This song doesn't just stick out to me because of how good it is, it's also because of what was happening while this was playing. The whole scene was amazing and terrifying.
The first time i hear this track and what was happening in the anime it just felt like all hope is gone...only doom I really felt dread, absolute terror and by the end of the chapter i was full of tears. Really amasterpiece of track
What impress me is that the music follow the anime in its structure, having in the beginning a wall of sound that disappears to give entrance to the titans footsteps. AWESOME 😎
Yess! Footsteps of Doom is one of my favorites from season 4 alongside “From you 2000 years ago”. It’s a beautiful track you should check out sometime!
@@azmalftw It's really hype, though. The whole king presentation is stunning, especially when they're accommodating his armor, it fills that powerful presence he has as an emperor.
I truly felt evil and death just from the choirs my first time hearing them. This combined with Eren's message to all was beyond perfect and fitting. The track is truly one of the best out there.
Great reaction of one of the best AOT tracks. A fun fact: When the footsteps are heard, it is always 4 footsteps. That's because the number 4 in Japanese has a similar pronunciation to the word "death". Because of this, in Death Note, many of the notebook rules have that number (within 40 seconds of writing a person's name, that person will die; or you have 6 minutes and 40 seconds (400 seconds) to write a specific cause of death). death, etcetera).
Ah, i got what you you talk. In Japanese, number 4 eventually said by "yon" but "shi" not always came with the talks. That because 4 "shi" also had a meaning "death". For example like "omae wa mo SHIndeiru."
@@adistyacnugroho7583 that's because "yon" is a kunyomi (traditional japanese reading) and "shi" is an onyomi (chinese reading) of the character 四 (4) which they borrowed from China, as basically all the other hieroglyphs (kanji). So, in China, the number 4 is also considered unlucky, as well as in Japan. :)
0:11 "Before Lights Out" and "Apetitan" are basically different versions of the same song. "Apetitan" is the epic instrumental version; "Before Lights Out" is the rock version with lyrics; "tooth-i:" is the tragic instrumental version.
@@DanoCDA Maybe I wasn't clear, I meant underrated in the sense that I haven't seen people reacting to it or people suggesting it as an option to react to like they do with other songs, not that it is disliked.
"This chord progression is so dark" - Dude. Imagine us, the show viewers, experiencing this score for the first time along with the possibly one of the DARKEST scenes in the anime (not gonna spoil, dw ^^). But it honestly felt like my soul was leaving my body at that moment, while I was frozen to the screen, it was so eerie and disturbing 😬😰
The moment the episode this came with dropped, Angel of Doom by Shiro Sagisu played in Evangelion 1.11 was dethroned as my favorite song immediately (and I love that song) Just goes to show how much work was put into this masterpiece! (wait I'm just now realizing that my two recent favorite songs had "of Doom" in the title lol)
when this started playing in the anime I was literally terrified. especially that creepy sound in the background at a certain point. as an anime only I was frozen.
Yes People were afraid that the music would lose quality because Hiroyuki Sawano is no longer involved as intensely since he doesn't really compose a new theme for the final part. In my opinion it was a necessary change I think it allows to have tracks that sound a little different from what we have already heard and since the final season is different from the rest we had to bring something else. Even if Sawano could have done it himself, I have no doubt about it. But as he works closely with KOHTA YAMAMOTO on many projects so he composed the main music I think he said it's in good hands while staying in the kind of sounds we make since he influences each other Thanks to this I think that aot will forever have one of the most remarkable ost for an anime in any case with an obvious link to its history for everything you hear

Another brilliant video! As great as Footsteps of Doom is, I do look forward to when you eventually get to hear T-KT. It's not nearly as 'hype' but it beautifully conveys some of the softer emotions of the series.
What makes this piece so especially brilliant is how the composer develops his three themes and overlays them with each other. There is very little in the way of anything "new," just excellent reusing of previous material. That and the fact that this is probably the darkest "apocalypse" theme I've ever heard.
