Respect 🫡 You’re a good dude Marco. You stand by your morals and integrity, while still being to see the situation from all sides. “Let’s be helpful not hurtful”
i hate to say things like this, but i feel like a lot of the athletes are used to living in a safety bubble. not saying that what happened wasnt insanely tragic, but the 2024 crossfit games showed the true color of a lot of the athletes. some of them werent capable of adapting because, from my point of view, it was probably the first time a lot of the athletes had experienced true tragedy. we all experience tragedy at some point and everyone handles it differently, but you may never truly know someone until you see how they handle real adversity
Unfortunately, this tragic situation has shown people’s true colors and it feels very destructive to the community aspect of CF. The rise of the “elite athlete” over the sport is sad to see. Hopefully, humble athletes like yourself, Rich, Saxon, and others will help restore the Games.
Here is a 10-point summary of Marco Coppola's TH-cam video titled *2024 CrossFit Games Summary - Hiller’s Recap & Noah Conversation*: 1. **Mic Incident with Dave Castro**: During the competition, Dave Castro lowered his mic while addressing a personal question, leading to confusion. Spectators surrounded him, which felt unsafe, prompting aggressive demands for him to speak into the mic. 2. **Group Splitting Controversy**: The decision to split the athletes into smaller groups (teams, males, females, coaches) during discussions was debated. Marco thought it was effective at the time, though it may have worsened the team division situation. 3. **Long-Term Impact of CrossFit Decisions**: Marco discussed the lasting impact of decisions made by CrossFit leadership, comparing the current situation to the aftermath of Greg Glassman's removal and CrossFit's recovery process. 4. **Legitimacy of Competition**: There was a debate, particularly among European athletes, about whether the competition should be classified as an exhibition rather than awarding titles like "Fittest on Earth." Marco believes these titles remain valid despite challenging circumstances. 5. **Impact of Athlete Cuts**: There was disagreement over athlete cuts, with some wanting no cuts to stay in the competition longer. Marco explained how cuts are necessary to avoid compromising the event's legitimacy and logistical planning. 6. **Roman Khrennikov’s Input**: Roman Khrennikov spoke up twice during group discussions, expressing that athletes shouldn’t make decisions on competition structure. He believed CrossFit should handle it, and athletes could choose whether or not to participate. 7. **CrossFit's Role and Responsibility**: Marco criticized the attitude of some who said certain problems were "CrossFit’s problem" when, in reality, these issues affected everyone involved in the competition. 8. **Workout Modifications**: The final team workout had a time cap issue, with a workout designed to last 18 minutes only taking 6-7 minutes for many teams. This was due to logistical adjustments and changes in the expected number of athletes. 9. **Equipment Controversy (Snail Event)**: Teams were upset they couldn’t practice with the snail equipment before the final event. The decision was linked to previous athlete requests for specific equipment, which affected how the event was run. 10. **Private Conversation with Noah Ohlsen**: Marco and Noah Ohlsen had a private conversation to clear misunderstandings. While Marco maintained his stance on earlier opinions, he emphasized the importance of showing grace and avoiding harsh judgment, particularly in online comments.
I can tell you for sure that you did not need to be concerned about Dave Castro's safety. The way the average person reacts to the situation of being surrounded and people moving in even closer is normally fear and panic. Dave feed's on these situations. Dave was dismantling body parts in his mind the entire time if he felt he was under threat. Dave is not a normal man. The majority of the world has no idea what is on the inside of a true warrior. Dave thrives under pressure, fear was the last thing going through his mind as the athletes were closing in. If you think I'm wrong, ask him.
Your story in 1 sentence: People were aggressive and Dave a victim. Amen. And it's not a cultural thing or how people operate! It's people in Europe KNEW Lazar so much better and simply were hit by this situation harder. You are really presenting yourself like a guy with no heart and no empathy here. And this comes from the guy who quotes Jesus.
That's not what he said. He said: (1) Dave spoke softly and people crowded him to hear what he was saying; (2) How people process trauma reflects their cultural background; we in the US may not understand how people in Europe process trauma; he didn't convey that one way is superior to the other; (3) He definitely reflects a sincere heart filled with empathy for all perspectives; (4) I didn't hear any quotes from Jesus in this segment; (5) He summarized that some people's emotions were understandably running high.
Wow 😮 spot on take & response from a Thumbsucking Liberal Anti-American Anti-Christian hater 😎 Yep 👍🏾 that Your Reflection @karolinamackiewicz514 Enjoy
you are presenting yourself like someone who is unable to separate emotion from the ability to critically think. I would argue that his perspective looks a lot more like Jesus than the people acting "righteous" by being fake outraged and asking for a fake "minute" and reveling in all their rage and in their mob mentality. it's easy to do what the group does in order to not be ostracized. its difficult to go against the group because your conscience requires it
@@coach_suhr_moose This is EXACTLY what he said. Please read Luka's post from today to understand how much you can trust in "soft voice" of Dave Castro.
@@KippingItRealcrossfit I see attacking people for "being emotional" is a key topic here. Well, this is human. Acting like a robot and just seeing sport and competition won't probably save us in front of God.

no, mitchell hooper is the one profiting by putting out more and more crossfit videos when the guy donest know squat about the games. literal ambulance chaser. this guy here is a games athlete who was there, who experienced it as well as his team mates and others that they were surrounded by. he didnt have to share anything but he chose to. you didnt have to listen, but you did. what more do you want?
You are clearly an articulate and reasonable guy. Thanks for your take on things

I love your thumbnail for this video! Also, your perspective on things. Sanity and straight-talk -- that's pretty uncommon nowadays.
Great job. Thank you for not trying to cause more controversy! Thank you for not be divisive.
