It's cool to hear a 19 year old Bruce Dickinson's very first studio recording. You can clearly hear, that he already had an incredible voice here! And now he's the greatest vocalist of all time in the greatest heavy metal band of all time!!! Up the Irons!!! ⚒🤘🤘
There is one slightly older from the first band he was in-speed- the song was called 'on the road' if you look that up you should find it! Edit: i found it, here: th-cam.com/video/mjaZmWGy6DE/w-d-xo.html
@@eddiethehead4791 Bruce said in both his book and the "Voice of Crube" (from the second cd of the "Best of Bruce Dickinson" album) that this was the first ever studio recording that he ever made.
@@eddiethehead4791 I think that is false, because Bruce didn't meet the other band members of Speed before 1977. And they only did a few gigs in some pubs, before the band split up. Although I read somewhere that Bruce recorded the song with Speed in 1980, when Bruce had already joined Samson. But I don't know if it's true.
A lot of you say that Bruce's book "What Does This Button Do" brought you here. But I came here from Bruce's album "The Best of Bruce Dickinson". It's the last song on the second disc.
I'm reading biography of Iron Maiden. I just got to a part where Dickinson records this song with Shots and I'm so glad I found this song here. Thanks for the upload! The more I listen the more I begin to like this. It's actually a very good song.
Holy crap if it was in '77 that means he wrote this song when he was just 18 yrs. old. Truly Bruce was a prodigy, his voice sounds like it was meant to be used to sing.
Bruce is the bomb, every iron maiden song that he sing sis great....not one bad one(in my opinion) and his solo career is also amazing. It all started with this master piece!!!!!!!!
@stephluvslayne It was 77. He recorded this with a band called Shots that hadn't actually been formed yet. After doing this recording, he joined the band and played small time until he finished college. After finishing college, he joined Samson. Iron Maiden heard him when he played the Reading festival with Samson. After Di'Anno was booted from Maiden for drug abuse, Bruce was asked to join due to this.
He actually skipped college and focused completely on music, until Paul Samson asked if he wanted to join his band. Bruce then asked him if they could wait for 2 weeks, so he could finish his exams, that he had totally neglected until then.
Contrary to popular belief, this is not the earliest recording of Bruce singing in existence. It is however, the first publicly released recording of Bruce when he was in a band called Shots, released as a limited pressing single in the London area in 1977. The earliest known recording of Bruce is with a band called Speed of a song called Man In The Street from a demo tape recorded in 1976 and released in limited numbers in 1980 in the London club circuit.
It is the first time EVER Bruce was recording in a REAL studio, with real recording equipments, instead of recording in a garage, with some cheap equipments. That's what everyone here are talking about.
He said he recovered the tape from this recording.. and it was in pretty bad shape... so he had to restore the tape.. himself... with screwdrivers and the whole thing..... He read this add in a paper for a band looking for a singer... so he went there.. and recorded that.
Right. 1979 was the last year of Shots. Bruce recorded the track in 1977 while still in Speed but joined them definitely in middle 1978, i think. Although only Dracula surfaced from Bruce's vaults, it's firmly believed that Shots recorded 2 tracks for this session...
Lyrics Waiting for the midnight hour (x6) My name is Dracula, Come here, I've something for you Dracula, I need a little life Dracula, And you are gonna be my wife Walking through the town when the streets are bare in the night Shadows everywhere, are you sure it's a trick of the light? awesome song!!!no doubt that bruce dickinson would become the best singer of the world after that fucking awesome debut song p.s bruce dickinson is my favorite singer of all time and iron maiden is my favorite band so UP THE IRONS FROM GREECE!!!
@damageplan67 Can't throw out Dio... I'd have to say it's between Dio, Dickinson, and Osbourne. I totally respect Rob Halford, but his voice just doesn't hit me the same way as those three. However, I'm totally willing to put him in a top 4. My top 2 are always Dio, for his aggressively melodic voice, and Dickinson, for his enduring power.
@ironjokk it definitely could be one of those groovy tunes they always played during one of the many chase scenes in the scooby doo cartoons. ;) good call

@alexfanx theatrical is something bruce has always been. but theatrical in a different sense than what he had done with iron maiden, ill agree with that.
hahahaaha this is so 70's funky chessy rock or something like that, i don't even know how to call this.. and to think that five years later bruce was singing about satan on iron maiden :)
You can tell he doesn't have the power in his voice that he had later on. The voice is a muscle, like any other it takes time and work to get it strong.
No. It was BEFORE he was Bruce Bruce in Samson. This was his very first studio recording. Bruce Bruce was both before and after he was Bruce Dickinson.

If you check the description of the video it does say it was most likely recorded in '76.

Man I never would've recognized it was him if it wasn't in the title.
I can hear a little of an Ozzy influence in there too
he was 19 years old here and his voice is like presley's. but after that he improved his voice so perfectly and now he's the best singer in the world.
No. He doesn't sound like Presley at all!!! But Bruce is truly the greatest singer of all time!!! He's been the greatest, since he was in Samson!!!
I know this song since the best of came out in 2001. I laughed back then and I do now. That's so 60s psychedelic but from 1977. Great
Esta canción estaba en su doble recopilatorio de hace unos años. Tiene su encanto, es Dickinson inconfundiblemente.
So young and sings sooo goood! Bruce rules!
Love it!! My all time fav' singer!!!

Chon12490 he didn’t write this song
Bruce Dickinson 1977.... Wtf !? I'm so ashamed to discover it now >
Why is this so amazing?
I think this song is just awesome! The mood of it great.
Great job for a young boy Bruce!
I really like this tune. It's odd, goofy and right up his alley in left field.
I m here because I consider this a Halloween song....
This is a pretty good piece of music!
Great... mighty Bruce!
And so it begins....;)
The drums are like the heartbeat!
woah didn't know this was his first recording! sounded amazing already
Thanks for posting this - f'king love it!
I can"y believe this is the first time I have heard this song.
Wow. its a great song!
I still think “its” a great song, eight years later! 😂❤️
Miss the days of this tone in his voice

@@michelecollin4249Acho que ele estava antes de Sansão porque se juntou ao Maiden em 81

I... Love this...

This song can be found on the Best of Bruce Dickinson album. The two brothers are called Phil and Doug Siviter

Sounds he was listening to a lot of Blue Oyster Cult.
It wasn't Bruce, who made that song. It was 2 brothers, who made that song and needed a singer, so they could record it in a studio.

@DDAY44j YES IT IS the voice is the same
Is it a previous of "Fear of the dark" lyrics?
No, it's the first ever "goth" song.
o,,o
Previous to Bruce entering Iron Maiden indeed (so pretty previous to Fear of the dark) :P
No. Steve Harris wrote the lyrics to Fear of the Dark. And I'm pretty sure Bruce hadn't played this song for Steve before 2001.
Reminds me of Bauhaus
on the album "best of bruce dickinson"
So....apparently....he’s waiting for the midnight hour.
So... two minutes to midnight...?
lol this was Bruce's very first recording so yea If Maiden did a remake it should sound way better
