You have read my mind! I wanted to buy them from Trader Joe’s but didn’t know what to do. I love hellebores, but I’ve previously only purchased them in the early spring. Thank you!
I live in Southern California and hellebores are not sold in our grocery stores, nurseries, Trader Joe’s, Home Depot or Lowes. I have to order them. You’re all so lucky!
Thank you so much for covering the "store bought" variety of Hellebores. It would seem every other video on you tube thinks they are all planted in a garden. Unfortunately, like the others, the subject of watering has been completely overlooked. Underwatering, as well as over watering can kill a plant or weaken it to the point of permanently stunting the plants hardiness. I am not what you'd call a green thumb. With that said, I am still at the stage where I need to better understand ALL the requirements for the care of plants. As I said earlier, I am very appreciative of the material you have covered as I now have the perfect environment / room in my house for this beautiful plant. Thanks again ! !
These are gorgeous! I used to have these in my front landscaping when I lived in Michigan. They’d peak through the last snow. I need to find some for my new garden here in Minnesota. Thanks for this video.
I bought three hellebores today. I am zone 8 and I put them in pots with dianthus, pansies, parsley, and snaps. Beneath the bedding plants I planted tulips, daffs, snowdrops, grape hyacinths. I am hoping for a beautiful spring show.
Yulia I want you to know that I really love your content. I’m a long time subbie and I’ve been under the weather and in bed all day. My family is taking wonderful care of me though. 😊 I wanted to let you know that I’ve been watching your playlist and it’s been soooo relaxing and soothing. Since I’m not feeling well I can’t bother to watch any super upbeat or over the top videos as they would just be irritating. Thanks to you I’m glad that I have something beautiful and relaxing to watch and dose off/wake up to. 😉 May the new year bring you joy and prosperity and all the good things The Lord has to offer. Blessings ❤️
Thanks Yulia! You have really inspired me throughout the years. Hoping to follow in your footsteps one day and become a landscape designer. Thanks for all that you share. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 💖
Thank you so much for this video. I have wanted hellebores for a year now. I am in IN zone 6 and can never find them. They are finally for sale on Amazon through Perennial Farms Marketplace for around $20. Every plant I order through the mail from them has arrived in excellent shape. I got four, but have been hesitant to plant them. It was almost 70 degrees yesterday, but next week is below freezing every night.
Beautiful plants Yulia. I have never ever seen Hellebores for sale at stores here in Illinois for Christmas gift giving. :( I am jealous. Those are gorgeous plants too. Happy New Year to you and family. Take care
Merry Christmas, Yuliya, and Happy New Year! I have several hellebores in a couple different places in my yard and I LOVE them. I was just in TJs yesterday but didn’t see any hellebores. Maybe they sold out before Christmas… I’ll keep watching for them; the ones you bought there are gorgeous!!!
Thank you for your information.I’m really trying to start a collection of these beautiful plants. I’m in Oklahoma so were a zone 7. I’m watching to see if the ones Iplanted last year will return. I’m excitilly waiting!!.
Thanks so much for posting this Yulia! I bought 4 at TJ’s and was wondering what to do next. I’m in zone 6 (or these days we seem to be a 5a micro-climate) so now have to figure out where to overwinter them - my garage is the best option but doesn’t get much light. Wish I had a lovely greenhouse! Happy New Year 🎆
Always found Hellebore Niger to be the most difficult to grow. I planted one a few years ago and it barely survived. I read that they could use a dose of epsom salt and that has definitely helped mine. I grow in zone 6B. I have had much better luck with the orientalis strain. I found they are very drought resistance once they are established, I usually have to keep an eye on them for the first year. In spring I fertilize them and add some compost and mulch. I recently added a yellow variety and found the foliage also has a tint of yellow as opposed to the usual green, read that this is typical of the yellow varieties.
I love Hellebores so much - and so do the early bumblebees and wild bees. Which is why I planted tons of them around my garden. Some of them get completly overgrown and thus shaded out by other plants (asters and mints, for example) in summer, but they don't seem to mind one bit.
I love them, yours are really beautiful. I bought seeds this summer since I can't find them anywhere in my area, and Joe's is an hr away. Really nice to see the bloopers are back.!
Thanks, Yuliya, for the informative video! I bought hellebores from TJ too. Their pots have no drainage hole!! It is better to repot till time to plant outside or water very sparingly, otherwise the roots will rot. Last year's hellebores acclimated very well in dry shade. Have you ever tried to grow them from seed? I am very curious to try. I thought about hand pollinating the potted ones now.
OMG I just got one from TJ's too! I wasn't sure if I could put it in the ground now, I'm in Brooklyn, 7B. It's been in the 50's, can I put it in the ground now? I've had it in the yard for a week in the pot
I am a big fan of the hellebores. I have started collecting them. I haven’t seen them in my area for sale during the winter but would love if I did. I’m in zone 4 it may be too cold. Where did those pots come from I love all three.
Thanks for the info! Still don’t have any, they’re very expensive around here 😐 but I love them. Hoping to get some that have I’ve seen in my area that have what I would describe as darker veins running through the leaves, so cool! Happy New Year and stay safe! Also hoping you and Erin with do more collaborations next year…please!
I buy mine at the end of their "Selling season", basically, when they are done flowering. They are so much cheaper then. Also very small ones are less expensive. They then of course take a while to put on so many flowers. Last year I bought small pots AND divided them right away, so that was super awesome. Some of those tiny things started to flower this winter already!
Hi Yuliya 😊 I have Hellabores in zone 5b and they do great every year. This year the ground maintenance came through and tore them off. How insulting. They aren't suppose to touch my plants! So .. I'm left praying. If the worse should happen, I'll buy more. Love them 💕
@ Gina, I caught my lawn maintenance crew in time and told them not to touch any of my plants, as I have hellebores , hydrangeas, compact butterfly bush, pugster , heucheras, etc.! I have found over the years they have indiscriminately just trimmed off everything ! @Yuilya, I purchased the Ice N’ Roses White collection last March so I’m crossing my fingers that I will see flowers in early 2022 in my garden . I’ve never seen hellebores being sold in the winter in my area.
@@bethheerten1132 Thanks, Beth 🙏. Yes, one of those touchy situations. They certainly won't replace and I'm Not on any trimming list. If I could only tell anyone in the world a "DO NOT", Would be about moving into an ASSociation .. cuz that's what it comes down to. 😒 Hurts my feelings.

Wish I could find potted hellebores. In my zone 8b Austin, Texas, I have never seen them for sale. The hellebores in my garden come from nursery catalogs at outrageous prices.
@@greatgardensforall The headquarters of Whole Foods is only a few blocks away, and we have Trader Joe's too. Will try them, but haven't seen them yet.
Yuliya, I have some Helleborus orientalis in my garden that I have had for over 20 years. They have been a large healthy colony for all that time…until this past summer when they started turning black. After researching online, we came across something called “Black Death”. Have you heard of this or encountered it yourself? We cut back all these plants to the ground in hopes of saving the plants and keeping it from spreading. We did have quite a rainy spring and summer, so perhaps that was the cause. Any ideas or information on this disease, we surely would appreciate. Thanks so much, Susan

Those hellebores are gorgeous! Very informative. Love the bloopers.
Love your bloopers lol
You know, I never see these at my garden center in spring. I guess I’ve been looking at the wrong time and place. Have a happy and healthy New Year!

Amazing helpful content as usual! and In love the bloopers lol

I purchased 28 helebores from Tennessee Master Gardeners ! I planted them all out in a hellebore garden with hostas i hope they all make it❤
Hellebores are on my list of must purchase this year! Thanks 🐝🌸☀️
I bought two from TJ, 9.99 each and they are gorgeous on my Christmas table setting!
I'm in North Florida, zone 8b, I can never find these at any of the garden centers I visit. Loved your bloopers at the end!
Thank you!

A couple of mine in the yard started blooming this week in zone 8 Alabama.

For winter in Toronto Canada , can they be put under a rose hut to protect them from the snow ?

Japanese Anemone your speaking of. That's what I have in 6b. Grow Great in!
