From time to time I get sent things from suppliers , as not to fall foul of TH-cam rules , contract, ref paid sponsorship/ promotions I include #paidpromotion , unless otherwise stated I’m not currently sponsored by any one
That’s one of the earlier 399s with the black cab. Good job getting it split. Fair play to penny she is not scared to get stuck in
👍❤️
I used to work for Massey, the lads on the line called the gearbox input shaft housing ( the bit you removed) the tater masher..
Can't believe how penny tried to blame you for breaking wind 🤷♂️😂😂🍻🍻
@@spudhauler 😂😂😂👍👍
Brilliant vid . Love the massey . You two make me laugh it's great . Thanks Dave .
@@stevecolwill5681 👍👍 thank you , it’s all as it happens here 👍👍
Super stuff as always
🌟👍
The horses always appreciate there ‘grandad Dave’ too look after them!! 🫣😁🙃
🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂
Things I have to do 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The hall marks of a livestock owned tractor, surprised there was no baler twine used on it 😆, I'm busy fixing wiring on a livestock farmers International 674 and wow..... 😳 how on earth that thing never caught fire??? Especially all the bare twisted together wire's, it's been a long job soldering connectors on. Looking forward next video of the 399.🙂👍
Well done 👍
Biggest issues during new tractor design are where to place the batteries and the fuel tank. Fuel tank location can influence tractor weight ratios considerably so placement during design is of crucial importance. Then the budget needs to be met. Use previously released parts or design new parts preferably with a multi model application.
@@grahamclark7594 yea battery location crap on this 399 🤦♂️😂
You’ve got a great work ethic dave! Good man 👍
Thank you , just get on n deal with it 👍
Exactly mate
Hi Dave, why don’t you use the first motion shaft to align the clutch before you put in back onto the transmission. Save you making a tool for it? Great video and excellent work from the apprentice too.👍👍
@@paulg9483 cheers , no bother to make own tools , all gear and it’s there for another day another job 👍
Move one thing...fix a hundred...so goes restoration. Great work! Waiting on the next one. Lovely countryside you live in by the way.
@@thewrenchreviews9986 👍👍👍👍👍👍
You could make a frame up on the side of the steel uprights on the shed and lift the mower up with the gantry crane, would free up floor space. If the landlord doesnt mind.
Great video, that was an early start, best time of the day, that bell housing had some crap in it
@@Gearoid35 👍👍 I’ve always been an early bird 😂 yea , but that 4445 we did was dirtier tho
I've removed the input shaft assembly on my 1996 399 a few weeks ago. When i removed the bolt from the clutch fork, the bolt must have sheared and the remains made it a c'#t of a job to come out. Ended up using the angle grinder on it to remove it. Big rebuild soon though 💪💪.
👍 where there’s a will there’s a way 👍👍
It is back end oil mixed with clutch dust. Change everything while you're in there, including the rear main oil seal
@@andrewplumb6189 yea seams to not be engine oils leaking , drained back end oil down n that was crystal clear
Yes, gearbox seals, gaskets, input shaft seals, rear engine oil seal, spigot and release bearings, clutch overhaul making sure adjustment lock nuts are tight on refitment, bloody good wash out with paraffin (old school). Last thing you need is to have to go back in.
Was up at On the pull on Saturday! I was thinking of you while father phil made it up the hill and negotiated the barrels! But I'll leave it to you to say that engine just isn't right! I guessing a valve issue!😢
👍 I only seen a couple of vids sent to me via phone 👍
A proper work horse the 399 I would remove the flywheel while its apart as its only a five minute job and would give you piece of mind that the rear main seal wasn’t leaking as well, great video as always your apprentice does a good job with any task you give her.
@@rogerquenault7207 👍👍 thanks , yea think that’s the plan , if only to clean it all up b4 reassembly 👍
Just too warn you Dave you can’t get new flywheels for the 399 for a 6.354 found that the hard way on mine when mine was knackered . I had too have it sent off too a company that cut out the wearing part and bolt in a new bit
👍
Looking forward to more work to the 399.
👍 all work in progress 👍
Another great video Dave thanks for sharing, we're the 399s and 699s six cylinder?
399 definitely 6 pot 👍
All 699's and early 399 had the 6354 Perkins straight 6 fitted.@@MasseyDave
Be worth chucking a new set of mudguards on it tidy cab up be a decent tractor why do some farmers never look after there kit .
@@MichaelBradley-j6z it may well happen 👍
Sometimes comes down to money. And there ain't alot out of livestock farming!
Hi Dave, do you enjoy working on kit like the 399, or is it just part of the job as the local farmers rely on you to fix their unloved kit.
Hi , thanks ,👍 if was built by man we will do our best to fix it ,was mainly trucks but more vintage ag stuff , we enjoy a challenge and doin our best to keep customers happy , hopefully with our banter aswell 😂👍👍
🏆
👍
Trade the cup in for a beer
@@steveC2 drunk it 😂🍺
@@steveC2 be a good trade, still room for another 🍻🍻🍻👍😂
Hi dave would u sell the massey mower
Probably not at the moment
Absolutely wrong on the safety start! If anything was to happen someone by reaching in and starting the engine standing on the ground you'll not be fixing many 1200's for a while, and you'll be taking care of by HMP. 😪
Just got a new one In 👍
