  • Video showing the install of 1,280 watts of flexible CIGS solar panels on my Prevost H3-45 RV Coach Class A. This is video 1 of 2. I also discuss my plans to go to Texas and do a similar battery install on another H3-45.
    Visit my website campprevost.com to see a live dashboard of my victron system.
    In the second video, I will show more details of the wire, routing, equipment used and average solar harvesting vs the constant load on the bus.

    I'll be honest, this video didn't turn out the way I envisioned it, I will do a part 2 before we leave for Texas. Stay tuned for more videos and thanks for watching!

    In part 1 at 4:35, it looks like a shunt between the positive and negative bar of your lynx box. Normally, a shunt is only between the negative post and the rest of the grounds. I would think, the shunt would burn up after batteries are engaged......********

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have good eyes. After all this time you are the only person to catch what I did. I really just turned that lynx into a double bus bar. I cut 1/2 copper bar and mounted the shunt between the two ends as you mention. What that allowed me to do was provide a place to land my (2) 2/0 negative cables from the battery. It then runs through the shunt to the upper lynx bus bar - and allows me a place to land the other (2) 2/0 negative cables that each go to one of the inverters on the negative side. It then allowed me more bus bar points to land the other negative cables and still be on the correct side of the shunt. I was looking for a large bus bar and found that - for $150 it was the nicest, largest bus bar out there.

    Great video, can you walk on the panels? I was watching a video on a Newmar King Aire , and they had mentioned that they could walk on their panels .
    Happy trails.

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  ปีที่แล้ว

      These CIGS panels you can walk on. The surface is like a hard plastic of some sort, so it can scratch though. Most panels are the semi flexible monocrystalene, which can still be walked on. I had to import these, for some reason they aren’t sold in the US (I think because of the cost) but found bougerv has two variants - a 100 and 200 watt panel. So far besides the cost they are very efficient, light weight, and exceed their output rating.

    I find it interesting that you used flexible panels.

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wanted to use the large solid panels but they were to big and with 4 roof tops, 3 air vents, antenna and bathroom vent, just not enough room. These adhered to the roof and worked well

      I hooked my computer up to the WS500 and think I didn’t hit save the last time I was in there and it used its lefepo4 defaults. I have the Victron alarm at a standard chargers max - which is around what it was telling me. So I hit save and it seems fine now - will see on the next trip - it never fully charged the batteries while driving. Everything runs them up so high, if you watch the curve while charging - the amps drop to almost zero at 27.65 so I stop there. Even the spec says 28.8v- but that’s like cramming every last electron in there possible. So I think it was fine - just more than I want.

    Great info as usual. Aaron do you have a central vac & did you keep it or ditch it?

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  ปีที่แล้ว

      This coach didn’t have one. Would be nice to have - but don’t think it would be possible to run the hose now. Do you have one? I put one in my super c that I had before this coach. It was nice but the retractable hose thing I got wasn’t long to reach both sides of the rig - just a large portion of the center.

  • @coolchef09

    kinda looks like you are missing your black tank vent stack cap on the roof. if so does it fill your black tank with rain water?

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think your right. I always forget about it. I’m sure it was a tree branch. You know it probably does fill the blank tank some. I think that’s the only vent - so probably hits both the grey and black somehow. Would be interesting to run a hose up there and see where the water goes…. I will make me a note and order the cover - thanks!

    • @coolchef09
      @coolchef09 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Camp Prevost I have seen some that have small solar fans build into the cover that pull the stinky air out of the vent so you don't get smells in your rig. I don't think they fit all vents though.

      @@DeFiDuke I know. We have been doing this for 4 years, girls started getting involved in activities and we got super busy. We haven’t even had the chance if we kept it to use it. Worst thing for the bus was to keep her locked up all the time. She went to a good home in Tx. Ends up my daughter was just diagnosed with leukemia, so blessing for sure not having to worry about it.
