Nehru did not sow seeds of democracy in India..It is the hindu culture n religion n the hindu people who allowed it to be a democracy. If bharat was majority Muslim we will be another pakistan..

If Pavan Verna was living in USA, his name would habeeb shortened to “Pav” or “Van” He may not have any objection to it, but others want their name not messed up. That is called self respect. Bharat is us, India is what foreigners call us.

I saw real india 🇮🇳 when I first visited Badrinath in 1984 as part of Chardham Yatra ! I saw buses arriving with People arriving from almost every part of country including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka ! Many of the People could not converse with each other due to different languages they spoke !
The real shocker was that those who could not converse with each other joining the Aarti in Badrinath together without any difficulty !
That showed me the real Bharat !
That showed me how despite so many invasions we faced, we could survive as a Nation !

The best thing which has happened after 2014 is re-emergence of our 👍 heritage which deliberately tried to be sidetracked first by invader Muslim rulers, than by British and finally by Jawaharlal Nehru who particularly tried to make today’s generation forget greatness of its past !

We have definitely revived bigotry, communal hatred, lynching, jingoism and shameless behavior in parliament. It is time we introspect otherwise we will end us in a very dark place.

This debate was a bit damp squib. J Sai Deepak or Anand Ranganathan or Harsh Madhusudhan or Sudhanshu Trivedi would have given more than sufficient reactions to Verma's opinions. In fact Sudhanshu would have given a befitting couplet.

A learned former diplomat of Pawan verma again fails to impress us with his beaten to death left narrative. He himself agrees that india is given by outsider but says it is important as bharath. But he fails bharath existed long before Arabs and British invaded us

This is the problems of Left liberal media groups. They don't talk on facts, within periyar philosophy they have snatched janeu of Brahmins on daily basis within Tamilnadu. Is it acceptable for any Muslims or Christian if such act will be carried out with them in current india. However media group like this never show or talk about this matter. This is clearly hearted and Target against an community and still left media groups had never raise this issue in India.

Pavan Varma calling india 🇮🇳 as a Young Nation shows shallowness of his thoughts ! Persons of this type don’t understand that India was known as a “Sone ki Chiria” ! He will not understand that Indian culture was extended to whole south east Asia !

Nowhere in ancient history is Sindhu or any of it's cognates defined as folk living East of the Sindhu, according to the ancients such as Scylax it was folk living ALONG the mighty Sindhu not those residing in the lands of the Ganga Basin or Deccan Plateau.

This was never one country before colonialism and globalisation. The unity of the different groups in this sub continent was achieved after our struggles to stand up to the British. In a geographical area with a plethora of lingual and cultural identities, the term India, which is common to all people inside and outside the country makes more sense. This word doesn’t belong to any one particular indigenous group or their language. While the term Bharat is associated with one language and the group which speaks that language. And with language comes a particular construct of social structure. Ask any language anthropologist how language is connected to one’s thoughts and you’ll know why it’s not mere issue of a name. The southern states and north eastern states are not associated with hindi and they don’t have to, it’s a democracy after all. So why would you impose a common language and impose a name for the whole country in that language without even consideration of these states. It’s been years, since we got our freedom; did our country have a problem functioning without a common language? NO. We’ve built missiles and rockets and satellites as a country. So this is just a political sting.

    What is short term phenomena?
Kisee ke Ghar mein Ghuskar Fridge check karo; Khaane ke liye jo kuch bhi Goshth milaa tho Musalmaan insaan ko lynching karke maardaalo; Kuch saalon ke baadh Bahuth Bade Desh Bhakth ne jinhone Musalmaanon ko lynching karke maar daale, unhee ko sandhesh dethe hai ki "jis Musalmaan ko lynch kiya, uske Fridge mein kaunsa Goshth thaa, usee Goshth ko khaane ke liye".
Is this the short term phenomena?

Jaggi needs to defend the BJP. Jagannath needs to brush up his history of India. Only historians will tell you what india really is. Bharat and India is one. We are south of the Indus River. Hence India!
BJP is afraid of the Alliance INDIA so they find it politically expedient to use BHARAT. That's the main reason for changing the name.
    Everybody knows it.

Not a single BJP leader can match upto Nehru's cultured, erudition, vision and stature.
Nehru had a vision of Modern India.
