- 2021 was a very good year for Casper, his Brothers AND visitors to Kruger National Park's Satara Rest-camp area.
It seems that the Brothers have made the Satara region their territory and are spotted regularly around the camp.
During 2021 we recorded the most sightings EVER of Casper and his Brothers! Especially during the latter parts of the year.
Thank you Casper and Brothers for entertaining us during 2021 with your magnificent presence!
We wish Casper and his Brothers AND the Satara Lionesses a healthy, safe and fertile 2022 - Hopefully we will be blessed with a White Lion Cub or two in the new year?
The reason why white lions are so incredibly rare is because the mating female and the male must both possess the recessive gene called leucism in order to produce a white lion cub. The likelihood of both lions having this gene is extremely uncommon, which is why these pale-coloured lions are so special.
We also extend our best wishes to all our viewers!

Casper the White Lion is ONE of only THREE White Lions currently alive in the wild.
Casper and his three Brothers: Casanova, Footloose and Mfowethu control the Satara Pride and are often seen around Satara Rest-camp.
The other two White Lions - Brother and Sister - are from the Birmingham Pride and their territory are in the Ngala Private Game Reserve to the west of Kruger National Park some 60 Km west of Satara.
Sometimes the two Birmingham White Lions wanders into Kruger Park close to Orpen Rest-camp area.
Casper and his Brothers were born into the Shishangaan Pride and fathered by Xihamham and his Brother 'Old Grumpy' about 7.5 years ago.
Xihamham and his Brother currently control the Mananga AND Mountain Prides to the east of Satara Rest-camp around the Singita Concession Area.

The Shishangaan Pride are lately Controlled by a remaining Ex Male of the Kumana Pride in a coalition with a younger Male called Maputo.
The Birmingham pride is the prominent pride of Ngala Private Game Reserve.The current dominant coalition of the Birmingham Pride are two males known as the Ross Males, who took over the Pride in early 2018.
Their two White Lion offspring's are currently about 2.5 to 3 years old.

• If you need to follow them, then do so at a reasonable distance to avoid the stress it might cause the animals by following too closely.
• Please TURN OFF your car engines at a sighting - The Wildlife and other Tourist DO NOT need your AIR and NOISE Pollution.
GAME DRIVE ETIQUETTE - RULES (SANParks):
- When you come across a sighting, slowly pull over on the side of the road closest to the animal, but keep a safe distance
- If there are animals in the road, immediately stop at least 20 m from them
- The lane furthest from the sighting should NEVER be blocked, so that others can pass if they want to
- Don’t linger longer than a few minutes at a sighting, so that others can view it too
- Never go off the designated roads
- Never climb out of your vehicle during a drive, or hang out of your car windows or sunroof
- Don’t hoot or blare loud music
- Avoid driving into vegetation, as this could damage the environment or kill small animals
- During night drives, never shine a spotlight directly in animals’ eyes
- Never make noise to get animals to move, stand up or otherwise react for pictures
- Respect the rangers, and always comply with their requests or instructions

No white cubs yet!!! There are cubs but they are NOT white...we have to wait for some time to see if white cubs are produced.

Casper is absolutely beautiful... majestic & I love the family's affection for each other. Lions are awesome animals to watch. You don't see many other wildcats in packs like that, so many are solitary which is why lions are so cool to watch

I enjoy watching the brothers as a whole. They are a team ad when Casper is gone too long the brother's roar for him to come back. His brothers aren't as scared up as Caper bc Casper goes off on his own hunt catching prey by himself.🦁🦁🦁🦁

2021 has been a very challenging year in the lion dynamics all across the board. I'm hoping and 🙏for a great New Year for all lion prides with the hope that things will settle down and rest time will come for them to where threats become at bay and greed for territory, takeovers, will be minimized. I understand that their nature and instincts are driving them to do what they do, but a rest period will be welcomed. We have lost too many lions in the last two years.
Why we had lost too many lion's in two years
@@SalmanKhan-eu2mp Firstly, I'm not expert but I believe the problem is;
1) human expansion which draws lion prides too close together that increases lion pride take overs that leads to any cubs not surviving.
2) Then there's TB caught of the Buffaloes that is always present and worse in certain years.
3) The gene pool is declining.
4) Reduced migration due to fences/ boundaries, towns, cities water holes, grazing land, and so on...
Then there's hope, positives. Game Reserves secure a breeding stock and defend them with Rangers, etc. Also, most local countries/communities now realize that tourism is a big buck$ revenue earner that will always contnue if they protect it, and in reality, it's their heritage that they will lose.

Today casper and brothers get control of satara pride and they are mating with satara girls. Probably have cubs in future.
Nearby there is Nsemani pride with 12 yrs old fig male and senior mbiri male ( matimba eldest son). They have 4-5 subadults males almost 4 years.
Am I right? Please tell if not.

A lion or lioness exhibits the Flehmen response after sniffing or smelling the urine or faeces of another lion or lioness. The cat will lift his or her head, and hold their lips back in a strong grimace for a period lasting several seconds. Cats have a vomeronasal organ (often called the organ of Jacobson) located above the palate. By sniffing deeply, and then pulling back their lips, they are in fact 'testing' the chemical content of the urine left behind by the earlier animal. This action plays an important part in enabling male lions to determine whether a female may be entering an oestrous cycle.
