I'm glad that I found your video. My doctor didn't go in this depth about my weight loss options nor give her professional advice on which may work best for me. Today is my first day taking it and I was a bit nervous based on the side effects, but I so needed a "jumpstart" to lose weight because I feel like it's making my depression worse. I so hope that it helps without any negative repercussions.
I know these vids are old, but they’re still appreciated. I need to lose about 30 lbs and I keep hearing people throw around phentermine. I’m gonna see my PA this week about getting a prescription.

I had an injury several years ago after being very active and managing my weight for years. Fast fwd. Working from home, injury complications and up 30-40 lbs. Started a modified workout 3-4 days, improved diet and the scale hasn't moved. I also turned 50. My dr suggested a weight loss aide a year ago and i said No. Well, This is day 2 of phen. Insurance denied two labels but approved phen. Yesterday I was a cleaning fool! I'm logging my food directly to my calendar and my experience. I was peeing alllll day. I drink water regularly and so far minimal issues w dry mouth. I already take melatonin and magnesium for sleep and plan to continue using the aides per usual. Hoping for great kickstart and getting back into clothes I havent worn in a long time.
Will weigh 2x the first week, then weekly on Saturday AM. And will continue to front load protein in the morning which has helped with hunger, snacking and cravings, in general. I will continue my regular vitamins iron, Vit D, Bcomplex, acidophilus, zinc. Planning to add folate.

Hmmm lets say someones insulin resistence is really messed up and their metabolism is also messed up from antipsychotics would this be a better option more or less for weight loss than say Metformin? If you're trying to heal your adrenals and they are improving, but not 100%yet, is it wise to take phentermine? Also, if you're doing 2 hours of cardio a day and still not losing while watching what you eat. On armour and liothyronine, and wondering if taking bio identical estrogen could be destroying all my efforts. 25lb to lose. I do notice that shortly after I ate i'm hungry again, that i run am average body temperature of 95 in the morning before rising, and based off of a proper food, fat, protein, low carb, things are just not making sense. If i'm not starving myself, eating organic, grass fed, veggies, good fats, low carb. I should feel satiated and i'm trying to find the underlined reason as to why that signals not happening. I get plenty of water and i'm 48.

both work similarly some insurance companies will cover 1 more so than the other but otherwise not much difference aside from capsules cant be split into smaller doses

Hello! My dr prescribed me phentermine/Wellbutrin combo. If I end up having side effects, I wonder how I will know which medication is giving the side effects? Do you ever prescribe the combo?
Thats a good point. The doctor should know by the side effects that you are experiencing because each medication has its own profile. I often prescribe phentermine for patients already on wellbutrin but usually I dont start both together at the same time as new medications.

OMG!!!! I came here to say this EXACT same thing... I’m only on 15mg, which im really pissed about... Anyway, the first 2 days, I had that beautiful burst of energy.... I started on the 15th. i still workout EVERY single day. But no burst of energy. And for the past 2 days, Im able to sleep through the day. (I wasnt able to do that before.) Idk whats going on. Smh. Im gonna stay the course. Im going to believe that consistency is key. But wtf??? I loved that beautiful BUZZING feeling. 😔😔 I want that back.

The goal is that if you eat properly now, don't skip meals, eat plenty of protein. and vegetables and stay hydrated that you will establish solid eating habits that you will be able to maintain long term. Use the medication to perfect your eating habits. Also stay active so that it will be easier to maintain your weight long term.

I struggle with thyroid and try to eat as clean as I can on most days (healthy fats, proteins, lots of veggies 🥗 try to stick to low carb diet ) I also take supplements that help with thyroid functions (zinc, selenium, vitamins B12 and magnesium, vD, & collagen) I started taking Phentermine 3 weeks ago and thus far have lost 7ibs. In those 3 weeks, I still feel hungry at night and crave sweets. I still have yet to get into exercising, but will be doing soon, so I don’t lose muscle mass. What Else could I be doing to improve? I am up to half a gallon of water a day right now. I know I got to up my water intake, but is there more that I should do ? I have 4 more months of this prescription and my goal weight while on this medication is 50ibs down. My goal weight is 135ibs.
There have been numerous people on here commenting that either the phentermine isn't or doesn't seem to work for them (still eating and sleeping throughout day) and/or it worked the first couple days and isn't anymore. What is your opinion on this? Do you believe that it's still working even if we don't necessarily feel it working and can sleep throughout the day & night just fine with it? Are then just some healthy people it doesn't work for? Can you please answer a lot of us with the answer to those questions of it not working for them or working just the first couple days. I really appreciate all your other replies to people's comments and your overall knowledge and advice about the medicine. I personally am one of the many asking this question(s) about it not effecting us or only after first couple days. I am able to still take a nap 2x a day if wanted and still sleep just fine at night. Also would you recommend someone take half in am and half in evening or the whole thing in the am. I have commented previously that not every medication will work for every patient this is the same for phentermine. If someone does not have appetite suppression or energy or if they are not losing weight its possible that its not working for them and in those cases I recommend trying a different medication.

Yes I do virtual consultations often. For prescriptions/medication you have to be seen in person. If you are asking for 2nd opinion, nutrition assistance, or want to do our meal replacement program or advanced nutrition testing the virtual visit can be very useful.

Would alternate day fasting with phentermine be effective or help with a plateau?
I will have a video coming up soon on fasting with weight loss medication. You have to be very careful because weight loss medicine suppresses hunger and if you don't know how to deal with hunger and cravings once off medication you can gain even more weight than lost. I don't recommend fasting with weight loss medication- unless you were already doing it prior to starting medicine.

I've taken this but I have built a tolerance. I've given myself months off the pills and when I come back to it it still does not work :( I'm getting my big hunger and cravings back :( what can I do?
This is a challenge and can be frustrating so I understand. If you've already given yourself a "medication holiday" or break from the medication, the next best step is to consult a specialist to recommend a different weight loss medication for you, this way you continue getting weight loss results but don't risk regaining the weight that you've lost. You can definitely maintain weight loss off phentermine but a lot of times if people stop the medication too early the set point or physiology has not changed yet, this may explain the reason you have hunger and cravings.

So I’ve been on phentermine for a month I had changed my eating habits and was walking but wasn’t going anywhere so my dr prescribed it I’m on the tablet 32.5 (I think). And it’s just about a month and I haven’t even lost a lb I drink a ton of water and a Coke Zero a day.

Be sure to discuss with your doctor or whomever is prescribing because they will have your full health history for example someone with insomnia may not be able to do that - so discuss with your medical team

It's safe to take during your menstrual cycle. Once you start you want to continue daily so that you can build a eating routine and consistency.

I’m on my 5th day on this pill and so far I lost 5 pounds only by jus eating good . I am scared to work out because my heart rate gets crazy and I get out of air on this pill randomly through out the day . In feel like I’ll have. A heart attack or something

Just an additional side note. Since say another makes you hunger rise, but I find on days that I don't do exercise my hunger is the same.

Inches count so if you are losing inches you are losing body fat. It could be due to gaining muscle or the weight loss may follow but losing inches and fitting better in clothes is a sign of fat loss.

If you are drinking a lot more water than you were before it could be water weight
It may be that you're retaining water. Ask your dr to prescribe a diuretic. My weight loss clinic prescribes them. Plus you may want to watch the amount of sodium you consume. It causes water retention.

I had a girlfriend who took Fred of me, and about a year after she used it, she had heart problems. It can cause problems can cause kidney problems, and anyone that takes this to within know that you're gambling, you're throwing the dice and you don't know what it can do to you.
My psych gave me this medicine without even weighing me and I have a 20 year history of bulimia smh...yeah I'm overweight now but drs are so irresponsible.
sorry that happened to you. I have a pretty extensive first visit - its an hour with a 60 question intake to evaluate that the plan is right for the patient and includes physical exam. I dont claim to be perfect but I definitely try my best to do what's best for each patient.
