Dear German friends, just a friendly reminder. When you interact with waiters etc. in Greece, please have in mind that in many cases these guys and girls are highly educated people who do this job in the summer in order to survive and not because they like it or because they are not capable or smart enough to do something else for a living. They would absolutely prefer to do something else instead of serving your majestry for 2.5 euros per hour. That's what they get, so please be kind to these people, they deserve it

Also be kind to waiters in any other country and regardless of their education or looks, or whether you are from Germany or somewhere else
Respect should be for everyone and from everyone despite the working position and the nationality. I am not aware if you had a poor experience with Germans but most of the times I see Greek people being disrespectful to Greek people.

Theodorakis war ein international anerkannter Komponist. Besonders in den 60-80er Jahre
Nicht zu vergessen Maria Farantouri und Theodorakis und die Militärdiktatur in Grichenland.
@@nicolashachfeld3770 Männer wie Patakos, Papadopoulos, Mekarezos und Zoitakis bewundere ich sehr. Solche Leute müssen wir auch in Holland und Deutschland haben. Theodorakis war ein Kommunist, ein Freund der Sowjet-Union.
Als ich von meinem Heimatland abgehauen bin,bin ich ungefähr 2 Jahr in Griechenland gelebt.
Die sind total freundlich und respektvoll ich hab nur die positive Gedanken dort.
Ich habe vor,eine tolle Reise dort zu machen.
Ich hoffe dass du es schaffst und dass du ein wunderschönes Zeit im unsere Land hast!!🇬🇷❤️

Ich hab viele Bücher und Artikel über Griechenland gelesen. Ich bin der Meinung, dass dieser Ort, wo von alles hier angefangen wurde. Anaksimandros, Thales, Epikur usw. können wir zahlreiche Beispiele geben. Obwohl wir als politische nicht reibungslos ist, mag ich Griechenland sehr. Grüße aus Türkei.

As a Greek, I think that Germans are great people. Intelligent and passionate about life.

@ Anastasia Tas7 Liebe Anastasia , vergiss nicht, dass sie ihre Meinung vor der Kamera geäußert haben. Alle, so scheint es, haben die beste Meinung von uns Griechen! Aber die Wahrheit ist ganz anders. Hinter der Kamera würden die meisten nicht in so lobenswerten Worten sprechen und das wissen Sie. Es ist kein Geheimnis! Sie sind es, die uns in diese miserable wirtschaftliche Lage gebracht haben. Sicherlich nicht gewöhnliche Menschen, sondern ihre Regierungen. Wenn uns das deutsche Volk wirklich gefallen hätte, hätten sie bei ihren Regierungen gegen ihr erbärmliches Verhalten protestiert. Aber er hat nicht... Es ist wichtig. Wer wirklich liebt, zeigt es durch Taten und nicht durch Worte! Wir sind voller guter und schöner Worte. Die Griechen sind naiv. Wenn sie ihnen auf die Schulter klopfen und zwei nette Worte sagen, denken sie sofort, dass die Leute sie mögen! Aber die meisten Deutschen haben nicht den besten Eindruck von den Griechen. Sie lieben Griechenland, aber die Griechen betrachten sie als Affen!!!
So pauschal ist das einfach Unsinn. Deutschland besteht aus über 80 Millionen Individuen. In die miese wirtschaftliche Lage hat nicht Deutschland Griechenland gebracht sondern der Euro und damit verbunden zweifelhafte Kredite. Hans Müller in Berlin hat damit genauso viel zu tun wie Iannis oder Francois. Die Austeritätspolitik fanden viele Deutsche falsch und das Verhalten der Politiker peinlich und unwürdig. Im Übrigen wird gerne so getan als hätte Deutschland Europa den Euro aufgezwungen. Das Gegenteil ist der Fall: Die Einführung war relativ unpopulär und man hat genau die Spannung zwischen "harten" Nordwährungen und "weichen" Südwährungen voraus gesehen. Da hat man einfach mehrere Kulturen der Geldpolitik zusammengepackt. Im übrigen hat der Süden eher gewonnen.

As i was growing up and watching the news, reading stuff online etc i’ve made a conclusion that our politicians made us hate each other for their own games! I used to hate everything about Germany but i was wrong, you are nice people! Sure there might be some bad German people as there are some bad Greek people too cause some people are just like that... Da konnte und kann er lang suchen. Die damaligen wie heutigen Griechen haben nichts mit den pantheistischen antiken HELLENEN zu tun.
Also, als ich nach Deutschland gekommen bin, habe ich einen Zimmer per Airbnb gebucht, die Vermieterin ist Deutsche und ihr Mann ist Grieche, die waren so tolle Menschen, sehr geduldig, und insbesondere der Grieche hatte mir bei so vielen Sachen geholfen, dass ich schneller und besser in Deutschland zurechtkommen. Nach ein halbem Jahr fragen sie mich noch immer über meinen Zustand und versuchen wie möglich zu helfen.
Bin ich immer dankbar als ein chinesischer Student.
I am from Greece and I regret not having learned German along with English as second language. I love its sound and there is so much German literature i 'd be interested to read in the original text. Alas, I have grown rather too old to begin now.
You are never too old to learn a new language. It takes more time, that is all.
We may don't have much in common on our societies and in our culture but we have big respect on what Germany offered and still does in science and technology. @@karal902 We don't have the worst internet as a country and we do invest into the tech. For example we are in the plans for the own ffth connection that will be done in summer. We don't have to pay for the installment of the glass fibre as it is covered by county and state.
We also have deep respect on what Germany has offered to the global history with the two world wars in which she was responsible of.Also,we are deeply proud of the country that is known as the country that doesn't pay its debts and always points the finger to the others because they think they are in some higher position than everybody else.

It's curious that noone said anything about how advanced are German studies on Greece's history and culture. Werner Jaeger's "Paideia" is still one of the most significant and valuable book about the ancient Greece.
Knowing anything deeper about Ancient Greece marks a specific class: intellectuals
During my school days greek history was always on the schedule for a while. We watch the oldschool odysseus movies and I loved them.
Once I wanted to buy a car from Germany and I spoke to a lot of Germans. 90% of them actually got me everything I needed in a matter of seconds. They were always prepared and they were really helpful. I just admire their discipline. Τhey exude respect. Half of my kin, has been to Germany. I hope I get the chance to visit. Love from Greece

What I like more about the Germans is their will for work and the fact that they are so well organized. I wish we were more like you in some sectors 😅. My respect from Greece
As a greek i believe that Germans are genuinely kind and warm people. Gentle, friendly and have their houses open for their friends. The weather and their recent history makes them a bit reserved. Their system also has deactivated some initiative and spark of their lifes.

I used to study German back in Greece and the Czech Republic, and I was in love with the language. Unfortunately, after years spent in the US, I have forgotten most of it, but it still makes me really happy to listen to people speak the language. Im from Rhodes and i have met thousands of Germans in my life when they come here for holidays.
You can find some arrogant Germans without reason who have the demand to speak their language (German) and refuses to communicate in English even if they know the language but not in rude way and you can find some Germans that are the most open minded guys you ever met.

ich persönlich bin selbst Halbgrieche und mich fasziniert immer wieder, wie viele Begriffe aus dem (Alt-)Griechischen stammen, die von so grundlegender Bedeutung sind.
Wörter wie Psyche, Logik, Musik, Rhythmus, Gymnastik, Athlet, Philosophie, Idee, Ethik, Politik, Demokratie, Diplomatie, Mathematik, Arithmetik, Akademie, Schule usw. sind doch aus dem deutschen Sprachschatz kaum wegzudenken, oder?
By the way German workers are working 35 hours a week and Greek 40 hours.
@@fotis1964 I've never heard of this and personally know a lot of people in Germany who work 40 hours per week. What exactly do you mean in the first place? That Greeks are generally working more than Germans? This would be a pretty superficial statement, don't you think so?

A lot of Greeks (like my grandparents) had worked in Germany and they are so thankful because Germans were great employers. Also, thank you for your kind words, Germans are very polite tourists 🇩🇪❤️🇬🇷

I really wish we, both, Greeks and Germans, will one day overcome the stereotypes. Greeks are not so lazy and Germans are not so cold. Truth is that even today many Greeks still remember what Germany did at WW2, but I think that the average Greek and German person has moved on, so I think that it's better to see each other as a European brother. We are both civilized nations, part of our EU family. And we really can understand each other better....

@ Pere Jensen Lieber Freund sie sind ein idiot! Es gibt keine "Demokratie" in Griechenland!!! Die Griechen leben unter einem Regime des Terrorismus und der Diktatur der Mitsotakis-Regierung. Zwei Jahre in Folge hat die Mitsotakis-Regierung die Griechen mit den „Maßnahmen“ der sogenannten „Pandemie“ gefoltert! Seine Regierung verhält sich wie die Gestapo! Mitsotakis ist ein lakai des deutschen politischen Führung, so wie es sein Vater vor ihm war, und gibt den Türken teile des Territoriums Griechenlands und die Hälfte der Ägäis! Natürlich mit dem "Segen" des US-Präsidenten und der deutschen Regierung!

Germany was the first country to visit on a school excursion back in 2009, at the peak of the economic crisis here in Greece. Truth is we were kind of prejudiced at first that German ppl would hate on us but instead we came across a Greece-friendly country with vast ‘Griechenland’ banners in Berlin promoting vacations in Greece, hotel stuff was saluting us in Greek every morning and very friendly people in general… So as I greek I definitely consider German people to be very kind, friendly and educated towards the Greeks even on hard times.

Ich komme aus Griechenland, lebe momentan in Thessaloniki, habe aber in der Vergangenheit für mehrere Jahre in De gelebt (Berlin,Thüringen,NRW). Ich erlebe täglich meine Landsleuten hier bin aber gar nicht der Meinung dass wir Griechen im Durchschnitt emotionaler, oder warmherziger sind....das ist nur ein oberflächlicher Eindruck den viele Deutsche bekommen....ja wir reden manchmal lauter, lachen vielleicht mehr....macht uns das aber mehr emotional oder empathisch? Ich habe in De die beste Gespräche meines Lebens mit Deutschen geführt, und Menschen erlebt die tief im Kern sehr empathisch gewirkt haben....und es war kein oberflächlicher Eindruck

Wenn man nicht weisst wer einer der Grossvater ist. Oder, nur als mathematische Witze,
wenn man einer der Grosseltern, wer Greiche ist, und ein andere, wer ein drittel Griech ist, hat. Es geht um eine "unendliche reihe"

Some years ago, a Sunday morning, I heard my uncle call my name. I went down the stairs and reached the entrance of our property.
There I could see my grandfather trying to speak to a German couple in Greek language while my uncle was trying to understand what was the problem with their broken bike that couldn't start. He had called me in order to help with translation.
I remember noticing the expressions of the couple's faces. They were overwhelmed by my grandfather's theatrical movements, while wondering if my uncle had any idea regarding the bike's repair. They tried to ask me if there was any chance that they could find a place nearby to fix their bike.
Suddenly, my uncle said "That's it!" (in Greek of course) and everyone looked at him holding a circuit breaker between his fingers. Immediately, he ran into his house before the couple could realise what happened.
They had just asked me politely where did my uncle go with their bike's circuit breaker, when my uncle came back again with a big smile saying "fortunately I have a new one!".
In the next 10sec, my uncle replaced the circuit breaker and started the bike, my grandfather was trying to ask the couple if they needed water to bring them, I was trying to translate everything, and the couple was stunned looking at their bike working again!!
They hesitantly asked if they had to pay anything and got mine, my uncle's and grandfather's laughter as a response. Of course not!! They left thanking us and we were all very pleased that we helped them.
I still laugh whenever I remember this happening.

The Older Lady was the one who knew the most and gave a good description.....but German people have a Very Superficial understanding/knowledge of Greece/Greeks - there is SO MUCH MORE To Greece than what the people interviewed knew/said...Greece is not just about Food and beaches.....Modern Greeks - although they have a very hard act to follow with the Ancient Greeks - are still a VERY TALENTED Nation, very intelligent people with warm hearts who have initiatives and inspirations. Unfortunately, for various reasons, both internal corruption in the past and external forces now, have drowned the country in debts and no matter what they do, they cannot arise about the debts. But they are certainly more than just food and beaches......

I'm Greek and I've visited Germany many times.Germans were polite and had a good attitude, also they had a sense of humor.
Generally I have a good opinion about Germans because they aren't how some people describe them to be (cold and like robots)
We should focus on solving our possible differences because we are both in EU and we have a common fate.
Germany as a major EU country should lead and give an example rather than having -sometimes- a "punishing" view for other countries.
Dear Germans come to Greece in summer for your vacations to enjoy the sea and have a good time !
Greece in summer is too hot. Moreover the sun is going down earlier than here in the northern regions.

Ich habe seit an paar Jahren Deutsch gelernt aber ich finde es immer noch schwer, diese Videos zu verstehen, ohne die Untertitel zu lesen. Was könnt ihr empfehlen, um mir zu helfen? Soll ich einfach weiter diese Videos gucken? Diese Videos gefällt mir sehr :)
Ich bin keine Muttersprachlerin, sondern ich lerne auch Deutsch. Ich weiß nicht ob Sie das gleiche Problem mit mir haben, aber ich finde, dass wenn es Untertiteln gibt, sehe ich die immer. Was ich mache ist, dass ich die Untertiteln bedecke, damit sie nicht ins Auge fallen. Also, wenn man weiß, dass keine Untertiteln zur Verfügung stehen, konzetriert sich man mehr auf die sprechenden Personen um versuchen zu verstehen was sie sagen.
@@dimitralenanakou9321 danke für deine Beantwortung! Was sie erzählt haben ist sehr nützlich und ich werde das jedes Mal ausprobieren. Mein Deutsch ist gut wenn ich schreibe oder lese aber Deutsch hören finde ich schwer. Ich werde diese Methode verwenden, um mein Deutsch zu verbessern. Danke schön!
Du könntest auch den Podcast von Easy German anhören! Cari und Manuel sprechen immer so deutlich und langsam, über verschiedene Themen die mit dem Alltag zu tun haben, und die haben dabei Janusch und andere Gäste. Plus, ihre gute Laune ist ansteckend! 👍
