Nice work. You made me laugh with the "hunt you down" crack at the end. The screen is okay if you are staring right at it. The worst thing is there is no way to play the paddle games right, which is sad. I actually own several of these (3, I think), and completely agree with you about the crummy D-pad. You can find places online to download .BIN format ROMs that will work for this, which I did for a unit that I tucked away somewhere I cannot find at this time. You need to use the lowest capacity SD you can find, because I think It wont read any over 8GB. Got lazy and ordered one (SD game card) from a guy on eBay for around $20. It has over 1000 games on it, allegedly. I will try that out with the unit that I have right here. Wish me luck.
You can you just need to put it on an SD card. Also if you want a higher quality device to run your Atari games the MyArcade Gamestation Portable is coming out and it'll have all the controls needed for Atari games like a paddle it's coming later this year which also has SD card support. But if you just want a simple cheap device for Atari games the flashback portable is fine enough

Those extra buttons are mapped to the control switches on the 2600 console.

No need to hack it. It has a functional SD card that can play nearly EVERY 2600 rom.
