I really love that you’re using sub t70 armor and with easily obtained potions. It really shows that it’s all down to mechanics and not just all about 100M+ gear. Definitely gonna keep tuning in to the series. One question: If you have a lot of experience have you noticed that running causes helwyr to do his spec attacks more often? I haven’t seen it confirmed but if I’m duo’d and someone runs it seems to really piss off helwyr

So Helwyrs specials aren't ACTUALLY determined by the amount of auto attacks, but rather the time between them, so if that time elapses, even if he doesnt attack you, the next thing he will do will be a special mechanic!
I preach the auto attack method because its much easier to follow than having an internal clock between mechanics :)

One little tip once you're comfortable with the shield switching - if you toggle your Protect from Melee off, it means you'll heal more from the 'You will bleed' attack. The risk is that if you mistime your resonance you'll take more damage, and if you're low that can kill you outright, so only do it if you can consistently land the heals already.
Also, Helwyr is very punishing when it comes to skipping autoattacks. If you're out of range a lot he will just do the mechanics without attacking in between. This can be dangerous if you are not expecting it. It's better to tank the various mechanics as much as possible, and avoid walking Helwyr for bleeds, if you want him to stick to the 'mechanic, two autos, mechanic' pattern.

Great video!! Other guides I've found about this boss seemed really confusing to me as a returning player, but you explained things very well, thanks!

Now I really want to try Helwyr. I always thought it would be hard, but this doesn't seem that bad, especially with the higher level gear I have available. Are there any weird things to be wary of if using 2h instead? Would that cause issues with the shield switch?

No! In fact it is even easier to shield swap using 2h! that way you'll never accidentally attack with revolution while shield switching. Just make sure you change the revolution bar from concentrated blast to sonic wave! Good luck!

Helwyr is really a step up from furies and vindicta. Always gotta use defensives it's pretty annoying

You think this could work with Zammy Warpriest and Vanquish? Or maybe full Banite? Those are what i've got on my iron and I got a Helwyr reaper, not sure how i'll fare

So long as you’ve got the mechanics down, you should be good. Just make sure to manage your adrenaline well. You don’t want to have less than 50% adrenaline during his frenzy attack. I use statius and bandos armor with a dragon rider lance which ain’t too far off from Banite in terms of tier. Your dps will be lower though, so the fight will last longer; Take that into consideration too.
