I got a for my two German shepherd and yes I agree with you…. I need to know where to find my German shepherd in case they get lost. I love my two German shepherd. You have a beautiful dog:) and I enjoy very much your beautiful video.
@@GrandAdventure relaxing is the word. Put my favorite chair out next to my rig and watch the sunset. Went solo and loved it. Should have rented a dog!
Very important item for the camping doggies, as well as any doggie, our dog has never gotten loose while we are camping but you never know when it could happen, great idea, 👍great review. Travel safe Marc.
Our pleasure, Don. We're really, really happy with that collar thus far. We were at the storage unit the other night, and as the entire place is fenced in and because there was no one else around, we let Zoe out of the truck as we loaded things into the storage unit. While we had our back turned for just a moment she ducked under a gap in the security fence and disappeared. Using the app, I could instantly see exactly where she was, behind the storage building across the driveway from ours, and quickly retrieved Zoe and put her back in the truck. Without the Fi collar I would've had no idea where to begin to look.
Michael, if outside of cell service it will still communicate with the base station and the user's phone via Bluetooth, but it won't be able to provide long-range information via the LTE network. FYI the collar uses AT&T's network for cellular connectivity.
Thanks for the 411. We don't have a traveling fur buddy...yet. However, when we do, you can assured the Fi collar will be on the list of must haves to get! 👍🐕
That thing looks pretty cool Marc. Our dog is small, we would have to find a way to attach it to her harness. What kind of battery life does it get on lte mode if the dog gets lost? Larry
There are harnesses available from third parties to accommodate the Fi module for Chewy, Larry. Here's some info on battery life in the various operating modes: support.tryfi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015390094-Battery-Life
New sub here. Have the FI myself. It has the added feature of the wife tracking our camping moves. Great channel, looking forward to looking at more content.
We're thrilled to have you along, Terry. Thanks for the sub! We look forward to bringing you weekly Grand Adventures. As for the Fi collar, it's one of the best things we've ever picked up for Zoe.
this episode prompted me to look for a kitty gps collar or halter. Our silver Maine Coon -- Rosie -- .loves to travel with us and enjoys being out in the garden with me. I think she will also enjoy short hikes until she learns leash management better (for now she manages me on the leash -- smelling here, catching dragonflies or grasshoppers there, and generally stopping and starting. I'll check your link to see if Fi has anything for cats. Is your Fi system still working well with Zoe?
We love it Katie. It also lets me keep track of how much exercise she gets. If imagine, though, that it would be hard to get those electronics much smaller than they gave already, at least with the current technology.
First of all.... Congratulations on your 200th video!! 👍🏼👍🏽 Interesting tracking device. We have a small dog and wonder if the collars are different sizes for small, medium or large dogs. We try to hide from our dog and she always has an eye on us. She refuses to leave us alone! 😉 Looking forward to your upcoming travels! Hopefully now the masses will be calmer. 🙄 Thanks Marc!
Thanks Ram! Yes, there are collars available in multiple sizes support.tryfi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018860034-Sizing-Guide , and even harnesses that would be ideal for very small dogs. And yep, we're super excited to be finally hitting the road in the morning.
Thank you so much for this video, its such a scary feeling not knowing were your pet is. I'm going to share your video on a few FB trailer sites, I'm sure many people will enjoy seeing it and buy this product. Thanks again for all your videos :)
Thank you Michael! We're tickled that you'd choose to share this, thank you for that as well. We've only had the collar for a short time but it's already given us incredible peace of mind.
Great PSA Marc and I'm heading over to use your coupon code right now! But shhh, don't let my wife Grace know or I'll have to buy two so she can keep up with my whereabouts... (oh scratch that, she already uses Find Me app). Anyway, great to see you're getting out again and great to link up with you at Q21.
Hey there! TH-cam just notified me of your latest episode upload May 4, but clicking on the link returns "This Video Is Private". I could not immediately find an email for you to let you know, so I am doing so here. Looking forward to your next Grand Adventure!
Thanks Thom! Yep, we accidentally uploaded that overnight as public, so we were startled to see it available when we got up in the morning. As you've since noticed, it's now available as Episode 201 following last night's Premiere.
I would be extremely interested on an update after you have used the collar for awhile while out of cell range. Does the GPS work even when deep in the mountains? Most of our trips specifically where the dogs can be off leash are off grid areas. Loved this video, THANKS!
Thank you Heather! When outside of cell range it's effective only while within long-range Bluetooth connection of the phone running the Fi app. Any collar like this needs a way to communicate its position data with a device carried by the owner. While the Bluetooth connection far better than nothing, while outside of cell service the collar lacks the "Lost Dog" functionality that it has when operating on LTE.
Of course that varies by the person, Rabbi, but we're confident that we'll be using this Fi collar at all times. It's come in handy in one minor situation already.
Fi changed their pricing model about a year ago. Now they provide the module and the service in one fee. Rates vary, and you can see them at tryfi.com .
When the collar has access to LTE via AT&T's network the range is worldwide. If outside of cell service it's limited to long-range Bluetooth between the collar and the base station and/or the owner's phone.
Sorry to see you go, Richard, but as we pointed out in the video we're not making any money off of this. We're just a happy paying customer and that's the extent of our business relationship with Fi. Keep in mind, when we're stationary for the winter months we have to do things like DIYs and product reviews to keep pumping out video content each week. That's not easy to do when you're not seeing new things to film and share. However, beginning this Saturday we're back on the road and will be returning to RV travel content momentarily.
I’m greatly for this information and will be getting one soon. Nearly every day Im thinking about this poor guy in a Washington park that was looking for his dog. He was camping and someone lit a firecracker and he ran off scared. He extended his stay several days and never found his dog. It was so sad. He had signs up all over and I sure hope someone eventually found the dog.
That is interesting. First time I have seen or payed attention to a dog caller like that. I think it may be a good investment.
Happy to hear that you found the information useful, William!

Even this type video is good quality information .
Appreciate that J! We're headed to the central Utah desert in the morning to connect with @HomieatLarge for next week's episode.

Are there smaller collars for small dogs?
Yes there are, Tricia. Here's their sizing guide: support.tryfi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018860034-Sizing-Guide
Hello all
Hello there Clark!
Why don't they add containment?
I would get this. From my experience things like these quickly become unused. And it’s only a good deal to pay 3 years in advance.
Of course that varies by the person, Rabbi, but we're confident that we'll be using this Fi collar at all times. It's come in handy in one minor situation already.
Do you pay mouthed fee if so how much

Will you take me with you! My wife hates driving long distances.
Come along anytime, Joseph.
what is the range?

does fi work on spectrum ?
The Fi collar uses AT&T, whereas your phone running the app can be with any carrier.
What about battery life?
