Just ordered one. I got the 1/18th drift mustang a month ago it’s a lil big for the break room at work so I think this will do better. I’m sure using the lower gearing would help as well. I wanna see if I can somehow make a scoop to channel air to the motor for better cooling or something like that. Rock one you crazy kids.
Great vid, it's cool to see drivers from beginner to pro on the same buggy 👍👍 as an "amateur" drifter myself, may I be so bold as to give 1 tip...... Don't try and drift, try and run a "fast", smooth lap.... And as you get smoother, start adding more throttle, it will come to you.... Don't chase it, you'll only loop out 👍
That Rc is definitely worth the price, and to be honest you both did as good as most other beginners would’ve done, but you could definitely tell that the pro had the 18yrs experience like he said, as drifting is very hard and he made it look really easy and it definitely isn’t, as it has a lot of subtle moments with lots of throttle inputs in tight areas and that’s why it makes it hard for most people to do , because most Rc users are bashing in big areas and wide open throttle on rough surfaces usually or straight up circuit racing and that’s definitely different also. But it definitely takes talent to drift on those types of drift tracks. Stay and Play Safe !! 👊✌️
I have a couple of drifter. They are fun. Go hard. Am watching from Tasmania, so many opportunities for drifting and crawlers. Stoked to see this footage.
Thanks so much!! Yes the track it pretty sweet and how about that pro drifter? He was very impressive wasn't he! Wish we could drift like that... Just give us 18 years 😅
Great video guys, you really showed the capabilities of the car. For the price you get a very good package and the only real difference between the WL and MiniZ are Brushed motor and ESC vs Brushless and ESC. The suspension tuning you can acquire through upgrades, but at some point you would probably want to move towards a higher price point platform, like the MiniZ. For the price it is more the capable as an introduction to the sport and in the right hands you it can show up a MiniZ! Great work guys. You now need to practice so that you can get from beginner to the next level :)
@@johnymodem1326 the Wl toys biggest weakness is the steering knuckles and upper arms which for like $30 most of the rc will be aluminum with some slight modification

Guys that track looks awesome, great video, only just found your channel👍🏻I've smashed that button 👍🏻 I'm currently converting the k989 in to a mini drifter 👍🏻👍🏻
Just bought this RC a few weeks ago as my first drift car so I’m quite happy to see its potential in the hands of a pro! Thank you for that 😁 Btw, the tires aren’t the only difference with the K989. The K989 has open diffs whereas the K969 has locked diffs for easier drifting. It’s pretty much impossible to drift with open diffs.
Great video guy's 👍. I've got the k989 with drift tires on and locked diffs. For a beginner at drifting like me these cars are perfect for the job. Cheers.

90% of the pros you see drifting online are using a RWD rc and not an AWD. AWD are the boring beginner level rc and is BARLEY considered a drift more like a power assisted power slide.

The main difference between mini z is the chassis lay out , most mini z’s actually look cheaper , it’s a 130 brushed motor in the mini z’s
