David Hayes, piano technician and instructor at PTA shows us what the soundboard is and how it works. More info at www.PianoTechnicianAcadey.com #PTA #soundboard #pianotechnician
I found a piano/soundboard leaning up against a dumpster. It's super heavy. I want to do something with it, possibly repurpose it as a wall piece that is "playable" by touch. My question is, will removing the soundboard make a huge difference in the resonance? I'd guess it would matter greatly. I'm a guitar luthier and had an idea, what if I removed the soundboard and mounted the piano directly to the studs in wall in my house/guitar shop? I plan on making a video of this process if you're curious to see what happens. Thanks for the video.
I want to know how exactly it works. If the strings translate their vibrations to the soundboard which amplifies it, would 2 strings vibrating at the same time not just create one frequency determined by the strings?
I’m about to by an electric piano Roland kr 4700 I n great shape for $100. The guy is saying on the ad that the soundboard is having issues. Would it be worthy to buy it?
Short and sweet. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
Where is it?

the soundboard is the part of the piano that makes all the sound, so YES.

How is the soundboard attached to the piano? Is it screwed tightly to the body of the piano? Or does it “float” somehow so that it vibrates better?
