Most Japanese ppl work normal I think 8 hours a day but some others work very long and overtime which is bad especially if it's often

This is unsurprisingly very calming and relaxing for my soul
I just want to crawl into this film clilp and live there forever! Tokyo looked SO wonderful in the 1960's and 70's! I do think this is maybe a few years after '70 because some of the fashion, cars, and a few of those skyscrapers in Shinjuku (shown at the end) had not yet been built, but still early-to-mid 70's. Lovely!
But i still agree with my friend here...Japan was Better before because people had souls back in 70s... Now people work non-stop and are less social

@@burgertim7878 I did know that. As is always the case, unless during a wartime, the past "seems" a calmer and more simple time because we're constantly getting hit with knew unknowns, like Covid 19, in the present. and the problems of the past become known history.
So I'm seeing that time with a lot of romance. I also know that, socially, shit was hitting the fan in those years for Japan. EVERYTHING was changing very quickly: extended families were no longer living together, people's post-war-time homes were being bulldozed to make bigger danchi apartment blocks; pollution was a toxic bi-product of industry, It was NOT a calm time, everything was being "Westernized". but it was also an amazing renaissance for that Showa-era.
It was both scary and great.

Golden age for Japan on 70’s,80’s.
I’m Japanese, This was the golden era of Japan 🇯🇵 from 1967 to until 1985 was the bubbles boom in Japan 🎊💰💵💸💰🥂🍾 money was everywhere🎌✨ life was so much good. Japan was the richest country in the world 🌎🎌💰, world tourism business are effected if Japanese tourists didn’t came into their country, I still remember that when I visited Italy in 1979 people called me rich man rich man oh Japanese rich man , but I was 21yrs old ordinary man who was working in the real estate office in Tokyo, actually, my office boss took us to the vacation. In the 70s, 80s, and early years of 90s, most Japanese companies took their staffs to the overseas vacations 🏖️🥂🍻🍮 it was called’ KHAISA RYOKO’

Ah yes, Japan in before the bubble burst in the early 1990's. It was the beginning of the end of Japan's infallible economy. Everybody, including the Japanese thought it would never end. Only a few short years later, Japan's economic bubble would pop and lifetime employment as they knew it would be over. Suddenly, we found that the Japanese workers were not so much unlike American workers or British workers or other workers. They didn't necessarily enjoy being owned by the company and giving all of their lives to the company either.
Most Japanese men of that generation retired with few hobbies or interests beyond work, yet they were forced to retire young. They were like living ghosts. The Japanese workforce of today is not like this. They are much more like their western counterparts - working to live instead of living to work.
Japan has still not fully recovered from the 90s bubble era burst debt is increasing and the economy is not looking so good.
I have been learning Japanese for one year and as a student I have had the opportunity to participate in 4 tea ceremonies. I truly admire and love Japanese culture so much!

Ohhh I love and missed Japan...I'm in the US Navy stationed in Atsugi Navy Base in 1972 - 1976.
I'm Japanese and living walk distant place from Atsugi base.
I had been worked on Kamiseya base when I was student 80-84. They‘d already fallen into ruin now.
Townscape and the atmosphere of this small town isn't changed.

Great vid. Here in Japan I sometimes run across HD movie made before 70s, but the film condition is worse than this. I could see people's subtle facial expression or even desk pencils on desk. Quite amazing you've saved the footage for many years.

Watching the period where my passed away grandpa living in his 20s life makes me feel poignant about it.
I never heard about his life story since he passed away when I was still small.
I just hope that he did live his youthful life happily and without any regrets.

Is this perhaps a slightly misleading advertisement meant to draw foreign workers to Japan? Or were things just much more laid back in the 70's? I lived in Japan for a year in 2015 and from what I've seen and heard from friends, things like tea rooms and volleyball at lunch are not remotely common.

I'm not sure how I feel about these kinds of programs. It's almost as if they were shot with the intended purpose of showing how America's little project has been "progressing" since the occupation. The idea of an entire country being monitored and treated as some sort of experiment upsets me to some degree.

Thank you for sharing this video. Very interesting. I was very pleased to see a married career woman was included among the people profiled. Hard to imagine this was just a few years after some of the other videos you've posted, with aproned housewives greeting hubby at the door and even scrubbing his back in the bath. Two such contrasting paths for women existing in the same era.
Documental is more from 1974-1975. The skyscraper of Shinjuku area that be appears at last section were built between 1971-1975, including the Shinjuku Mitsui Building that be completed in 1974. Fashion were of mid 1970s (1974-1975).

自分の住んでいる首都圏でも近所に24時間営業のコンビニが出来たのは85年位でした。
コンビニの存在自体は「おじゃまんが山田くん」で知りました。
