    That’s badass, I love compound ground Tantos. I’d honestly like to have S35VN over most M390. They treat it so soft most times that it’s not getting any extra benefit.

    Seems like the Gerber Paul knife is the likely predecessor to the new designs of this type 🎉 imho.

    • @aurora_knife_and_tool
      @aurora_knife_and_tool ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe so - The internals are quite different from the Gerber Paul, but since I didn’t create the lock itself I’m not sure what the inspiration was. I’ve also heard comparisons to the Deadlock, but as far as I can tell the similarities are mostly that the mechanism is in the pivot. B’Yond EDC is also dropping a button lock with the mechanism in the pivot, so it seems like something several folks have been working on. Thanks for the comment! 🤘🏻🤓

    I love the blade shape. the knife profile overall is great. I could do without the flipper tab, really. If the lock works then it’s a step in the right direction for knife innovation. Looking forwards to seeing more of it!

    • @aurora_knife_and_tool
      @aurora_knife_and_tool ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks! I imagine there will be some folks who do flipper deletes on Truffles. I typically don’t go for flipper tabs, but for me the flipper adds to Truffles’ stance when open. No accounting for taste I suppose! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Cool knife , and like the new locking mechanisms. Considering it's a Kickstart and people gotta put up there money for this knife to be made the price shouldn't be above 175, and 200 for direct sale. To me that's a fair ask for a knife nobody but reviewers have handled.

    Wonder about disassembly whether the push lock mechanism would present any problems of reassembly or not. Overall like the design, blade steel, and fit finish. Neeves knives has video showing how it looks and operates, that looks like may be in depth if you take pivot out and button off.

      @@kylekarcherMost def. Knife folks are my favorite folks! 🤣 I will also say that most designs are use-case specific, and this one is definitely designed to be a light EDC user and a fidget freak’s (like myself) dream. So this is definitely not the knife I’d go to for hard use, not necessarily because of the lock but because of the blade geometry. Basically anything I wouldn’t do with a liner lock I wouldn’t do with this knife. Just my thoughts on it! 🤘🏻🤓

    • @aurora_knife_and_tool
      @aurora_knife_and_tool ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’ve heard some comparisons to the Gerber Paul and Deadlock mechanisms. Definitely some similarities on the outside, but the internals of each mechanism are pretty different. For instance, to me the Deadbolt is a stronger locking mechanism since the Roundhouse Lock is essentially a liner lock with a button release. I’m not as aware of the Gerber Paul lock, but it is really cool to me that so many folks found unique ways of solving the same problems. B’Yond EDC also released a pivot button lock this year as well. What a great time to be a knife nerd! 🤘🏻🤓

    • @apaulosmith5653
      @apaulosmith5653 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aurora_knife_and_tool the Paul is worth a look, the button is attached to the blade so the handle pivots

    • @aurora_knife_and_tool
      @aurora_knife_and_tool ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@apaulosmith5653Yeah it looks cool and I’ve heard nothing but good stuff about the Paul knife. I think what’s cool about this one though is it’s essentially open source because I don’t have exclusive access to it. My assumption is that the Paul knife design is exclusive to him (which is totally fine - if I had designed the Roundhouse Lock I’d probably keep it to myself too) but that does limit the number of people who can use it. So it’ll be cool to see how other companies use this lock in the future. 🤘🏻🤓

    • @aurora_knife_and_tool
      @aurora_knife_and_tool ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the comment - if you’re referring to the open clip hole on the front as the eye sore then rest assured the production model will have a clip filler. If the whole knife is the eye sore, that’s a valid take and there’s not much I can do about that! 🤘🏻😜 Thanks for taking the time to share! 🤘🏻🤓
