    • @robhendrikx2198
      @robhendrikx2198 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't agree. Every lap there were little jabs, mostly Van der Poel forcing Van Aert to react and close the gap, and all the while fooling him, as former champion Richard Groendael explained, into thinking he would attack on the planks whilst in reality planning to make his move in the sprint. It was chess as much as cycle cross.

    What a great race between Van Del Poel and Van Aert? The crowds are amazing! Wow! However, as is the norm with UCI it is so corrupt? What we have here is so DISCRIMINATION being practices in the world championships without a doubt! We have 40 entrants with the majority from Europe? Are these the European championships? There is only one Japanese from Asia? I guess UCI is telling us that no Asians can ride a cyclo-cross bicycle? There is no African entry? I guess UCI is telling Africans that you can not ride a cyclo-cross bike? There is one rider from Columbia and Costa Rica? I guess UCI is telling Central and South Americans that you too can not ride a cyclo-cross bike? There is one American and one Canadian but no Mexican riders? I guess UCI is telling Mexicans that you can not ride a cyclo-cross bike? There is no Australian or New Zealander riders? I guess UCI is telling Australians, New Zealenders and Asians in general that they too can not ride a cyclo-cross bike? In conclusion, this should be designated as a European Championship race versus a world championship race. Because the world is NOT fully represented!

      Too much guessing and not enough thinking. Cyclocross is predominatly ridden in Belgium and The Netherlands by Belgian and Dutch riders.

    • @reinaldomackintosh2278
      @reinaldomackintosh2278 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harmen1832 There are many sports that are indeed predominated by Europeans and a handful other non European countries, speedskating is another one, this can be for various reasons. But how can a sport become world championships and even olympic without participation of athletes of all five continents? I know I don't have to ask you but the UCI and the IOC.

    • @veloCity127-g6m
      @veloCity127-g6m ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be truly nice if CX was as popular in other parts of the world as it is in B / NL. And the UCI would certainly have nothing against it, but cycling is prevented elsewhere rather (car traffic, etc. ). Already here in Germany CX leads a shadowy existence because there are no structures and high-quality races. And thus also no possibility to earn money with it. It's different in Belgium. In these countries, cycling is encouraged from an early age, whereas in Germany it is rather prevented, as it hinders cars and destroys the meadow.

    • @harmen1832
      @harmen1832 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@reinaldomackintosh2278 for a sport to become popular things should change culturally.
      In Belgium and The Netherlands everybody rides a bike. And cross or road racing is a popular sport.
      Its not up to the UCI to change culture. All they can do is try to promote the sport in other countries. But if nobody is interested, then what?
      Also, there are many sports that are only popular in a select number of countries and still have world cups (cricket, baseball, ice hockey, rugby, table tennis, just to name a few).
