I remember the first time my husband and I listened to this. We were blasting it so loud that our neighbor
came over and banged on our door to tell us to turn it down. I said "Oh sorry.....but its the new Metallica!" My husband teased me about that for years. Rest in peace, Dave, I miss you.
As for the freight train in the song I always take it that you think life is going along great, everything good for you....and then the freight train is when things turn bad and the dreams are over.
They did 2 concerts with the San Francisco Orchestra. They are both amazing 🔥🔥🔥. Metallica is from San Fran🤘🏼
I believe when they knew they were doing this concert, they wrote this song and another one with the orchestra. It's not an old song and the orchestra was added. Great reaction

That Eminem song is actually an Aerosmith song, but re arranged and with Ems lyrics. It's probably one of the most know rock songs of all time. And also Aerosmith were definitely an influence on Metallica. So yeah, you are kinda right
I have been a ROCK NUT my whole life and a Metallica fan as well. I LOVED this song the very 1st time I heard it when it 1st came out yrs ago and I had NO idea what the song meant back then as a kid. Now that im older and KNOW to listen to the lyrics, I realize just how great this song is. I put it in my TOP 10 FAVORITE Metallica songs! 😀👍🏾

There’s a old saying “there’s a light at the end of the tunnel” meaning signs of improvement or that things have been bad for a very long time
"Sing for the Moment" is actually a sample of Dream On by Aerosmith. I'm not a huge fan of them, personally, but they're one of the most popular rock bands of all time.
I had never noticed the similarities in the riffs until you mentioned it. That's a great shout.

Light at the end of the tunnel is a phrase that means that you believe a bad situation or something very difficult going on in your life will come to an end. That situation you’re in is the dark tunnel. The light at the end is you not being in the tunnel anymore.
But.. in this song the light is not the ending that you’re expecting. It’s a train that’s about to run you over and put you deeper into that tunnel.

Sing for the Moment took samples from Aerosmiths song Dream On. The singer of Metallica is a big Aerosmith fan. I always thought it sounded a lot like that and I figured he probably was inspired by the song.

I always took the line "turned around and found the right line" to be about coca cola. Which would make the freight train either the come down from the high point or longer term addiction. Knowing addiction has been an issue for the lead singer (though I don't believe cola), it could also be a relapse. Where he is looking away from the substance but encounters the option/opportunity to partake again spiraling down. I also think that the line "All the pieces fall to his wish" is a vague reference to another of their songs you should review but don't want to give you the name since it kind of gives away what that song is about before you review it. I could be totally off base, but this is what I took from this since it came out. I bought the album at midnight when it came out. lol Also, please let me know where I can get either a schedule of or what platform you will be streaming on live so I can join. TY, and great stuff as usual.
