Beats the Remington 700: Bergara Bolt Action

  • We were impressed by this Bergara B14 precision bolt gun. I think of it as a product-improved Remington 700. It is an ideal candidate for a police sharp shooter rifle. We found the good looking Bergara to make totally reliable with positive Sako extraction, accurae (with match or hunting loads), fast, and smooth. The AICS compatible detachable magazine worked w/o finckyness. The easy-adjust stock on the HMR B14 is similar to McMillan but lighter. Add in a threaded barrel, extended bolt knob, and flush mount QD cups. The price is aggressive as well and the whole package embarrasses many so called custom or semi-custom builds.

I'd love a feature length 1000 yard shootout video where you put budget rifles against your custom rifles. Throw in the NLR, the Bergara, the Ruger Precision, and whatever else ya got that can reach out that far. Some cheaper savage, mossberg, and ruger options. Maybe even some SAPR's. I'd love to see how much the extra money really helps at 1000+.

I have the Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is awesome and I am getting 0.3 MOA with match ammo. I had to back order the gun as no one had them in stock. Cabellas said that it was back ordered for 5 weeks but it arrived in about 10 days. If Nutnfancy was using a better scope and better ammo he would be showing much better groups. The stock feels great and looks fantastic. Comes threaded for a muzzle break or silencer. Trigger is very nice. No issues at all with this gun.

Love my Remington 700, had a 1993 with wooden stock with pearl white trim on a wooden stock.
inherited and passed over to a cousins family, and now I still have my fathers 2003 R700 and its reliable, and as beautiful as can be.
Big downside is living and never left Georgia, vacationing in souther GA and alabam, I never had the chance to shoot over 400 yards.

Bought my first Remington Model 700 back in 72 or 73.... Most current purchase about 10 years ago..... a CDL in 25-06.... My response to this video is to let you know that from the early 70s to now, I have owned and shot many different Remington Model 700 rifles in standard and magnum calibers and use some of them in the role of sniper rifle in LE and some of them for small game and general field shooting and many of them for big game hunting. I tailored hand-loads to each rifle regardless of caliber. The majority of these 700s were "off the shelf" non-modified bedding rifles with Leupold scopes of either vari or fixed power installed. Sighted and tested at 100 yards, sand bag rest, three shot groups ala Jack O'Conner and Elmer Kieth.... It has been my pleasure in using Remington Model 700 bolt action rifles over 40 years, to experience groups of 3 that usually went 3/8ths - 1/4 in. and rarely went over 1/2 in...... I did have a couple that had bedding issues and would not group below 1.1/4 in. without being glass bedded, but they were the exception to the rule.
The guys that I shot with in the late 70s during the growing silhouette games enjoyed that model 700 accuracy in that pursuit as well. Yes, some went for the Sako extractors as did I for a trial or two, but in forty + years, and thousands of rounds under the 4 seasons of conditions year after year, I have not experienced nor seen a Remington extractor fail! The fact is, a sub 1/2 in. rifle will turn in a credible group at 1,000 yards and the rifles that I spoke of in the above paragraph were all sporter weight hunting rifles in common hunting calibers! I have owned Remington Model 700 ADL rifles equipped with 3-9 Leupold scopes in .300 Win Mag. and Hand-loaded for with 180 gr. Nosler BTBT bullets that gave three shot groups of 1/4 in. any time it was tested from the bench..... It shot very well out to 1,000 yards back in those days as well. There might be some rifle that perform better than some Remingtons, but Remington still produces the 700 because when attached to a good barrel like the 5R, it shoots.....maybe its the shooters out there that can't get it done....

Awesome video! I snagged one of the first ones of these in 6.5 creedmoor and it has been a great Rifle! Mine had a similar scenario at the very beginning I did a minor break in process and it was hovering around 1.3 inch groups but after 25 rounds it tightened up and has rocked ever since! Well under moa with quality ammo and 100% reliable. Bergara really knocked it out of the park on this one for the money! Don't even think twice just buy it! I was comparing it to the ruger PR and the savage stealth BA stealth and I have to say the flexibility and ergos of the HMR win hands down for me! Buy a reloading setup because your gonna wanna shoot it alot!

If you think that a rifle you're testing could stand up to the challenge, I, and probably a lot of other guys on here, would say it's worth it to push out to extreme ranges in testing. It's your time and money, of course, but I think a lot of us would enjoy really seeing the maximum potential of the precision rifles you test. The views would probably make up for the extra time spent.

Keep this stuff up, I think you still have tons of ground to cover once you get more into LR shooting especially in the Scope department. take a look at Athlon, coming out with the best bang for your buck scopes with super I dollar type reticles and other features. love all the Savage bolt guns as well.

one source for very accurate rifles is if you can find a ex-bench rest rifle. Sometime they can be found for less than your firstborn child. What a bench rest shooter sells as a shot out rifle will likely be way more accurate than what you can shoot. I bought a 308 four years ago that that will put 168 sierras into the 2s regularly but was gotten rid of because it won't shoot in the 15s any more.

Here's the drill, Bill. If the grid goes down with an EMP burst and people lose their minds and get ugly, the days of providing cover fire with a bump fire or an Echo trigger are over. We going to be back on the edge of medieval times. No joke. So every bullet you send downrange brings YOU closer to being the one getting shot. Nobody's going to be making anymore. There won't be your old, friendly LGS to mosey on down to, to get a box of ammo, anymore. "Click" is a lonely sound at the end of times. This weapon Nutnfancy's showing here, a long distance weapon, is the new cover fire King. Your adversaries will be pissed after crawling 800-1000 yards to your position only to find you turned into dust. And if you wound one of them in the process, great.

Guys, we need to kill these bills: HR3962, HR3999, HR4025, HR4052. Consider yourself a patriot and 2A absolutest? You will call your federal representative today and ask them to take a stand. No, not tomorrow, today. Writing compelling letters are even better. Goforth my fellow citizens, and fight.

Ruger American predator in 6.5 would be a good one to review, I know you have done .308.

I don’t know those rings look like they have some MOA built in just comparing the gap between the base and the scope compared from front to back but it could be an optical illusion...

That's why you always add 5grand to the actual purchase price, if they add 2g on top of that, i'll take the cash and have a clone made lol.

NUTN! I live right by gunnies in orem , any interest in doing a review on my glock 30s? , I know you've done the 30 already, but I find this one to have some different shooting and carrying characteristics because of it's frankenstein design. If at all interested, reach out to me here to let me know when you would want to pick it up from gunnies.

So I'm a young adult, that loves the outdoors and been watching this channel for years growing up. And I'm finally 21, and want to start collecting and shooting more. But I live in california. So I kinda wanted your opinion if I should wait to buy pistols and rifles when I move in a couple years to Utah or Texas? Or buy ca compliant guns and try to sell them when I leave? And I am gonna get a benelli shot gun but I was more curious about rifles and pistols. And if reselling and using now would be worth it. Thanks nutn

William Randall , don't wait. Get a "compliant" rifle NOW and go training with appleseedinfo.org as to build your skills, which don't come to anyone overnight.

M K I was reading the new laws in california and its utterly ridiculous. I'm gonna go in to a mom and pop shop and talk to him about it. Because stores have to have a license for ammo and I have to have a background check for ammo. And I can't order online to my house, it must be to a dealer and then me. Plus bullet button rifles are now "assault" weapons which is even more of a headache. I'm even scared for my shotgun montefeltro I want if it will also have to be compliant in some way
