This is ingredients wise authentic recipe. Usage of ginger powder,fennel seed powder, asafoetida everything is perfect. Except the oil. Authentic recipe uses mustard oil ..

Turn out very good at first attempt, love I made the 1st part of gravy first and then used same to boiled potatoes.
I tried this and came out really good. I made only the gravy as I donot want to eat potato's. Every one should try this.

The book is called Bhaga Shastra. It is an amazing book. The food that is cooked as per Bhaga Shastra will never make anyone gain weight doesn't matter how much anyone eats. I would suggest using tongs to flip potatoes in oil. Also I would quarter potatoes for more fried surface area adding flavor and texture. Awesome recipe! I will enjoy soon as a NEW vegetarian. Saving as a favorite.

Growing up my best friends parents had lived in India most their lives and I really loved their food. I've been craving it something crazy lately, even after 20yrs! Looks yummy and love all the ingredient that it takes, but it looks too oily. Any suggestion on making it tad bit healthier.
I made this a few days ago and it was a big hit ! I used way less chilli powder though as I disagree that the red paste doesn't have much heat. It was about the level of a madras I'd say, using the paste and just 1 tsp chilli powder.

the kashmiri dum aloo that i have tried in various restraunts are slightly yellow in colour and sweet with a lot of dry fruits... no doubt the recipe is great ... but why haven't you added the sweet touch to this?

Thank you for a good video of great recipe,but i just wonder how the boiled cooked potatoes were deep fried cooked in the gravy for so long time and still managed the shape not even without sign a of what those potatoes came through till the end of the dish and looked like river side big pebbles.100% marks for the potatoes managed.cheers and let be more recipes to shared.
