I really appreciate you making such informative videos! It’s so helpful for those of us who will have no other option but to build our own homes because the housing market is so RIDICULOUSLY expensive. While it may not be “legal” to live in this until it’s finished. You could get your basic essentials done first. Then move in and slowly finish it as you earn more money to do things like getting quartz countertops, tiled/custom shower etc etc. Really great stuff man. Please keep making these videos!
Do you have a step by step guide for this style build in written format?I’ve only been able to find post frame builds and maybe a few red iron. Hard to find the galvanized tube style. I’m looking at doing a build just like this and would love a written guide. If not I’ll just come back to this video a lot. Great informative videos!! Keep up the great work!!!!!!
Where do you purchase the metal building? I am not in your state but I imagine there might be other companies closer that manufacture these buildings. They are basically metal barns, correct? If the company you work with also ships, that'll be great!
we plan to try to build a adu like this we plan to use a metal shed and convert the inside did you need a architect or anything for the floor plan the walls and the plumbing? im sure my question is vague because we havent started the process yet
Other than having an enclosed space to build in, how is this method better or cheaper than a traditional build? You put up the metal building, then frame it. Seems redundant. Thanks for the great information and videos.
The metal building goes up in a day and provides the complete, dried-in exterior. The complete open span roof structure (trusses and finished roof) and exterior siding. Windows and doors already installed on day one. Next you frame in the walls, which I did in 2 days with a few friends. We're not framers mind you. The 30 foot open span living room required no framing and no beams. We didn't have to make roof trusses, no exterior plywood sheathing or siding. No roof deck, no shingles. Dried-in and framed up in three days for less than the material costs to do it traditional. I've watched professional crews frame a house. By the time they have siding, shingles, doors and windows in, it has been months!
I love seeing this put together like this with all the steps 👏
Thank you!

I'm glad you like it! Knowledge is how we take back control of our lives.

Yep, basically a metal barn

I drew the floor plan and wall layout and had my plumber draw the plumbing layout. The inspector accepted both
What kind of whole-house ventilation did you use since the structure is air tight? Trying to build also in Louisiana.
Windows and doors are not airtight. I don't have any issues with using my stove hood vent or other exhaust vents.
