood that.

    There were so many artists in the 60s 70s and 80s that were ahead of their time because they understood that the only relationships that ever matter between each one of us and our creator that's the most important relationship if we've got that one right all other relationships can become better. I can see Stevie choking up while singing that song as a tribute to John Lennon because trust me even when Lennon would sing it when he was alive with no thought of anything like a tribute I found it very hard to keep from choking up just listening to it so I get it it tell such a perfect tail of the reality of what our relationships should be and where we we should be looking instead of where we look. A beautiful song sang by one of my all-time favorite R&B artists Master Stevie Wonder and I pray that he has many more years ahead of him.

    IMAGINE by John "Lennon was inspired by several poems from wife Yoko Ono's 1964 book Grapefruit... Lennon later explained that the song "should be credited as a Lennon/Ono song. A lot of it - the lyric and the concept - came from Yoko, but in those days I was a bit more selfish, a bit more macho, and I sort of omitted her contribution, but it was right out of Grapefruit."
    "Lennon composed the song one morning in early 1971. It was written on a Steinway piano, in a bedroom at his Tittenhurst Park home in Ascot. Yoko Ono watched on as he composed the melody, chords and most of the lyrics, and nearly completed the whole song in one short writing session."
    Taken from "The Story of... 'Imagine' by John Lennon" by Tom Eames (October 2020).

    Talking about songs bringing people together. I recommend The Seekers "I Am Australian" it reflects how the majority of Aussies View People. Most of Us will say "Hello!" and stop to talk with anybody, no matter where they're from. Don't worry about not being an Aussie, We'll be happy to Adopt Your Family as Honorary Australians. Plenty of My Fellow Aussies say it should be Our New National Anthem. But I don't think anyone could Sing it like Judith Durham. An American Couple recently did a Reaction Video to "I Am Australian" and clearly Loved it. It was one of their first New Songs when They Regrouped in the 90's. It was a Big Hit in Australia and Will Never Die in Our Country at least. If someone Says or Does Anything Offensive in Australia They Won't Get Away With It! I remember an Openly Racist Politician tried running for office. A News Crew turned up at His home and interviewed Him for National TV. They Gave Him Enough Rope and He Hung Himself. He lost the Election.

    I remember that I was watching Monday Night Football, Howard Cosell announcing it and a good friend just showing up at my house on their way to an impromptu memorial gathering. It was on the grounds of the Seattle Center at a place still known as the International Fountain. It was built for the 1962 World's Fair so, given the theme of the "Century 21 Exposition", it was only too appropriate.
    Many years later a different group of mourners would gather at the same place at the news of Kurt Cobain's death.
