We did as part of NATO and our force was not big but we do have a memorial in a south Korean city for our fallen.
Honestly how can you expect the average south Korean to know that? You think the average Greek knows of the new Zealanders and Australians that fought and died here in the second world War?

My Greek grandfather fought at Korea and always telling me stories of that period of his life. So proud of him going and helping the Korean people. Lots of love from Greece.
my home town had 3 people (1 of them is still alive) that fought in the korean war alongside nato and the south koreans, my grandpa remembers them and he still tells him how brave they were when they came back!
I was surprised by the fact that the Korean War was not mentioned. My uncle died there.... Anyway, Koreans should know that they have had a lot of common struggles with the Greeks: they were both colonised at some point, went through so much until they managed to gain their freedom, they were attacked, they went through a civil war with the communists, went through an economic crisis, military coups, they have mandatory military service thanks to their "friendly" neighbors, they are threatened with war every goddam day and have neighboring countries constantly saying this island or that island is theirs. Sigh. We are very traditional, have strong family bonds, we like going out and we have open bars and restaurants 24/7.
I say exactly the same thing....we have a lot of common situations...also we fought for our freedom...I think for that reason all that Greek troops came there and fight behind your countries...I have read a lot for the Korean history...

only santorini is known from greece but there are thousand beautiful places and islands in greece. greece like Korea is a coastal country with 12.000km shoreline. so everywhere you go you can find beautiful places not so crowded and not so expensive. as for the sunset in all the Aegean the sunset is like santorini

When you look at the things that should matter, Greece and Korea are not that different. They are both placed in a penninsula, they have both sea life and mountain life. We've been through poverty so we value food, friends, our family. We can be timid and wild. We even have the same sound for yes (Ne)!

I am Greek but had the best new years experience last year in Jeonju. Now Ive been learning Korean. Omg its SO DIFFICULT lol but Ill keep trying. I loved everything in South Korea however as a vegetarian I struggled with food in some places.

Greece always faced crisis on economics after a lot of wars had taken place and until nowdays they own money to Greece big Countries for war damages and loss. Greece is magical in every way. Greeks are awsome too , they know how to have fun they work hard and they have "filotimo" and that only Greeks got it.

I lived in Korea for six years and was very well received. I attended the Orthodox churches in Seoul and Busan and treated well by everyone. The two countries have a lot in common and I am proud to have lived in each country. I love Korea and Greece very much. It seems that the younger generation in Korea doesn’t have a very deep understanding of Greece’s history unfortunately.

While turks were fighting with their korean brothers in Korean war, greeks and cypriot greeks were genocide and ethnic cleansing on turkish cypriot.
My grandfather fought in the greek civil war against the communists, and after this he was part of the GEF in the korean war.
He never spoke about the wars. I found some pictures, his uniform and some medals in his wardrobe. He passed away on August 2001 after losing his final battle against cancer.

Coming from a Greek, Santorini is so much overated and overpriced. It's a nice island to go for vacation, if you are willing to spend money of course, but there are many other islands outside of cyclades you can visit and make wonderful memories, with better scenery and half the money.
My suggestion, look for a smaller one, more traditional and outside the top ones. The elderly love tourists, they will hug you and treat you kindly and respectfully.
