    You're now my go-to channel for advice and inspiration. Love from a fellow MH sufferer who's just starting out on the hiking/backpacking/personal journey. 💚💜

    As you're plant based you might find overherd oat milk powder useful for your trips as you can pack a small amount of powder instead of taking an amount of milk (I'm dairy intolerant & a coeliac and it is the only dairy free dried milk substitute I have found that works for me so far - I got it mostly for going on hols and festivals but thinking watching this how useful it will be on hikes as I am just getting started) 🙂

    Buff! Fantastic video Abbie. Im slowly building up my supplies for my multi day hikes after lockdown. Todays purchase is a hat! Measured my head for a Tilleys hat as its what my Grandad wore for decades.

    You are able to stay in a squatting position for an amazingly long time! I'm glad Bobby stays close by; I would worry about owls or other critters. He is very cute.

    If you’re using any kind of metal mug - and you don’t have asbestos lips - it’s a good idea to have some form of insulation on the edge of your mug.
    Back in the day we used black tape but it soon gets gungy. I’ve just moulded some Sugru round my mug which is much cleaner.
    If the handles aren’t insulated good idea to do those too.

    I've been using Trangia and, though it's big, it's so well contained. I still have meths.
    Gas wise I've had a go with the Spider Stove for more stability close to ground. It works well.

    • @m0rjc
      @m0rjc ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the Trangia's coming out this weekend - for two of us completely self contained.
      I bought it when I was in what was then called Venture Scouts back in the 80s. It's a little dented now (especially after some of today's Scouts borrowed it), but they do last. It has had a replacement burner because the lid of the old one cracked.

    I try to use some big zip lock sandwich bags for things like clothes and tea bags as lots of dry bags adds weight (clips etc)

    Rain skirts are also pretty useful bits of kit to help with layering. Not great if it really starts to pour down but if it a light rain they're great as the bottom of your trousers don't soak up water like the thighs do. Rain skirts also take up about 1/4 of the space that rain trousers do so are great of you're travelling really light and finally they're really easy to get on and off

    I love an organised bag, very satisfying 🌼 I like the trousers they remind me of Coyote Peterson's which can only be an excellent thing. Just need to actually start proper walks to justify them 🙈😀 ps fab nature close ups at the start 🌼

    Great advices ! Why do some hikers use two trekking poles instead of one like you ?

    • @barrybookmaker7433
      @barrybookmaker7433 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Two poles are more effective but using only one is more comfortable .

    • @vamboroolz1612
      @vamboroolz1612 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are trekking on the flat you don’t really need two,( though they are handy for leaping over wider streams). If you are on mountains and of a certain age,( I am 55), they are a godsend, especially going downhill. You can be descending for a good couple of hours coming off a Munro so it really helps with knee and hip pain. Without two poles I simply could not continue climbing Munro’s at all.
