    FYI, Varrick is based very loosely on a real life person, Howard Hughes. Hughes was super-rich, an inventor and film magnate. He had a bit of a frenetic personality, and later in life became known for eccentric and crazy behavior.
    Hughes was also one of the inspirations for Tony Stark, btw.

    I will say this. I wouldn’t get mad at Korra for choosing unalaq over tenzin. 1. There was a current spiritual problem she needed to focus on, and take care of and unalaq was the only one who proved to have the means to teach her what she needed. 2 tenzin was going to take her to the air temples. Please tell me how that would’ve helped the issue at hand? 3. She was upset bc tenzin and her father had been lying to her/holding her back, rightfully so if u ask me. 4 unalaq was manipulating her from the start and feeding her mind with things to get her to trust him. 5 she was just trying to do what she needed to do to save the world. So I really wouldn’t get mad at Korra for choosing unalaq which was the best option for her. But anyway, I can’t wait for y’all’s reactions 😁

      Exactly
      People just overlook the facts and then start hating Korra for being stupid
      Like why? Unalaq is her blood uncle. He proved what he knows is really important and she just lost her trust of her father. Who should she trust then? Ofcourse her uncle.
      We are seeing him as a sketchy person. But for Korra she's just looking at him as her uncle that's it.

    I think Korra’s lack of spirituality doesn’t have much to do with society. Although in the series modern society has really distanced itself from spiritual traditions and opted for a more political take on things, Korra’s early years consisted of her isolated away from society. The white lotus had tried to get her into the spiritual side but it just didn’t work with her, mostly because she was more of a physical bending avatar( having known 3 elements at such a young age).

    Just to help, I wanted to clarify that the avatar can die in the avatar state just like in her regular form the only difference is that when she dies in the avatar state the rebirth cycle of the avatar is broken. So there won’t be any more avatars to protect the world, this was stated by Roku in ATLA when Aang was trying to learn to master the avatar state the wrong way with the earth kingdom general Roku came and told Aang he was doing something wrong and explained.

    • @jonathanjohnson6727
      @jonathanjohnson6727 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PxndaCakes i understand that sentiment. S1 ATLA usually gets a pass for being the inital entry into this universe(for some nostalgia plays a factor). As its mostly about building out the world; physically/touch on the lore and showing the dynamics amongst societys devoid of war and those heavily afflicted by it. But it has its lows in the middle; imo 14-17(though they're still enjoyable; give solid context). As for S2 LOK I believe many didn't enjoy certain characters traits displayed and the way the storyline was built(imo had this season been the first season there'd be a more positive take on this. As its pace contrasts heavily with S1 LOK; which many might've considered as the structure for how LOK would operate. And we all know the production issues and one aspect some will never get past.)

    • @vindifference
      @vindifference 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PxndaCakes I wouldn't call either of them bad personally. They're just at the lowest point of their series. Even so, both have a fair bit of stand out moments, and generally I do prefer to watch reactions for Korra season 2 than ATLA season 1. For ATLA season 1, I'm only ever interested in reactions to chapters 2, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20. For LoK season 2, I enjoy chapters 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 12 and 13.

    I think the harm with Korra entering the Avatar state so casually is that if she dies, her rebirth could not call back on the Avatars anymore. The chain will be broken and 10.000 years of wisdom collected by the Avatars before will be lost. No more Aang, Roku, Kioshi etc... it is worse then Korra just dying.

    Personally, I love season 2 of Korra. The whole thing feels like a Miyazaki film, and the way it plays out is so interesting. One thing I've seen already (which is why I love you guys as reactors) is you're seeing things from Korra's point of view. To me, when people hate on season 2 a lot, it's often because they don't understand Korra. But I think it makes sense: her father and Tenzin lied to her for her entire life and she's never had any choice or independence, both of which are very important to her.

Plus, that sequence where Korra goes into the avatar state up to Unalaq calming the spirit is some of the most gorgeous animation I've ever seen. It's very sad this season didn't get the funding and support it deserved, but they did a great job with what they were given. Looking forward to the rest, as well as season 3 and 4!

In the comics, when ever aang and katara were kissing or being nice to each other, sokka would tell them they were giving him the "oogies" (as for "yikes"). So most likely tenzin grew up hearing "oogies" from sokka whenever they saw aang and katara express their love. In the end, tenzin named his sky bison after his parent's love.

    To answer your question as to why they decided to shelter Korra like they did, I think it's just a case of over correction. The last Avatar was hunted down at a young age and as a result the world went 100 years without an avatar. So they felt the need to keep Korra under constant protection and closed off from the world until they felt she was ready.
