Thank you so much for your video and positive first reaction. This means a lot to us. This knife wouldn't be here without your videos that created our passion for knives. We hope it will serve you well!
I can see Mickey B wiping Martins tears watching oryginal master bushcrafter acknowledging their hard work. Good Job guys. You made a milestone achievement
Definitely not Worth the money. 430 euros!? For Simple knife! I know this guys are well known and social media do a lot but Hey you can get simmilar blades for 250 euros in cpm 3v which is better choice for bushcraft. Malanika knives are cheaper. Shame!
@@jimlahey5623Well, that is a hefty price tag on the DBK bushcrafter. Too much money for many knife people, but regarding the price trc demands for its own models I think the price is comparable. Personally I would not by knifes in this price class, since there are other brands and makers that have the same quality, like the one you mentioned.
It is so good to see you back making refreshing videos. I followed all your Silky saw reviews and bushcrafting material. Although your knife and crafting expertise is wonderful, your greatest gift is that you make massive efforts to master the English language, and for that alone, we should be extremely grateful and humble. Thank you so much.
Could not wait to watch this knife review. As others have already stated, it has come full circle for the DBK boys, and you pay them great honor with your thorough and honest review that was of the highest marks. Looking forward to the upcoming field review of this knife. Thank you, Doctor, for all the knowledge and content that you have given us through the years.
I am so happy this happened, happy for our DBK boys but also happy for virtuovice, he is an idol for many of us... I wish all of you all the best in the future :)
As always, a no nonsense fact based assessment. I appreciate the straightforwardness so much. No hype, no drama, just the facts. The Master has done it again!
I think the slow continual curve from tip to handle on the DBK is actually excellent for bushcrafting. Feathers like a dream! Not so much a slashing/fighting knife. Nice job Doc!
When I decided to look into the issue of saws, TH-cam suggested your channel to me. I have watched some videos of you using Silky saws. As a result, I now have three Silky saws: Bigboy, Gomtaro and Katanaboy 650. I am very pleased with these tools, as now chopping firewood while hiking has become a real pleasure. Your videos about knives are also very interesting. It's a little strange to me that you, while in Japan, use knives from European manufacturers. It seems to me that the craftsmanship of knife making in Japan is at the highest level. It's always interesting and informative to watch your videos, thank you.
@@Dhari1 If weight and size do not matter, then most likely Katanaboy 650. But this is precisely in order to cut large logs. For small woodwork, up to about 10 cm in diameter, I would prefer a Gomtaro saw. It has a straight blade and is very convenient for such work. Bigboy is a versatile, compromise option when light weight and sufficient performance are needed. I use either Katanaboy + Gomtaro or Bigboy + Gomtaro depending on the situation. For me weight and size matter. If I go to the forest for a short time, then there is no point in carrying Katanaboy with me. Naturally, the performance of this saw is the largest of those listed. I will separately note saws with a curved blade. In my opinion, they are needed for arborists and those who care for fruit trees. For hiking in the woods and chopping firewood or for bushcrafting, a straight blade saw is better.
@@hikewomeatI use the curved Gomboy for simple overnight camp trips. I prefer to take fallen wood instead of cutting down trees. I noticed the curved blade helps remove more wood easily from different angles without moving much (usually wood on the ground has veg clutching it) that helps me only need one stomp to break smaller sections easily.
@@timasuna1756 I do not often cut the trees. Only in the case when such a tree is a danger and can fall onto the tent. I never cut living trees at all. It all depends on the type of forest. Where I most often go, the forest consists of large coniferous trees. I try to use thick logs for the fire. I use thin branches to burn them in a wood stove. Perhaps in certain cases a saw with a curved blade is more convenient. It depends on specific circumstances. Moreover, I use a machete to cut thin branches. If the thickness does not exceed 5-7 cm, then using a machete, you can cut branches much faster than a saw.
The fact is under the handle there is so Little steel and so much skeletonized that i wouldnt trust this knife. Joe x did destruction test and it broke in handle.. Nope, i will pass this one
Skeletonization is complete fail. Mike Stewart of BRKT actually said on Skeletonized tangs “it actually makes it stronger” to which Cliff Stamp (an actual Physicist and knife and sharpening master in the truest sense of the word) said “well, by that reasoning the strongest configuration would be no handle at all!” 😂 BRKT have some very nice designs and I own a few of them but I’ll never buy them again on principle.
I believe the alignment of the point of the knife to the centerline is for making holes in bushcraft. Makes it easy to spin the knife after pushing the tip in to carve out the material.
This V.V. Video reminds me of days and years past...... when it was almost every week we heard from Virtuovice. Life must go on, but as long as I'm here, I won't forget... 😉
Hello Dr. Wako! I am a big fan of your videos and the knowledge you share with this community. I also have been wondering if you have any knife for sale? :)
People are asking ridiculous money for knives these days. They have become objects of desire/snob value items from functional tools. Those who disagree can spare me the comments about skill and efforts that go into making them. There are still some who do not charge an arm and leg yet offer quality knives.
@@mdirtydogg DBK (just like most bigger youtubers) are taking advantage of their fame by making profit. I'm sure they are already receiving a nice check every month for having ads on their channel. It's their channel so they can run it anyway they want but I question their integrity and anyone else's who can't say no to making profit off their hobby.
I've been interested in the DBK knife ever since they started talking about it a couple years back. On a separate topic, I think it would be good if DBK left Martin's backyard and came to Japan where you all could meet up and do a video or two together. @DutchBushcraftKnives if you come to Tokyo I'd be happy to show you around.
You sir were right about the Jabs ...Nobody in my household took the poke. Now im watching all the numbers rising not falling .... The worild is not healthier , life incurance has claims skyrocketing. Knives havent been on my list lately....BUT i an happy to see you got their DBK blade. ❤ Stay happy my friend.
I got my DBK knife with the plastic sheath. This turned out to scratch up my beautiful knife while I was carrying it fishing on a sandy beach. I need the leather sheath and a good idea on how to remove scratches from the blade.😢😢
I still cant sharpen a convex so Im not a fan of it. Its a nice knice though ! No finger choice or thumb ramp no waste of blade. the first knife looks great !
A blade with a continuous curve, or near continuous curve, (belly line) is far more useful in bushcraft usage than a straight line. Check out Mors Kochanski’s book and the Skookum Bushtool for info on it. It’s absolutely superior in wood carving.
Thank you so much for your video and positive first reaction. This means a lot to us.

Hey there, quick question if you don't mind: If size and weight is not a problem what Silky would you choose?
@@Dhari1 If weight and size do not matter, then most likely Katanaboy 650. But this is precisely in order to cut large logs. Not relevant to the post 🤷 I just love the curved Gomboy for it's ease of procuring downed wood clutched by ivy

Very good looking knife. Thank you for showing us.
Thank you grandmaster for the review! Mickey and Martin can be proud for sure.
Good to see you making knife videos again. Long overdue.
Definitely no surprise at all. They wanted it in your hands from the moment they made the deal to have them made.

Love those dbk guys they are crazy dudes!!! Would love to see a knife from you DR. Vice!!! Love your channel my friend!!!

Great to see you back again !
That DBK looks great! And with my Garberg, I used epoxy on the handle, sanded it down and painted it so it is more comfortable.
Finally somebody that knows how to give a knife review
I missed your videos! Thank you for the video. Really appreciated!
No way, this must be surreal for the boys.
This feels absolutely insane!!
