I have a YZ250 and recently got a chance to go to a test ride event KTM and Husaberg had. I've tried to tame my YZ for the GNCC enduro events I run and I got it as close as i can but KTM and Husabergs are built for Enduro especially the Husaberg. They are the closest to a 4 stroke you can get torque wise with a 2 stroke and they are a very responsive bike with the throttle. The Husa has a lot better suspension than the KTM which I like. These bikes impressed the shit out of me for being Enduro
Nice job!!! Four strokes will have a hard time, if Husaberg, KTM, Gas Gas, & TM, keep the pressure with this new and very competitive models.... If Cervantes wins E2, this is going to be a TOTAL revolution. Oldrati, Guillaume, Nambotin, keep showing us their real chances on 2 strokes.
Enduro for over 20 years in Mexico own KTM 300 2009 , Husqvarna WR 300 2011 ( nice bike too ) , Now I am looking forward for a Berg 300 2012 . Any comments about the chasis , supension and handling on the EXC 300 2012 ?
@Hill0Billy I also heard the new KTM/Berg 300's make about 70hp. I really need to try one someday! I own now FS570 Berg in motard condinition. What a hooligan bike!
2 strokes will never be as tractable as a 4 or get the fuel economy....as far a torque goes not even close.... Hands down a great 2 stroke Berg fully capable of getting her done ! I also feel cost of maintaining a two stroke vs 4 depending which 450 you ride is almost a push with two stroke being less expensive to rebuild and more mechanically friendly.... I ride a Honda 450r and it doesn't even compare on the trail to my old 550FC Berg. The Berg has bottom end but after that my 04 CRF 450 w
@makexxx 70 hp is a stretch... I could see 50 or so, because my 450 has around 48, everyone on the track calls them old man bikes/ working bikes because they have the power delivery like a 4t, but they don't dive or handle like one. that's the difference between the two, and all stock enduro bikes(berg/ktm) come with some form of flywheel weight to give a better, smoother delivery to keep traction and momentum in the trails. all the experts I know that ride them, ride them for that reason.
I could be wrong in my opinions, I have not road a modern two stroke..... Only modern CR 250 and not the power I like but good top end and flywheel on bottom make the 2t chug good but there is no snap/torch....... 2t can never be as a 4t because of restrictive reeds....
@TheOfficialKC Comparing a 250 2t to 250 4t is like comparing 125 2t to 250 2t.... And why have gp bikes moved two 4t ? Because biger pistons = more power .... 2t stall less on the bottom end power is why some choose 2t and they are lighter..... They don't make more power in low too mid power
2-strokes are easily as tractable as 4-strokes. Out of the rate 300s rival 450 trail bikes. ported 300s are torque monsters. A 250 2-stroke makes 30lb-ft of torque while a 250f only makes 18lb-ft, so 2-stroke DO make way more torque. This is all without modern fuel injection. With DI all these numbers will go up on 2-strokes and they will get 4-stroke fuel economy. It is only a matter of time before 4-strokes are obsolete.
Still have my 2012 Husaberg TE 250. Still love her! More in love now with e-starter fully working again. =)
