How to open a jammed/frozen oven door hinge (Electrolux)

- While reinserting an oven door, the hinge flipped into the closed position. I feared forcing the hinge open and could not find any videos showing how to unfreeze the hinge which was in the "closed" position. At first I thought it worked in a fashion similar to a kitchen cabinet: where a reset pin releases the spring. However, it's simpler than that and doesn't require disassembly.

I had this problem. I tried to fix it like you've shown. I was unable to do it this way but it helped a lot in making me understand the mechanism. I was able to use a small wrench to pull back the piece the lock was holding and then I was able to get the oven door back on hooray!

My lock goes up but wont stay open, just springs back closed

Can you make the video for those of us who have the door hinge locked in one side??, door won't open. We need to get the door to open" first" then remove the hinge to followyour video instructions.. I had pulled to the point that handle to door is cracked 😐. Your video is informative...BUT... how about showing us how to open a locked door???? There is no way to insert any tools into the hinge at all. I have a GE Spectra model: JBP67-WOD 1 WW. Hope you will help us. Thank you.

Can you please give me the model of the oven and hinge you show in this video?????!!!!! I have a Fratelli Onofri oven that has busted hinges and I can't find them anywhere but these look almost identical to them and I thought it was worth a shot rather than buying a new oven!

It's locking into place and is designed to hold a bit of weight. When it's in place doing its job, it naturally snaps into place. But if when you detach it from the stove proper (so as to clean thoroughly) you run the risk that it'll snap into the closed position. That's what happened to me. Taking it to pieces was a mistake and unnecessary. All that was needed was a screw driver and steady force to reopen it.

My oven door closed with the lock on, a flat head screw driver didn't work for me so I used a medium size monkey wrench and it worked and I'm sure a vice grip will work but I didn't try it
You need to keep it fixed while you pry it with a strong tool (eg screw driver) unless it has corroded.

Well. I want pizza, but my oven's lock stopped working yesterday and today the door is just locked in place on the right side. The left side of the door opens a little, but the right side won't budge. I WANT MAH PIZZA!
