    I got one and made it into a spear , the fact that I never thought to make a machete sized handle for it just blows my mind , Thank you very much for sharing that idea with me

    I have the bushman and the bushman bowie and I must say they are probably the two most versatile blades Cold Steel makes. Strong one-piece construction and easy to keep sharp. The hollow handle is nice to store fire-making stuff (in a watertight container). I used a cork and a modified rubber chair stopper on mine to seal the space. Works great. They baton well and make good little ad hoc machetes. Not as good as the big ones, but these knifes are small enough to be carried anywhere. Great survival tool.

      Non so per quale scopo questo economicissimo e particolare coltello sia stato concepito. So solo che se mai fossi costretto ad entrare tra gli oscuri meandri di una favelas brasiliana, non vorrei avere altro che quello.

    Because they always seem to discontinue items I need and like.

    Silicon & Steel How did you end up attaching it to the staff? I was hoping you'd go into just a bit more detail on that. I'm considering getting a bushman almost exclusively for its ability to be used as a spear I can attach to the end of a walking stick, so would you mind filling me in?
    Great vid. Thanks for the post!

      Budsygus There's a hole near the bottom of the handle. You'll have to play with screws of various sizes to find which works the best.

    I’ve got 1 Bushman Bowie and plan on getting a second, so I hear ya’ getting multiples! LOL...gotta say, you’d be surprised how well that thin blade batons through wood! I’m telling ya’, it gets the job done, and easily!

    I would not use it as my primary bushcraft knife, mainly because of the handle, even rapped the chances of your hand going up the blade is not something you want if you are days away from home.
    However as a backup, or a beater knife you can abuse, or as a hunting/self defence tool it's pretty good.

    Cold steel is having serious problems with that sk5 steel. You can check on some videos that show blade crackings very easily. This happens on the bushman and also on the SRK knives.

    • @siliconsteel9289
      @siliconsteel9289  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea definitely. It a super snug fit with the cord wrap though, which makes for a difficult draw. Not an issue with the new plastic sheaths so I'd like to pick up a few of those

    Yet another person who didn't realize they weren't using the old style sheath properly. The reason he thought it was too big, is because it needs pushing further in, then it sits in securely. I'm sure he realized eventually.

    for this price does everything and even more. do we claim that it also sings us lullabies when we go to sleep? I can smell the new craze of exotic alloy steels currently very fashionable, costing ten times as much. at that price if you go out for hiking and bush living a few days, ten times, returning home each time you throw it away, just keep the steel for other uses and get a new one each time you leave. also has a sort of patent (taken from the old working tools of the countryside) for use lance, that in certain conditions it may be a useful high plus bonus, if you know how you can also use it to fish salmon in some places. but of course if you go out often to do survival in the amazon jungle or canadian forest or russian taiga for about a week without seeing a trace of civilization, well, there's not even talk about it. This knife is totally excluded. but you do really go there? who goes there, here among us fans of knives? one in a thousand, maybe ...

      sento l'odore di mania dei nuovi esotici acciai legati acciai legati molto alla moda per numeri incredibili, ma la differenza che si sente nella qualità del lavoro sul campo si sente troppo poco per quei prezzi da spavento. la blue stell prodice anche il san ma II che è un siatema di unione di due ottimo acciai uno più eolastico dentro e l'altro più morbido fuori, e il risultato ovvioamnente è migliore di questo, ma... indovina!" cosat quasi dieci volte tanto! se esci dieci volte potresti tenere l'acciao per altri usi e ogni volta averne uno nuovo... beh certo se tu vai spesso a fare trekking nella giungla amazzonica o nelle foreste canadesi o nella taiga russa per una dozzina di giorni ogni volta senza incotrare traccia di civiltà, beh, non c'è nemmeno da parlarne. questo coltello è totalmente da escludere. ma tu ci vai? perchè sai queste cose incomincio a sentirle e vederle ovunque, queste dispute accadono anche nel mondo delle moto, specie custom,dove la gente monta cose che sfrutterà al massimo al 20%, o come tutti questi suv in giro, che in tanti paesi come l'italia sono solo status simbol e non servono a nulla ma cosatno una botta (e per fortuna che siamo in recessione e crisi ecopnomica, se era il contrario che facevano, si compravano un cingolato?). anche me piacciono acciai migliori, nemmeno troppo costosi come 440C e tutti quelli che gli somigliano (praticamente una famiglia coi nomi più disparati anche per vendere un pò di scena, ma sostanzialmente uguali come prestazioni) e sono tanti, la stragrande maggioranza dei coltelli di fascia medio alta è fatta con quelli. ma anche un buon carbonio temprato come si deve e arrangiato in modo ingenioso e multitasking - una cosa importantissima là fuori, spesso ce lo si dimentica con certi supercoltelli, o altri che fanno tutto ma niente bene... questo fa certe cose base - pure ha una sorta di brevetto (preso dai vecchi stromenti da campagna) per l'uso lancia che in condizoni survival è un pro plus bonus molto alto! - e le fa in una maniera discreta e funzionale, per un prezzo davvero basso. meno di 10 cm (dieci!) di certi acciai costano la stessa cifra in una barra non lavorata, uscita dalla fonderia fino al negozio.

      SK5 is not garbage steel. No, it isn't stainless, and it isn't 60 RHC. Tougher, less brittle steel that can be field sharpened and maintained is exactly what this amazing knife warrants.
