The NTG is a great mic, my favourite of all the mics I own. If you cant afford it, you can get some of its advantages with the Rode Videomic Go 2 (NOT the Videomicro 2)

The VideoMic NTG is a nifty product, but I reckon we an also thank Deity for this existing as they've helped push Rode forward in having to innovate in response!

100% agree with you. The Diety D3 Pro came out first and it looks like Rode took a design leaf out of their book - but improved on it!
Competition is always healthy and better for us as the consumer as we get better products.

Great video! When using it via USB, the battery no longer matters right? And I don't need any other cable?

    Very helpful review
I want to ask, i have both the wireless go and the ntg
when using them simultaneously (ntg plugged into the wireless go) do i need to pay attention on the db level in the receiver of the wireless go or i just need to pay attention to the configuration on the ntg?
    Thank you, much appreciated

Hi Hamzah, I would set the level on the wireless go reciver to low or medium as it will clip at high. I would then set the level on the videomic NTG to low and work your way up until you have a decent level. Remember you can always turn the volume up on audio that is too low in post, but you cant recover audio that is distorting or clipping.

it seems using the rode transmitter makes the sound quality drop considerably

      It shouldn't.
He's using it way too close, and overloading the NTG or transmitter.

When you connect the Video mic NTG to the supplied sc10 cable and then to the Rode vc1 to your camera, is there any hissing or buzzing?

Not that I can notice. I've used it for all my latest videos and I think its very clear.
