Yamamoto also helped with character songs for AoT I believe. They’re like lyrical theme songs that were never released in the official soundtrack (Separate album and I think these were released as promo for S2? Can’t remember all the details). I know he was credited as the main composer for one of Eren’s songs. So this guy has actually been working on AoT since early on, in part that he’s mentored by Mr. Sawano himself. Its so cool and I’ve been loving his vision in S4. You can hear the influences of Sawano’s themes from previous seasons but with a new touch.
You couldn't be more right saying it sounds like doom, because the scene during this song is like you're witnessing apocalypse gaining physical form in front of your very eyes, exploding and spilling onward, it was insane, and the music just elevated the feeling of dread to 11.
