    My first Budgie was with me for 10 months everyday, side by side, he was hanging out next to me while I worked. When I went back to the office I brought a 2nd budgie home so he wouldn’t be so lonely. They love each other, and he still is close to me. The 2nd one follows his lead. ❤

    I was away from my son and his cockatiels for five years. The tiels remembered me, and my budgie. My bird remembered the tiels, and my son. After two years I moved back to family in another state. My budgie remembered my grandkids. They're sharp little guys. 💕

    This is great but I just want to add that budgies need the vitamin D from sunlight. So they need a few hours each day in partial shade (so they don't overheat).
    The vit D supplements alone stop working once the sun generated vitamin D gets too low. Once vitamin D levels get low it messes with their calcium. The combination of low vitamin D and low calcium causes gizzard dysfunction which ultimately leads to death. Symptoms such as low mood, vomiting are possible indicators of gizzard dysfunction. Many budgie owners think their budgies just live for 6 or 7 years but they actually can live up to 20 with 15 being the average.
    It can take up to a year for budgies to get their vitamin D levels back up so make sure to not feed them anything that could impact their gizzard like leaves from trees while they are getting strong again!

    Hi Alen and budgie community, 👋I am in a bit of a pickle and a need for advice. I had two budgie boys, Bertil and Rocky. They got along great, with Bertil being the more brave one and explorer who would get Rocky out of his shell when it comes to playing, eating new things, running on the floor, flying and human contact.
    Sadly two weeks ago, my precious baby Bertil died of cancer. Rocky was very sad, he would not chirp or preen and just kept on sitting on a perch. So we decided together with my partner we would find him a new brother, as Rocky was never before without other budgies.
    After a week of grief (and yes Rocky did get to see Bertil and get his farewell) we found a 4 month old budgie boy that could use a new home. The boys get along well, the new boy - Benji - has been checked by a vet and we introduced them slowly, they each have their cage and they share the apartment for flying together so no problems there. Rocky even started to chirp again though he does not do the usual male budgie songs anymore.
    They eat together and sit next to each other but a problem is, Benji is a very timid boy. He does not chirp much or explore much and even though he is not afraid of people he is cautious, which is natural.
    But now Rocky started to mimic Benji. All they long they sit on a swing they have high up next to a window, silent and only come down for food and drink. Rocky even started to be cautious of me, he doesn't want to take treats from me anymore. They don't play even though my whole apartment is full of toys and playgrounds and everyday I spend time to try and lure them to the toys with treats, budgie sounds and generally trying to make them alluring.
    It has even come down to it being hard to get them to the bed. Rocky used to just fly in with Bertil and settle on their respective perches but now he lurks about for two hours sometimes three and just doesn't want to go in and it is impossible to lure him with millets and he doesn't want to step up anymore.
    I am at a loss at what to do. Is this possibly a phase and it will pass when they get more in sync with the new circumstances? Should I leave them be or should I do more?
    I worry especially about how silent and un-energetic they both are but they have been both to the vet this month and they are healthy (they had crop swab and droppings sampled too) so this is psychological.
    I would be grateful for any advice.

    I have already scratched my bird a bunch of times, and stroked, and fed from my hand. But an hour later, the bird is again afraid of me, as if all my taming had not happened. This problem has been going on for a month now. (and still bites until blood and bruises)

    • @pixiedreamz
      @pixiedreamz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe they like being more independent. I have budgies like this. I give them their space and instead usher them into their cage when I need to etc. They show their affection to me with songs. Budgies, are a great lesson in that there are many ways to show love-like talking to each other or singing to each other. Once you start listening to what they prefer, your budgie will feel safer and perhaps sometimes step up on your finger when you are putting them to bed in the evening.
      My super independent budgie didn't like being handled or given too much attention but most days Id catch him sitting somewhere behind me singing me a cute little song. I'd use my phone to look at him but if I turned around he would fly off. That was just him. That's how he felt comfortable showing his affection. Dammit I miss him.
      When you are handling them make sure not to stroke their back (it's sexual) and don't hold their whole body in your hand as they find it difficult to breathe and very scary, which can make them associate your hands with scary things.
      I love all my budgies and the lessons they have taught me. They aren't really pets, they're more like very loud obnoxious family members whose lives are in your hands. At the same time, you are part of their flock and they recognise that.
      They are extremely loving and will notice when you are gone-just as you will notice them gone. One of my buddies gets sassy with me when I'm gone for too long and will give me the cold shoulder.They need attention as they are social animals. Keep them happy and they in turn will keep you happy as you are part of a flock now.

    i have a male and a female budgie it has been a while since we let them out of the cage today we let them out the male was flying around as usual but the female is just jumping around unable to fly
    From a long time I noticed that her poo is long and it just stay there for a while and since we brought them she wasn’t able to fly across the room and fall in the middle of it but I thought this was normal since I learned that females aren’t as active as males
    I hope that if you know what has gotten to her do tell me
    What is it and what is the cure to it

    My budgie beak is really pointy. So the smallest bite and it really hurts. How can you make the beak less sharp….. so the bites don’t hurt as much

    • @alenaxp
      @alenaxp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Budgies' beaks naturally grow and sharpen as part of their normal growth cycle. However, there are a few things you can do to help keep your budgie's beak from becoming too sharp and causing painful bites.
      First, make sure that your budgie has plenty of things to chew on, such as cuttlebone, mineral blocks, and bird-safe toys. Chewing on these items can help wear down the beak naturally and keep it from becoming too sharp.
      You can also provide your budgie with regular opportunities to groom their beak by offering a shallow dish of water for them to bathe in or a misting spray to help them clean their feathers and beak. This can help keep their beak smooth and prevent any sharp points from forming.

    I recently got a new female budgie for my male budgie . She is all good healthy and happy but she got one issue which is bothering me . She got no feathers around her vent and her poop often sticks around her vent . Is this normal or should I be worried ???

    • @alenaxp
      @alenaxp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not uncommon for budgies to have feathers missing around their vent, especially if they have been plucking or preening excessively in that area. However, if your female budgie's vent area appears red, inflamed, or irritated, or if she seems to be straining to pass her droppings, then it may be a cause for concern. If you are concerned about your budgie's vent area, it's a good idea to schedule an appointment with an avian veterinarian.

    Hello brother my bugies and not entering breeding box and my seller said they only enter when they wanna breed can you tell me which is true and bugies why not entering breeding box

    • @alenaxp
      @alenaxp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Whether or not budgies enter a breeding box is influenced by various factors, such as their age, health, environment, and hormonal state. In general, budgies are more likely to enter a breeding box when they are in breeding condition and ready to mate. However, this does not mean that they will always enter the box when they are ready to breed.
      It's important to keep in mind that budgies may need time to acclimate to their new environment and feel comfortable enough to breed. Some budgies may prefer different types of breeding boxes or nesting materials, so it may be worth experimenting to see what your budgies prefer.
      If your budgies are healthy and in good condition, and have had enough time to adjust to their new environment, then it's possible that they may simply not be ready to breed yet. It's important to be patient and allow them to breed at their own pace.

    I got my buddies for two months first a got the female she was not scared I was hand feeding her etc she was cuddly too. After a 3 weeks I got the male and since the male appired the female became distant she’s scared etc so I decided to take it slow again the male is better not that scared but it seems like female don't want to trust me at all. Do you know why this happens? I'm wondering if I did something wrong.

    • @alenaxp
      @alenaxp  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible that your female budgie is feeling stressed or uncertain with the addition of the male bird, and this may be causing her to be more hesitant or fearful around you.
      It's important to give your birds plenty of time and patience to adjust to each other and to their new surroundings. You may want to try gradually introducing them to each other in a neutral space, such as a separate cage or play area, and supervise their interactions to ensure that they are getting along.
