The only issue I had w the masters stream (which honestly I’ve never truly watched the masters stream unless I knew someone competing)… was that the floor was split half and half? I didn’t mind the two different streams, it was more the split floor and they only showed half at a time. Just made it look like less of a “race”. Was great to watch regardless!
1. Success. Fittest won and both ran overall smoothly. 2. the sport will become better in a few years. Rogue, wodapalooza, ect.. will be able to spread out the competitions. Sport can then mimic tennis with multiple major tournaments for world rankings. The Games season cramps all other comps into a small timeframe. The games essentially has the sport of CrossFit by the balls for one comp. 3. The games do not need Castro. Games were fine when Boz was at the helm. The games are better with Castro though.
to add to point 3, TDC does have a certain aura about him that draws attention. Not sure it's great though to not have the focus of a sport solely on the athletes, after all they're the ones we want to watch.
If the games season didn’t exist anymore, what if the large/pro “off season” comps all associated together and made an actual “tour” 🙃. Those comps seem more receptive to professionalizing. I kind of feel like these two don’t take those comps into consideration. There are athletes out there who make a living doing these other comps (Luka comes to mind). Then an athlete can actually structure their year instead of always having to cater to the CF season which is never given truly given in “advance”.
If it disappears it’ll be the fault of the PFAA and the athletes!! Too many cooks thinking they belong in the kitchen too many “top” athletes thinking their opinion is the most important. The competitive side of CrossFit takes more than just the athletes and they need to be reminded of that.
I'm really trying to hang with this, but it's such garbage. Every person I ask how they started CrossFit ends up saying a CrossFitter got them into it. They'll mention the games, but when pressed, it was another CrossFitter that got them into the gym. They generally saw the games because of another CrossFitter. Bob sitting on his couch chugging down a Miccy Ultra watching the ESPN on a Tuesday night isnt seeing jack squat about the games. He's hearing about Taylor Swift calling plays for some game ball team her boyfriend happens to be on. The only reason he might hear about the games is because somebody drowned and he's going to think "gee, CrossFit sounds dangerous, they're drowning people over there". Of course, Games Athletes are going to tell you that the Games are important to CrossFit. The CrossFit games are as important to CrossFit as big touch screens are to cars.
I think given who is speaking their conclusions are obvious. Of course, they're going to say the games are important and without the games CrossFit would be just another methodology. Ask a car salesman if you need a new car they're going to tell you that you need a new car. How easy is it for some normie football watcher to see the games? Would they even know they're a thing? They hear 'wanna watch The Games' they're thinking "x games" and expect to see kids on skateboards not gym bros doing silly exercises. Even their example of high school and college kids getting in to CrossFit - they're brought in by other CrossFitters not the games. CrossFit doesnt really **need** the games. The Open is good because EVERYBODY participates. Even the semi and quarter finals are pretty good b/c you'll probably have people in your gym do them. The Games? sure, they're the top .1% but honestly - none of them represent anybody in a CrossFit gym except delusional gym bros. Have any of the Games Athletes participate in a backlog grooming session or a PR review, automate the deployment of an app to the cloud. How about rebuild a Ford ECO Boost engine that just crapped itself? Perform a clinical study on a new drug or sew up somebody's torn rotator cuff. How about teach a class full of screaming third graders. The professionalization of the sport just moves the athletes away from the affiliate's actual customers. CrossFit should go back to how it used to be where people were taking PTO from their real jobs to compete at the games. The people at the games actually had to struggle to make it to the gym regularly because work and family demands competed for their time.
Why is asking a games athlete to teach a class of any relevance? The question was asked to them about the games. I knew who I was asking and the task was to make a better statement or point(s) than the other person. Sorry you came here looking for someone to agree with you and left disappointed
@@CoffeePodsAndWods I don't care if anybody agrees with me, but yeah, I was disappointed. It was a circle jerk of agreement. Absolutely no attempt at imagination. No, what if. Just "OMG! The games are so crucial". CrossFit with the games, as they are now, is on its way to becoming Orange Theory. Only difference is The CrossFit Games drowns people occasionally. Great advertising. I'm sure that will bring lots of new customers to the affiliates.
@@CoffeePodsAndWods Sorry I wasn't asking a question. I guess I was a bit taken aback by one of your guests' comments, which was something along the lines of he thought that Dave did a good job of organising the games, I may have miss-understood his point, but I think that is what he meant. That just struck me as a very odd comment given recent events.

ATW mustache edition 🥸 fantastic episode! Jake did have a lot of unique perspectives and Angelio came in READY!!!
Mayhem vs. Everbody ❤

TDC has an amazing eye for creating the race. Not everyone can create the visual excitement as well as him.
Watching the Mayhem hierarchy. Lol. Good stuff

insane take. If they go away it's because the organizers negligently allowed an athlete to die.

You’re not getting any more right but you’re certainly typing a lot
I got into CF 12 years ago and it was solely the Games and the Hero WODs that drew me in and has kept me in
IF???! They're gone, friends. Sponsors aren't coming near this clusterf**k.

Good riddance I would say. It might help changes to happen.
Eh? “could anyone organise the games better”… Wut? I mean, it would take something to do it worse. Good grief.
Usually, if I’m asked a question, I offer an answer to that question, not an answer to a different question.

Yes, other comps manage a successful event
