Thank you! How do you deal with the terrible sync between devices? Usually when I edit or add a note with my phone/iPad don't sync to the desktop! It makes me sick. Any way to enforce the sync?
Hey Gustavo, your best bet for sync between your devices is to make sure you have all your updates installed on all of your devices, ensure your properly signed into the apps, and having One Drive installed and signed in on your mobile device seems to help as well.

Question - In regards to audio recordings, where in the system are they addressed or labeled as "Voice Notes"? I need to make sure I have this correct because I'm leading a session on this and don't want my students confused on terminologies. Thanks

Nice video! I use OneNote to take notes at university on my Surface Pro 6 but since you only talked about the great stuff in the app I'll talk about two of the most infuriating missing features that needs to be added: 1) I need a feature for impagination: let me just decide if I want to put my page in an A4 format so that i can print out my notes easily. I get that they want to have that "infinite scroll" paper but, giving me the option is still better than nothing. 2) Let. Me. Export. My. Pages. In. PDF. I don't get it. I simply don't. All the other apps in Office can export any kind of work in PDF but OneNote always gives me some errors for some reason or, back to problem no.1, it prints the entire page I wrote (usually 2.5 hrs lectures) in just one page of the PDF making it necessary to zoom in and impossible to print out. Also, i don't really know why (maybe it's because most of the notes are taken with the pen so there's a lot of "ink") but the app Is now 10GB. I tried to backup the notebooks from last semester but It always gave me back a corrupted file making unable to backup the notebooks in another drive and cancel It from the one they are stored in..
Have you checked out One Note 2016? All your issues seem to be addressed there. You can choose a page size under the View tab, and can export a document as a PDF no problem. Also, if you keep your One Notes in One drive they are automatically backed up and synced, not sure about that issue.
Hey Francesco, apologies for not replying to you! Appreciate the support. Personally, I would love those features as well, especially the ability to export to PDF... For backing up your Notebooks, try to make sure your notebooks are saved to OneDrive from the start, not down the line, then you can access it from any device, and it technically has backups built in for you! What kind of OneNote video do you think would be helpful to people?
Do you have Microsoft 365? The OneNote free version does not have the export to PDF option, but the Microsoft 365 version does. I agree that as a notebook app, it should be available regardless of what version you use.
great tips ! i find the division of sections and sub sections a game changer, i can basically have all my semester lectures and notes in one tab , i do have one question though , would you have any trick to make the highlighting less messy? when you highlight manually you can create such a mess . Am I correct in assuming the difference between "Insert as a File" and "Insert as a Printout"... the difference is th "Printout" puts into my Notebook the current version of the file; whereas the "Insert as a File" links to the original file,... so-- if the original file is modified two weeks later, and someone clicks on the "Insert as a File" link six months later, they'll get the updated version -?
@@competitivecomputingconsul133 Sure, it's quite easy. Have have tabs for cases that my company works on (some I share with coworkers using shared notebooks). For each case, I have pages, for the case details. Each case I have a WorkFlows page. On this page I may have multiple lists with bold text as titles. The list is a checkbox list which once I have checked I can select all and uncheck for the next time. These are mostly workflows that I do not do often and need a reminder of the steps. Some check items are things that I cannot do automatically. Other items I can create links. I use the shortcut Control + k, which brings up the Link dialog box. I type a meaningful "Text to display" then in the "Address" box I type or paste a URL, path to folder or file (can be .bat, .exe, etc.). When I click on the link, it may ask me first if I want to open to the folder or run the file. This is a security warning, but works as a good confirmation.

Hey Rachel. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, and the uptick in Microsoft Teams users, Microsoft had to disable some features temporarily in MS Teams. It should work soon, but make sure you're accessing the right notebook from Teams!

All versions have their ups and downs. I would recommend knowing in advance what your target audience is looking for, the most, and then just go with that version of OneNote. For any other additions, have a focus group that concentrates on the specific application that gives them what they need. Last, if you have no idea what OneNote offers, then try all versions.

I am using One Note on a new iPad with the magic keyboard. When I am on a page attempting to type, typing works fine, but when I hit the space bar, the cursor jumps to the search window and does not put a space into my text! What am I doing incorrectly?

Hey there, they're not labeled as voice notes, but they are labeled as "audio". They should just appear on the page when you add a voice note!

Best feature for me is in the Desktop version. I open folder/files as part of semi-automatic workflows outlined in OneNote.

Sounds like you're using the older version of onenote. The one in the video is the brand new free version.
