Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun (Doppleganger 1969) | Ian Hendry - Film Movie Theatre Trailer
Doppelgänger is a 1969 British science-fiction film directed by Robert Parrish and starring Roy Thinnes, Ian Hendry, Lynn Loring and Patrick Wymark. Outside Europe, it is known as Journey to the Far Side of the Sun, which is now the more popular title.[1][2] In the film, a joint European-NASA mission to investigate a planet in a position parallel to Earth behind the Sun ends in disaster with the death of one of the astronauts (Hendry). His colleague (Thinnes) discovers that the planet is a mirror image of Earth.
I saw this movie on the Big Movie Screen in 1969 when I was 8 years old. A month later, I watched Man land on the moon for the first time in a hotel room in Manchester, UK!
The ending of this movie will leave you with so many questions.
This was science fiction at its raw. I would love to see this on the big screen again.
I actually remember seeing this movie at the theater as an 8 year old. I finally now know what it was called. I remember everything backwards. Yes, this was a Thunderbirds like British Production. Thunderbirds, UFO and Space 1999 Genre of animation. No puppets. No Milady! No Thunderbirds.
Even the melodic space music at the end of the trailer was used in the UFO tv series
This film is available on crystal-clear commercial DVD.
So much energy in this trailer, plus the brilliant Roy Thinnes, Ian Hendry and Herbert Lom. Not quite sure if this was to be a pilot or a stand alone feature film, but regardless, I'm sold. Amazon, here I come.

Bit of a mix up in the trailer - Roy Thinnes was looking in the mirror - surely, from his perception, the cologne bottle, as reflected in the mirror, should appear the right way round?
Hmm that's the whole point of the film as he's not on Earth

So Hartmann was just a live action Lady Penelope from the outfit. I saw this one as a 5 year old. I was just looking at the spaceships.
I read this as, 'how can we find the complete film in Spanish?' If anyone can help then please comment.......we've seen the DVD for sale in the Region 4 (R4) format, so this may have Spanish subtitles.......but needs checking

Silly movie but it has a beautiful piece of music in.
Is it me, or does the space ships in this movie look like those in the British TV scifi puppet show "The Thunderbirds". Coincidence? I don't think so...

Hi Chris - It can be ordered through Amazon (and I've also seen copies on eBay too).....film was also released as ' Doppleganger', but the Dvd was released by Universal Pictures as Journey To The Far Side Of The Sun...
