Some cats are weird like that. My cat doesn’t eat random stuff, but she does have a weird obsession with rubbing her face and gums on everything. Everything. It gets to the point that the corners of my Switch and IPad have to be cleaned, because she just can’t *not* rub her face on them. She also likes to stand on me with her bony ass paws and leave bruises when she wants something. People think my family abuses me- but no, its my cat’s way of telling me that she’s hungry 🤦 I love her to death, but damn, she has the weirdest habits.
My one cat loved to jump on tall people’s shoulders. She was really good at it, too: a full leap from sitting, no run or climbing needed. She also loved eating tomato sauce and other tomato products.
She was an accidental inbred kitty, though. Brother-sister litter. All the others were weird, too. One of them had pica or something and liked to eat his owner’s hair when they sleep. I dunno what Jambo’s excuse is, besides being orange.
My cat always loved rubbing his face on things, I think it's gotten slightly more since he had his teeth removed. The only issue we had because of this was when I had to spray my plants with neem oil because of spider mites. I didn't know he would rub his face on the pots because they weren't cat height/on my desk until he got a rash on his cheek from a reaction to the neem oil. He lost hair and whiskers while we treated the rash. Also, neem oil just lingers on plastic pots, because even after washing it with soapy water and leaving it out in a Midwest summer, he ended up with another rash because he was rubbing his face on the pots again.

One of my cats is obsessed with eating potatoes, and I just found out a few days ago than another is obsessed with peanuts. He stuffed his whole head in a container of them and wouldn't stop.
Never had a cat do that before, but I know when I had a black cat, he had a habit of knocking over my monitors whenever I wasn't in the room. It got to a point where I had to start laying them face down every time I had to go do something lmao

Hey Schlatt, or anyone reading this. I came back to this video to share a heartbreaking story. My wife and I found a kitten sleeping under a parked truck one day, full of lice and malnourished, probably less than 2 months old. Took home, took care of it and all our other cats loved him. This morning we came home to him limp and choking, i was rushing to find a box to carry him over to the vet, on my way out the door my wife screamed He's gone. And we cried, for the short 2 months that he was with us he has been an amazing part of our family. We found out later he swallowed something massive stuck in her intestine. I came back to this video cause I have no friends to confine in. I dont have anyone to share amazing stories about Ichio, but you listened. Thank you. We love you Ichio.

That's the problem with cats acting "fine" when they're actually not. They're instinctually good at hiding pain and pushing through any discomfort. And sadly that makes it hard for owners to notice the issues early on.

Same thing happens with birds! It’s scary and concerning how well these guys hid their health issues. You won’t know how sick they start showing visible (sometimes extreme) symptoms until it’s too late.

You can buy this indoor grass for cats that can’t actually be digested which improves their bowel movements and vomiting. I think that might help Jambo next time he eats shit he shouldn’t. You shouldn’t worry too much the next time he vomits unless it’s too solid or liquid or too common though, cats do just sometimes eat shit they shouldn’t and throw it back up again

My dude, you’re a good cat owner. It’s not often anymore that you see a dude on his own who not only has a cat, but cares about his cat enough to get two expensive surgeries in such a short amount of time.
Well it looks like he is being overfed a little bit (I have a cat and I constantly worry anout overfeeding her because I love her so fucking much it's insane, I think I know a little about what I'm talking about) And even if a cat is a little over or underweight it will harm them greatly. It could also be where Jambo isn't being overfed and I can't tell because my cat is a completely different breed but Idk, can't really tell. Besides that tho he is a GREAT cat owner and I hope Jambo has a great life.

I hope the little buddy doesn't have an iron deficiency but I don't think Schlatt has really done anything to warrant concern for poor care other than leaving the mic hanging above the cage after talking about how the dude loves to eat foam to the point he's had two surgeries. my own cat, rambo, has the same habit of eating quite literally anything he can get his grubby little paws on. so far he has eaten (and puked up) the following:
- worm-infested prey
- deflated balloons? i have no idea why that was appealing to him
- after being cut back on dry food, he ate our other cat's vomit
- my brother's pet lizard's tail, which we found in a pool of saliva and vomit after a week-long trip. the lizard is still alive, somehow
i have a theory that cats whos names end with -ambo are just dumber than the average cat population. oh well. hope jambo has a speedy recovery

I swear, cats always have the strangest medical problems. A few weeks back, my cat, Merlin, really scared me because he got really sick out of nowhere, and he’s an old guy, around 8 or 9 now. He just out of nowhere started peeing blood and being very quiet, when usually he’s quite vocal. So naturally, I thought the dude was gonna die, so I brought him into the bathroom and gave him a bowl of water and sat with him for a few hours. And after hours of sitting and petting, he was just fine. And not the kind of “fine” someone gets right before they die, no, he was literally just healthy again. Two months later, and the guy’s not shown any signs of sickness since. Don’t know what happened or how it came about, but I guess the dude was just so thirsty he decided to piss blood all over my hoodie.
The guilt or pity on Schlatts face when Jambo is pawing at the cage is adorable ^^

The "he's been in the cone of shame 3 times now" immediately reminded me of our old dog. I don't remember if he injured it first or what, but he for some reason started just licking his paw to the point that it not only became devoid of fur where he was licking, but it also got like, seriously infected, which of course meant he just ended up licking it _more._ So, we put him in the cone of shame, as you do, for like, months. Until the fur grew back and it looked healed. Take it off, is okay for maybe a week, and then immediately starts licking again. Four times. Four times, he licked his paw so much that it was just a patch of infection. I don't actually know or remember what caused him to stop the last time.
Is it possible he was doing it out of stress? Some animals just naturally are high-anxiety, like some humans are, and it can make them groom themselves too much. My old cat used to lick a part on his back until he was bald and I know birds will pluck out their feather because of it.
maybe separation anxiety? i have a dog who will scratch her back until it’s sore if she’s away from my mom.
My mom's boyfriend's dog did the same thing, it got worse after he died but we're working on it now and he's getting better about it. Still chews/licks at his paws a lot but not to the point of infection or sores
Dude my dog literally did the same thing except it was a patch on her leg AND a patch under her tail. Every time we thought it was ok to take the cone off she would lick it raw again. Poor girl was in the cone for almost 3 months. Thankfully she doesn't do it anymore
It’s the same thing with my dog except it’s like everywhere. It was just her paw at first because of some separation anxiety but then she just couldn’t stop and eventually she licked the fur off of her front paws and her stomach. We tried the cone but she always found a way. Always

I had a cat like Jambo when I was young, dude ate absolutely anything... His favorite foods were Cantaloupe and Polly Pocket Clothing. He was a healthy crazy guy but one year, when I was out of the country visiting family, he ate something he didn't recover from. He was staying with friends and was out and about like usual, went to a nearby playground of a school that just so happened to scatter rat poisoning all over the tarmac. There was so much damage to his digestive system that we had to put him down. He was only 2 years old. Rest in Peace Charlie, you were a cool cat.
I'm happy to see Jambo is recovering well though, hope he learns from the Magnet Saga and lives a long, happy life.

having a pet thats sick for a long time sucks, my dog has been sick for like 6 months now, at first it was fluid in his lil belly and we thought nothing of it, we thought he was just a lil bloated, we took him to the vet and then they thought he had cancer and was gonna die in like a week and the vet said that there is nothing we can do to save him now but hes not feeling any pain, we decided to do sum blood work just incase they found sum else and luckily they did after like 1 day, we got the test results back and the vet was unsure if it was cancer or irritable bowel syndrome, so then after like 2 weeks of him being on meds he was doing fine, then something else came up, the meds he was on were very strong and it almost killed him, his white bloodcell levels were dangerously low and we had to send him to the vet again for like 3 days, then he was fine again for a while, and then he started getting bloated again and we started to notice he had a big bump on the side of his chest, at first I thought it was a tumor or something but we took him to the vet and his spleen was basically inflamed and it was massive and if we left it it would have grown to big and eventually hos organs would of shut down, so we had to do a splenectomy on him. The vet said that splenectomy's are a very serious surgery and are vey risky and that he could die in the middle of the surgery, so that night my whole family gathered around and we talked about it and we decided to go for it since hes been fighting this long, the surgery took place the next day at around 7 in the morning and I'm not sure about the rest of my family but I couldn't sleep that night since I spent the whole night crying and worried, I woke up the next morning at around 11 thinking the surgery would be done by now and I thought it was odd that none of my parents woke me up to tell me the good news and I thought that he had died , it turns out my dad already got the call that he made it at like 8 in the morning but he just never told any of us. After all of this he was fine for a while and then he started having these things that we thought were seizures but weren't sure of at the time but the vet said they weren't sure what it is but just to watch out for anything else, then one morning while I was waking up for school he ran underneath my bed really fast and i thought it was normal for him because he always did that but then I heard banging against the wall and I instantly knew it was a seizure , I just remember going as fast as I can to get to him but I couldn't reach him since he was all the way at the back of my bed pressed against the wall, after around 30 seconds of that he came out from under the bed with saliva all over his mouth and he was very scared but also wagging his tail because he was happy to see me and I comforted him. and we took him to the vet, and they gave him sum more medication which helped him for about a week, in the meantime though he was still healing from his surgery and he put a little cute vest on him to stop him from biting the stitches, he then later peed in his vest and the incision got infected so we had to get him some more medication. after all of this he had 3 seizure's in one day so we took him to the vet again and they decided to send us to a specialists since they didn't know what was wrong with him, we then took him to the specialist and it took them, two god damn weeks to get us results back which our parents thought was insane because the vet sent us there in an emergency since there could of been something really wrong with out dog. Turns out my dog is retarted and his brain is unaligned which is a common symptom with people with autism and dogs with autism, I thought this was funny because I always call my dog my little autistic baby. they also thought that there was a cist in the middle of his brain and thats what was causing all of his seizures but after some more tests they were wrong his brain was only unaligned and he never had the cists in his brain. its been like 2 months since that happened and now our dog has a hernia from where the incision was, my dog just cant take a break, luckily nothing else has happened since then and the hernia can easily be fixed with another small surgery. It was very hard for me the whole time and I even skipped a few days of class and almost failed some classes too because I was so worried, to most people a dog is just a pet but to me he is my safety guard from depression and same with my other dog. anyway sorry for venting out here but I hope nothing else happens to Jambo and he lives the rest of his long and healthy life.

Your cat has Pica. You need to setup your home to prevent Jambo from getting to small objects or other things he's attracted to eating. Put stuff away or block him entirely from going entering high risk areas without supervision. He's going to cost you even more bills at this rate or could potentially die.

I’m happy to hear your little Jambo is recovering fine. I actually work at an emergency vet hospital so I’ve seen a lot of cases like this. I really you have pet insurance or CareCredit because surgeries like the once performed on him get expensive quick. Orange tabbies are cute but boy can they also be some dinguses

It's really nice to see Schlatt care so much about Jambo, making sure he's okay, calling him dumb nicknames, making fun of him affectionately, ect. This is the side of Schlatt that doesn't come out often but it's always sweet to see. Jambo is in very good hands, nothing bad will happen to him cause he's got a very loving owner :)

Having a full conversation with your cat is the most cat owner thing ever.
Between me and my friend is a total of currently 9 cats, so we can say confidently that we've seen cat behavior of all kinds. Somehow for reasons we do not know, Jambo seems to be an outlier of the behavior we made ourselves accustom to.
the outlier is probably the inherent dumbness of ginger cats

My aunt used to have a ginger, I didn't see him enough to learn whether he was a dummy, but he was very affectionate. He used to groom her other cat, and if you put your head within range, he would give a little headbutt (cat sign of love)
My cat ate bicycle repair equipment and the procedure to have it removed was 7,000 bucks. We're Canadian and it's possible to get pet insurance but it's still pretty costly.
At 2:03 you can clearly see that there is nothing behind those eyes. Not a single thought. Thats impressive, take care of that cat. Cuz it sure as hell won't take care of itself.
