Dok Koon was employed in the logging industry, and tragically, during this time, a log slipped from the chains and rolled onto her leg, breaking her ankle. Despite her injury, she was then moved into the elephant riding industry to service tourists.
Upon receiving information about her dire condition, our founder Lek Chailert and the team immediately mobilized to release her from her suffering.
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, our team rescued Dok Koon from Surin province in Eastern Thailand. After an arduous journey of 27 hours, Dok Koon finally arrived at her new home in Elephant Nature Park. The soaring temperatures reached 40°C during the journey, and our veterinarian and rescue team provided plenty of food and water to keep Dok Koon hydrated. Thanks to our custom-built truck, Dok Koon was able to enjoy the cooling water from the onboard sprinkler system.
Upon arrival at ENP, Dok Koon was greeted by a welcoming committee of our resident rescued herd, who let out loud trumpets and welcoming rumbles to their newly rescued friend.
Dok Koon quickly settled into her new sanctuary life, free from harm, enjoying a refreshing swim followed by a mud bath. Her new life begins now!
Nothing beats seeing the herd running to greet a newcomer.
Agree!
I know! I started tearing up. It's like they are saying..."Welcome! You're going to love it here!"
Seeing humans make the effort to care for this Elephant and bring her to a family of Elephants is what nothing beats.
I agree, how sweet the other elephants were! Teared me up a bit.
Very true!!
Seeing animals that have been mistreated finally being given the respect they deserve is overwhelming.
Yes!
Thank you for saving them and loving them. They all deserve respect, friendship and freedom.
Sadly, some of the elephants used in the logging industry are drugged so they will work longer hours. As humans, we domesticated certain species for our own benefit. These animals did not ask to be domesticated. We owe them the best treatment and respect. Not exploitation, neglect and abuse. God bless those who rescue and care for them. Keep up the good work.
Grandma elephant has had a hard life. Here's to hoping her final years are spent in comfort, surrounded by new friends who love her.
*_At last she is home and free, thanks to your wonderful dedication and love ..._*
On my own.

*_What are you on about ..._*
You have to appreciate a person who says, 'I can no longer care for this animal' and gives it up to those who can. That takes a lot. 🙏
especially when they rockin so much bling
@@faxingitin she couldnt make him money anymore
@@ambientsounds5832that is the truly sad part she was worked until she couldn't work anymore. At least she can finally rest.
It's about lack of profit w situations like this but thankful they don't unalive wild animals, they can then live carefree w their own. It's domesticated animals who lose their owners after being w them their whole lives that's really heartbreaking. The domesticated animal has been abandoned. Their owner's reasons don't matter to the animal. It's esp sad when they're seniors
Yes, and he was so kind to rescue her when it was a financial burden to do so.
its like the welcome committee is saying "welcome to the happy place!"
Your comment reminded me of the TH-cam channel Takis Shelter, in Greece. He rescues animals, mostly dogs, but he also rescues cats, goats, birds, etc. It's amazing to see the positive transformations the animals he saves make once they enter his shelter, and receive love, care, food, shelter, safety, and security with Takis, his volunteers, and all the other animal friends they make while there. The sad part is, though, is that he has SO MANY dogs, and not enough adopters. I think this channel and Takis Shelter are my two favorite channels on TH-cam, for the wonderful and selfless work they all do to rescue, protect, and care for all these magnificent animals. ❤
@@SophieMia806 So true!!
Love your comment❤️

I’m sitting here a world away and I’m in tears ,hearing the other elephants trumpet and run to her is so so beautiful. Thank you to everyone looking after her on such a long trip ,she’s home and free and can now rest and play . God bless xox
I wonder what they’re saying. Clearly communicating.
Amen !
Absolutely 💯, such beautiful amazing animals 😊
Me too💙
If you're crying you need medical help
I love how they stopped along the journey to get her fresh food.
Every road trip needs snacks! 😊
Precious Dok Koon, there’s no better welcoming committee than the one provided by other sweet ellies. 💖🐘
I just love the welcoming committee 😀❤🐘
Makes my heart so happy to see Chana and her family come to greet Auntie Dokkoon. Such a beautiful sight to see!
Thank you to everyone for saving Dok Koon and taking good care of her for the rest of her life.🙏🙏
I'm so happy she has finally come home where she is safe and taken care of. Thank you Lek and to all the rescuers.
Finally doing what elephants are supposed to do. And that welcome... priceless
How beautiful, all the caretakers, thank you.
When she was in the river I swear she was smiling just like this ☺️
I'm so grateful this rescue foundation can help. It breaks my heart when any animal has to suffer. Thank you to all the volunteers
If only all humans were as caring and loving as Lek Chailert, what a wonderful world it would be.
It’s amazing to see all the other elephants running over to see the new one
She looks bewildered. A few days to adjust to her new safe environment then we’ll see her shine.
I feel so compelled to watch these beautiful rescues. Welcome HOME Dok Koon!
It's like they've been waiting for her her whole life 💕💞💕💞
Thank you all. Many blessings to each and every one who helped on this journey.
These people rescuing the elephants-such arduous work I admire and respect them. So wonderful to witness.

Elephants are the best 💕🐘💕
Those people who tortured this elephant are the worst.
@@PSNization 💯 agree
Bless the owner for knowing he could no longer take care of her and turn her over to someone who could. She’s beautiful and deserves this retirement! Thank you for the rescue! ♥️🐘♥️

So glad this animal is free and hope you have the best life ever.
It's heartwarming to see the herd greeting a newcomer. They are always so excited to make new friends 🧡
What a beautiful, stunning being. Brought a tear of joy to my eyes seeing the happy ending. Priceless 🤗🤗🤗
Just look at all the other elephants coming to greet her. That is absolutely amazing and so very sweet.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I've never cried so many tears at a TH-cam video. I'm glad I'm alone! 😢❤
And another beautiful being finds safe haven and love at ENP, with a chorus of joyous new friends to welcome here home. Thank you thank you thank you - I weep with every being who experiences your help and love.
I would give you a thousand Likes if I could - such a wonderful story - you do such amazing work. Thankyou!
I always love the: ''she was EMPLOYED''........... what a vile laugh and lie. No, this wild, sentient being was taken from her family, natural environment and Peace to be t*rtured, ab*sed, and to suffer indignities beyond description.
That's only some of the truths about ensl*vement and captivity.
Thank you for saving yet another beautiful soul and giving her Peace.
How man uses these majestic creatures until they have nothing of worth left to give. A life of servitude, pain and suffering. Hearing the herd greet her was so moving, the chirps and trumpets...crying in joy for her. ❤
Simply beautiful. Thank you for the important work you do🤗🤗🤗
tears of happiness for her 😢😢😢
My friend you're not alone. Tears of joy came down my face. At 63yrs old I feel like a happy go lucky child.
Mummy Lek is here sweet elephant. Your now safe ❤
That was a beautiful moment captured on video, the enthusiasm of the the ellies coming to greet their new friend was heartfelt!
How nice that this man rescued her, but also admits that he struggles taking care of her. If more people were this honest a lot of animal suffering could be prevented. Many people are not able to take care of an animal, financially or otherwise, but are too proud to admit it.
The kindness and intelligence one sees in Dok Koon's eyes, brings tears to mine. Thank you for answering the calls for help that these elephant's owners are making. One can only hope elephant ownership will soon be a thing of the past.
This touched me deeply, to my soul. Thank you for your love and compassion for these beautiful beings. ❤❤❤❤
It looks like someone made some new friends today 🤗 I hope she is feeling better soon. Thank you all for all of your kindness and help! ❤❤❤
Sweetness. 💚
What a beautiful sight, peace at last for this beautiful elephant 🐘 😍
I love elephants much thanks to all involved to set her free
The joy at watching this beautiful elephant get to do those natural behaviors, and soak in that water has my heart singing! Finally .... Finally, free to just be an elephant! God bless you all, and bless the herd! They welcomed her with open trunks! 😊😊
Knowing a rescued elephant's back story prior to the rescue is truly painful and heartbreaking, but knowing that they are now at the beginning of a new and far happier life is so relieving. So happy that she is truly home now, with a family who awaits her coming and kind-hearted humans who never want to hurt her. God Bless You, Dok Koon. Thank you, Lek and ENP! May God Bless all your endeavors and mission.❤🐘❤
Beautiful
