Cheers, a 170k miles, that's going some, believe it or not mine has only done 19k miles. The bike originated from Jersey, that's not a place to put a lot of miles on a bike.. A lot of the bikes life was spent stagnating in my garage, much to my shame.. Even so I couldn't bear to part with it, I knew I would get it back on the road at some point. It's definitely a keeper, no road tax, no MOT's and cheap historical vehicle insurance. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Very nice Alan! Always good to see a bit of BMW history prowling the streets. I noticed that your knees were inside the fairing as you rode. It’s pretty impossible for me to get my long skinny legs behind there - wish I could, it would be nice to be bit warmer at times. All the best! Joe
Cheers Joe.. I’m afraid my carb work wasn’t a great success, the carb still leaks when on side stand if the bike is on the camber of the road.. I think it’s time for the dealer, we have a good BMW dealer close by, but as usual, they’re expensive. I’m surprised you can’t tuck your legs in, I’m 6’4 with long legs. Wonder if there’s been a slight change in fairing design, I don’t think yours has an oil cooler. 😀
Hi again Tall-Guy. Just watched the "A Quick Ride" video. I had forgotten how close and low your hands are on the RS. I think you may be right, helmet mount for the GoPro. Hope all goes well. Take Care Jim
Pipes sound good. I had a 77, 82 and still have a perfect 88 with 170k miles on it. Keep it. One of the few bikes that will go up in value.
